Except for people who maybe didn't want a TV before but want one now?
So it’s a bargain?
looking for it to be more like around 2.5k to be a good deal
Or 3 even…
I'd prefer 1.5
I think free is the only /real/ bargain for this TV. I'm a reasonable, and regular, OzBargainer.
This will never get to 2.5k, even on runout. Buy a C4.
is the G4 worth it for $1000 more compared to C4?
Absolutely not.
@Maths Debater: Depends if you enjoy extra extra brightness
@serpserpserp: Oh I love me a light cannon but really struggling to justify LG and even Sony’s prices as of late.
@serpserpserp: Also depends if you earn $35,000 per annum or $350,000.
$1000 value is different for everyone.
Just to add to this, my comment applies to those without LG VIP membership. There will no doubt be someone who says "BuT The 65" G3 GoT DoWn To $2.3k".
Lol, what's the justification for this statement? Only the C series ever gets that low, besides some random LG VIP deals last year where there were some historically low prices for G series. G4 at $3495 isn't that good of a deal, but $2500 is asking way too much.
Exactly this. I think for those without LG VIP Membership, 3k is considered a deal going by the G3's historical price.
Has a current model 65" LG G OLED ever been that cheap?
The C4 ok for someone on a budget ?
The C4 is a fantastic TV - the G4 is better but not by much, if it was a couple hundred more you'd pay it but not $1k more imo
Yep, peak brightness is the only significant difference.
$1000 extra just for that?
LG sure likes to rip people
it would be good if chinese brands like TCL starts bring out OLED models
@pinkybrain: Not sure why you got downvoted for this comment when there's pretty clear evidence: https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/lg-c4-oled-vs-lg-g4-…
It absolutely isn't $1000 better than the C4 by any stretch of the imagination.
And green wash out with off axis viewing for the C4. Which is a weird issue for an OLED. The brightness difference isn't only 5% either. The G4 has great SDR and HDR brightness.
@Team America: Green tint off-axis is panel lottery, my C4 doesn't have it.
I chose the 65 C4 over the G4. I mean, the G4 is absolutely fantastic, but a $1k difference.
Which will help pay for a soundbar, or go towards the electricity bill.
Most people can’t tell the difference between a C4 and a G4, despite what they’ll claim.
The C4 is a fantastic tv, which itself is barely distinguishable from the C1.
Thanks all
Videopro is cheaper, and comes with a $200 gift card (their shop only). https://www.videopro.com.au/product/lg-65-oled65g4psa-oled-e… ($3480)
Compare shipping costs though..
$3500 for 65"… Does it also makes love to me??
The 65” A95L sold out everywhere at $5,999.
https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/sony-a95l-oled-vs-lg…
Suddenly, it makes the G4 look like a bargain, right?
The G4 is more of a lustful temptress.
What is ATL?
All Time Low
Ate The Lemon
Atlanta, Georgia
At The Limit
I'd snag the 77" at this price
we all would
Tempting, but I can't do small screens anymore
size does matter
what is your minimum screen size?
I consider 55" as being small
while 65 seems like a sweet spot for most homes
I was mostly being stupid. But projectors wrecked everything for me, and my home is open plan.
PJ on 120" screen in theatre, 85" LCD TV in lounge/kitchen/dining.
For me, the quality is already crazy. Anything more is wasted on me. And the warranties don't match with high-end stuff… And consumer-rights fights aren't for me.
@Ulysses31: Consumer rights are rarely a fight. Know your rights and it’s a very simple process, well past manufacturer warranties, especially on higher end stuff.
I’d take OLED at 65” all day every day over an 85” LCD. Don’t be afraid of following up your consumer rights, instead, embrace it! We’re very lucky here in Aus and that’s just another example of how easy it is for us relative to most other parts of the world.
@JC1186: Thanks for the encouragement. We DO deserve better. Probably too late to claim some of my items that failed & I stacked in the garage.
@Ulysses31: No never too late, the worst they can say is no. Either try get them repaired under ACL warranty or sell them to somebody else for parts, don’t hoard unwanted resources whilst they age and deteriorate.
Insane you could get top end OLED 65” for $2400 and it’s only become more expensive.
What top end OLED and when?
OLED65C9PTA Around end of 2019
Paid $2500 last year for 2023 G3 65" by stacking LG coupon + VIP price + Cashback. Acknowledging that luck is rare, still I'd have said $3000 is the true ATL for a 65" G series panel. Guess we'll see in February when they start moving them for the 2025 stock.
Great price. ATL was $2.3k (albeit not for everyone): https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/821954
I'm currently eyeing off the C4 (currently on sale around $2700-$2800).. I won't need the TV til around April when my house renovations are done.. I'm assuming the LG C5 2025 will be hitting the shelves in Q1 2025.. Do you think I'll be able to pick up a C4 for a better price if I wait?
Yeah you’ll likely save another $200 or so. I’d hold off if not being used until April, it’ll almost definitely go a little cheaper.
Generally if there’s still stock, the cheapest prices are around Feb-April as the new years models are pending a rollout.
Hold off until Jan at least and see if the C5 announcement at CES sounds like it'll be a game changer or not. I'm not sure how they can really improve the G series at this point, the C series I guess can move closer to the G series in brightness I guess.
Paid slightly less than $2500 for C4 65” on Black Friday this year. Totally achievable to negotiate now — that said, as other posters have noted, prices drop post-Feb as CES in January will announce newer models and clearance begins.
Just wait for the renovation to be finished. Then you don’t need to worry about moving the TV around.
Buy it now while there's stock in the country.
I just got the C4 65" for $2280 at JB, bundled with the SC9S soundbar for an extra $712.
A bloody great deal
Wow! Which store was this at?
JB Chatswood.
There really is limited stock in the country and if you want one get it now. Low supply + high demand = price sits where it is or goes up.
Don't sit around hoping to save 200 bucks.
Edit: I also had JB wall mount it. That's where they make their money. Still, a great deal for a superb TV.
@BloodyOldMate: Any mention of wether you can return the sound bar on its own…
@JKRITS01: Only if it's faulty.
You can't rock up with it in its box and ask for a refund.
You could probably get away with a credit.
https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/problem-with-a-product-or-…
Edit: can see my final price was $2840 as I stacked with vouchers.
My C1 only a few years needs to be turned off at the power for 4 minutes and then it turns on. Anyone else got the same problem?
You should probably report this to the retailer and/or manufacturer.
Please contact LG and get it sorted. Don’t be afraid, don’t worry that the nominal 1 year warranty period has finished. If LG doesn’t offer a free repair, then cite ACL and they likely will.
Still rocking my B7.
Only 55” but I only paid what $1700 for it all those years ago.
So is my partner, such a beautiful panel, even by todays standards. She hasn't experienced a single problem with it.
If only it had HDMI 2.1, that's the only reason I parted with my B7 and even then the upgrade wasn't as big as I expected.
What’s that do?
I have a C8 and there is nothing wrong with it and I barely watch anything on the actual TV these days as the kids hog it. An upgrade will be for the kids and I'll likely mount the C8 in the bedroom I guess. (Then continue watching YouTube on my phone)
My B8 has been unreal- still working, but logo’s have now burnt in from TV channels.
For those interested, apparently yellow and orange logo’s are the worst for causing it, which is what’s triggered mine.
14,000 hours though is a decent run.
Will keep an eye out for a good deal next year on a newer OLED, maybe go up to 77 if we can find a way to fit it.
C7 65 here. Strong as ever after 2 panel replacements!
HDMI 2.1 is so tenpting
i got a Samsung S90D earlier in the year, is this the LG equivalent? Just curious
Not quite, both have pros and cons: https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/samsung-s90d-s90dd-o…
Near end of line. I would wait these will get cheaper.
Crossing my fingers for 77" C4 sales for Boxing day
For anyone with a C4 model… How does 4K sport look? I'm mainly interested in 4K Fox Footy….
Sport looks fantastic on a C4, especially in 4K.
Thanks!
Spoke with Payless chat online.
Gave them the videopro deal linked in comments here.
Got price reduced down to $3189 including delivery and installation.
Used $1200 gift card from telstra deal and paid 1989 for this TV!!
You just set new ATL, $3190, congrats :)
I paid $3320 in June.
JB Hifi has updated the pricing, now down to $3448 for 65".
Harvey Norman has the 65" G4 $3448 with Bonus 10% in Gift Cards when you spend $250 or more* Ends 11:59PM AEDT 26/12/24 - https://www.harveynorman.com.au/lg-65-inch-g4-4k-oled-evo-uh…
Why buy a 65" TV when one can have up to 150" screen and an unobstrusive ultra short throw laser projector for less money?
6% above ATL? Not really a bargain.
