LG 65" OLED EVO G4 4K UHD Smart TV (2024) $3488 + Delivery ($0 C&C / in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

140

One of the best OLED TV money can buy this year. Now even cheaper for Black Friday.

Besides the picture quality and processing… I am so glad LG have lifted the TV up on the stand so I can fit a soundbar below it, without obstructing the view.

Perfect for gamers as well with VRR.

Cheaper with discounted gift cards if you have access to them.

I would love a 55” G4 but LG are f’ing dreaming with their asking price.

Sure are… it's not on special.

I would imagine the sweet spot in terms of cost efficiency is the 65" panels. From memory 65" and 75" sizes are the optimal size to minimise wastage from a single mother glass substrate.

      • Yeah, I’ve noticed 55” panels don’t go on sale as aggressively as they used to.

  • I've got an LG B7 from 2017 - how does this compare?

    • I would imagine there would be a difference considering the age of the panel and the level of technology that has increased. LG do use a white pixel to help push up brightness so that would already be good for HDR video.

I upgraded from a B7 to a C4 just recently and if you aren't dying to upgrade to HDMI 2.1 to get 4k144 from your PC, it's…really not that much different.

Sure it's brighter (and apparently the G4 is brighter still) and the input lag for gaming is much better, but it's still overall so much smaller of an upgrade compared to upgrading an LCD to your currently B7 OLED. Wasn't mindblowing an upgrade to me at all as the internet comments suggest. I personally wouldn't upgrade unless you really want HDMI 2.1, have burn in or are getting yellow/green screen issues.

Looking at the rtings comparison they are still fairly the same - i think qd oled is probably a substantial leap rather than woled - i also have a c7 65 from way back chugging along - always tempted to upgrade just for a bigger size but the fundamentals of oled are still the same - per pixel dimming/blacks and hdr always being incredible with oled of any kind - of course newers models have bfi, 4k 120/vrr/upscaling/peak brightness but for hdr movies they scored very similar (my use case/dark room viewing)

      • "smaller of an upgrade compared to upgrading an LCD to your currently B7 OLED" - I upgraded from a plasma. I've never had a LCD TV.

        • Plasma to oled is still a jump though right

        • Curious how much payed back in the day for your b7? I paid about 2700 for the 65 c7

          • @Securityclearance: Not sure how much it cost originally as I bought it 2nd hand a few years ago. :) I paid $800 for it.

  • been eyeing exactly this model this year.

    is this atl?
