    yay the monthly freebie!

Thanks jack, but I can't seem to find the option to choose 30 days anymore, so I just manually remove it to stop eBay relisting it.

    • +3

Switch to ‘Classic View’ on desktop and you should be able to select the 30 day option.

      • Won't make any difference though.

        It will still relist automatically.

Don't think the relist checkbox shows up any more, at least on my end.

        • I’m just lucky I guess..

          • +1

@headphonejack: I don't get that, and when I did it only ever offered 3 relists and not 8 like yours.

            • @Scab: The relist checkbox only shows up for listings that are Fixed Price. If you're on the newer listing tool, you will only have Auction and Good Til Cancelled options - Fixed Price option isn't available. Good Til Cancelled lasts for 30 days and will automatically relist 3 times if not sold. Good Til Cancelled doesn't allow the option to disable automatic relist (the checkbox isn't displayed).

If you change to the classic/Advanced listing tool you will see additional listing options. Instead of Good Til Cancelled you can use the Fixed Price option (with various periods up to 30 days available). Only for Fixed Price items will you have access to the relist checkbox to enable or disable per your preference.

If you already listed an item as Good Til Cancelled, you can't change it to Fixed Price, and the relist checkbox won't be available.

              • @tbone74: I was talking about fixed price.

Auto relist doesn't show for me and hasn't done for ages.

And when it did, it was only for 3 times and not 8.

                • +1

@Scab: Exactly the same for me. Used to get three free relists, but that option was removed around 18 months ago.

                  • +1

@dm01: eBay has had so many revisions it's seriously messed up.

                    • @Scab: Sorry, I described it incorrectly before (going from memory). I tried a test listing now and it's the Duration option that affects whether the automatic relist option is available.

In the basic "Quick listing tool", you don't have access to set the Duration for the Fixed Price listing (it's always Good Til Cancelled).

In the classic "Advanced listing tool", when you choose Fixed Price listing, the Duration can be set as a number of days or Good Til Cancelled. If you choose Good Til Cancelled, the automatic relist option won't be available.

                      Example

If you've already listed something using the Quick listing tool, then try to revise it, you won't have the option to change the Duration (to access the relist checkbox option).

I probably should add, I only found this after contacting ebay support. Whether they did something to enable the option or not, I don't know. If you don't see the option matching the above example screenshot, perhaps contact them.

    Cheers OP :)

  • "The promotion only applies to listings in one category."

So does this mean you can't list 2 items that are in different categories?

Only can list multiple things if same category

    • +4

No, in the past it's meant you can't list an item in multiple catagories. You can't list item A in catagory 1, 2 and 3, but you can list item A in catagory 1, and item B in catagory 2.

      • +1

Thanks for the clarification. I always interpreted this as that you must only commit to selling items of one particular category.

  • I’ve been stuck on max 24 listings and $2.45k per month for about two years. ‘Above average’ seller account. Good feedback. Fees always paid on time. 450 positive seller feedbacks. I hit my limit about 9 days into the month and then have to wait u til next month to sell more. Very annoying.

    Any ideas to increase this?

    • If you haven't already I would suggest phoning ebay customer support and ask them to raise your selling limits.

      • Thanks mate. This is where it gets complicated. When I was at uni and lived on campus (literally 16 years ago) everyone on the LAN got their Ebay accounts suspended due to some people bidding up each other’s stuff. Since then eBay have banned everyone’s accounts saying they’re ‘linked’. It’s crazy. Like we’re all tainted haha. Anyway somehow this account has avoided that by changing my name slightly think ‘Paul’ being changed to ‘paulo’. So if they ask for documentation they’ll see my name which doesn’t have the extra ‘o’ and I’m back to square one, without an eBay account. Prior to making the ‘o’ account about three years ago I was told numerous times from eBay over the phone and chat that I am banned from eBay for life due to what others did on the campus network 16 years ago. I’m like a second class citizen!

        TLDR: eBay is brutal

        • +2

I’m like a second class citizen!

          Every seller on eBay is.

        • You have to be very careful, they link accounts logged in using the same computer or network .
If just one of those accounts do something wrong all accounts are effected.

          • @shadowangel: do they do this looking at multiple accounts for buying with coupons that have a usage limit?

      • It should have raised automatically already, chances are he may have other accounts or accounts that have been linked.

  • looks like it only starts on 4 december (at least for me). Thanks though - got some old tech stuff to flog off!

    • +2

Yeah that's normal - the offer is available to accept several days before you can actually use it.

  • so what is the secret of being eligible? I am missing all of them!

Do you think new account will help?

  • This is so confusing.
This only applys for 30 day listings? Dammit man I wanted to flog a bunch of old Nintendo cartridges over the xmas rush so that won't work then.
And I would only get one free item on the first cartridge sold and not subsequent cartridges as they're same category?

    • +1

i think you are fine, it's referring to some items that are listed in mulitple categories, this voids the promotion. if you have multiple nintendo cartridges in one category each you are fine.

you can verify that your auction meets the promo by the seller area under offers and see that the auction number is listed in the no. of used listings.

      • But needs to be a 30 day listing?

        • you'll get 30 days of promo period in a good til cancelled listing. so if it doesn't sell in 30 days, cancel it so you don't get charged fees.

  • +5

Is there a way to stop eBay from automatically changing your buy it now listings to accept best offers? It happens all the time after about a week of my listing being up. It's so bloody annoying how they force it onto you. I have to individually remove it from each listing.

    • I think you have to remove it at time of listing each time.

    • I've contacted them a couple of times to complain about it. The second time I did this, they added me to a some list they have of people that have stated they don't want this to happen. Although they claimed it's all system automated and there is no way to stop it, since adding me to this "list" it hasn't happened again. Based on the number of items I'm selling and the frequency with which this used to happen, it looks like something has changed, but I'd need another month or two before being sure about it.

  • +2

    hope this continues next year

    • Same. You been getting it every month this year?

      • +2

Yeah every month. It's saved me hundreds. Being a single income large family, eBay is the difference between breaking even or not having enough money each month, so really appreciating the extra $.

You got it all year too?

        • Yes same. and likewise it's saved me hundreds if not more.

        • -1

Hey, if you see this offer again in the next couple of days, let me know, and I'll do the same.

          • @dm01: No worries. If it's not up by tomorrow, then it's most likely ended. Fingers and toes crossed…

            • @singingwolf: Got it as well - appreciate the message, thanks!

  • +2

Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only.

    :(

    • Try again. I got the same message a couple of days ago but it's working for me this morning.

  • Confused with this offer - does it mean I need to sell within the 3 day period to have it fee free?

    • +1

You only need to list the items, they will be covered by the promotion until the listing ends or auto-relists.

  • -1

Question, do you need to list the item by the end of promo date or item needs to be sold by that date? i.e., the offer expires on 7th Dec for me, so can I list it for 3 days on 7th Dec? so the auction ends on 10th Dec?

    • Sorry, already answered :)

  • Ok…ready for this month's promo. Anyone seen it yet?
