Isn’t this the best reviewed OLED tv in the market?
i guess question is .. is it $1000-$1500+ worth of better lol
lets compare apples to apples and nothing else.
I think the closest competitor models for this tv are the LG E8 & Panasonic FZ1000 series which are close to $4200-4500 during ebay offers.
And this tv has a feature set being offered more than by the 2 above models for about $500 more - Best upscaling of all OLEDS, Netflix calibrated mode, built in subwoofers, Android tv with full voice control.
Besides you might invest in an Android tv box possibly with the above 2 mentioned models and a sound bar (excluding panasonic)
@aspirepranesh: true, i have the older pana 950 65inch .. more than enough for us but if you got the $ definitely a better option to all the above.
@scud70: You're most certainly right. If you just want an OLED, the C8 and FZ950 offer plenty of value for close to $3000 (I have the A8F which I purchased for $4350 back in June this year), but I would have bought this one definitely for the quality of it.
@aspirepranesh: "Netflix calibrated mode" on the A9F is a bad joke, Dolby vision is much better on the LG's (if that's your thing), and the sound is distorted at higher frequencies compared to last years A1 (https://youtu.be/Mz6pIX6cFls?t=248).
Motion and upscaling is slightly better on the A9F, but colours are better 'out of the box' on the Panasonic, the A9F will be better after professional calibration but factor another $300~$500 for that.
@CH: Panasonic I hear has more natural colors compared to the Sony and LG overall.
I have spent very little time with the A8F's in built sound system since mine has been connected to the logitech Z550's! But I tested the A9F recently in store and the sub woofers pack enough punch for me.
Can't say much about the netflix calibrated mode.
@aspirepranesh: Yeah the Sony claws the colour advantage back after calibration though.
"Netflix mode" just adjusts a couple of basic picture settings and turns on dolby-vision, but Sony's implementation of dolby-vision is worse than their own proprietary HDR dynamic tone mapping.
What about the difference between A8F and A9F?
@Grok: X1 Xtreme processing chip vs X1 Ultimate processing chip - better upscaling
One subwoofer vs three (3.1 channel)
Older Android tv vs Android Oreo
A9F has Netflix calibrated mode
A9F actively listens for google home commands, with A8F you have to press the mic button on the remote to trigger it
waiting on email for 5% off code, jbhifi's online system is rubbish
Ripped off.
And going off past JB sales I have a suspicion it will be 20% off the RRP of $7499 not the current sale price $6496.
So $6000 before 5% subscription discount ($5685 after).
From their T&Cs - ^Discounts apply to most recent previous ticketed/advertised price.
Yeah it's live now. ~$5000 after 25% off.
Not a bad deal but still overpriced compared to the competition.
