LG 65" OLED EVO G4 4K UHD Smart TV (2024) $3488 + Delivery ($0 C&C / in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

240

One of the best OLED TV money can buy this year. Now even cheaper for Black Friday.

Besides the picture quality and processing… I am so glad LG have lifted the TV up on the stand so I can fit a soundbar below it, without obstructing the view.

Perfect for gamers as well with VRR.

Cheaper with discounted gift cards if you have access to them.

I would love a 55” G4 but LG are f’ing dreaming with their asking price.

Sure are… it's not on special.

I would imagine the sweet spot in terms of cost efficiency is the 65" panels. From memory 65" and 75" sizes are the optimal size to minimise wastage from a single mother glass substrate.

      • Yeah, I’ve noticed 55” panels don’t go on sale as aggressively as they used to.

  • I've got an LG B7 from 2017 - how does this compare?

    • I would imagine there would be a difference considering the age of the panel and the level of technology that has increased. LG do use a white pixel to help push up brightness so that would already be good for HDR video.

I upgraded from a B7 to a C4 just recently and if you aren't dying to upgrade to HDMI 2.1 to get 4k144 from your PC, it's…really not that much different.

Sure it's brighter (and apparently the G4 is brighter still) and the input lag for gaming is much better, but it's still overall so much smaller of an upgrade compared to upgrading an LCD to your currently B7 OLED. Wasn't mindblowing an upgrade to me at all as the internet comments suggest. I personally wouldn't upgrade unless you really want HDMI 2.1, have burn in or are getting yellow/green screen issues.

Looking at the rtings comparison they are still fairly the same - i think qd oled is probably a substantial leap rather than woled - i also have a c7 65 from way back chugging along - always tempted to upgrade just for a bigger size but the fundamentals of oled are still the same - per pixel dimming/blacks and hdr always being incredible with oled of any kind - of course newers models have bfi, 4k 120/vrr/upscaling/peak brightness but for hdr movies they scored very similar (my use case/dark room viewing)

        • It's not really that much of a difference, I have a C9 OLED and an Alienware QD-OLED monitor and the most noticeable thing between them is that the QD-OLED's blacks are raised when my room has a light on/sunlight.

@ShowTekk: The qd oled stuff with the black levels is what i definitely am worried about - guessing its the same issue with tvs s96/a95L

@Securityclearance: Yeah honestly I can imagine it being even more of an issue if it's a TV, it's much easier to darken my bedroom versus my loungeroom.

"smaller of an upgrade compared to upgrading an LCD to your currently B7 OLED" - I upgraded from a plasma. I've never had a LCD TV.

        • Plasma to oled is still a jump though right

        • Curious how much payed back in the day for your b7? I paid about 2700 for the 65 c7

been eyeing exactly this model this year.

    is this atl?

    • No. The lowest I’ve seen it is $3,283.55

      • that's insane! I assumed maybe it was lower, but I totally missed that. guess we're HODL boys lol

what's your thoughts. think it'll get close to that this BF? or more a NY thing?

  • +1

Just picked one of these bad boys. Been eyeing this one for a while after comparing it for weeks against the S90D and C4. Saw them in-store and even though the S90D has a superior QD-OLED Panel with a stronger colour range, the G4 just looked better somehow. People say it's due to the LG Processor. Added $10 Perks Birthday Discount.

Reckon it's worth waiting for LG's own Black Friday sale? Chances of them beating this price?

  • +1

I would wait for further discounts on Black Friday. I’m confident it’ll come down further based on past sale trends

    • I better stop watching the prices as I've bought one. $3,330 using 5% off JB vouchers. I was aiming for anything under $3.5k.

FYI Harvey Norman have dropped to $3481

  • Also available from The Good Guys (here) for $3,471 via price beat button.

    • I also stacked an 8% Cashrewards cashback from TGG, getting $254.18 back totalling around $3234 for the 65" G4.

  • Hey All
Just sharing that I got a 65 inch G4 and LG10TY Soundbar for $3395 including Delivery

    At JBHIFI Karrinyup

Decent deal , I mentioned the last big sale that this tv was discounted and if he could match it started at 4k and went down to thsi price pretty damm quick

    Mick

    • You sure it was not 55 inch? I was offered with the sound bar but it was 54 inch and not 65 inch.

  • 65 bro, you could safely assume I know what size tv I'm buying 😀

    • +1

you sure it's a tv? could be an xbox lol

  • Haha, let's see when it's delivered tomorrow

  • +1

FYI, I have just purchased the C4 77inch at JB HiFi, for $3981, + soundbar bundle deal ($500 off), soundbar is $1000, so $4481 in total, then returned the sound bar unopened 2 days later, got $1000 refund, so TV was only $3481!

So the sound bar refund should work with this bundle as well, essentially another $700 off!
