theBlu: is a deeply immersive VR series that allows audiences to experience the wonder and majesty of the ocean through different habitats and come face to face with some of the most awe inspiring species on the planet. The series, which is directed by Jake Rowell (Call of Duty, Final Fantasy, Superman Returns), has been designed as beautiful moments in passing or a collection of memories that powerfully tap into the vast potential of VR. The debut episode, featuring an incredible close encounter with an 80 foot whale, is already recognized as one the most iconic room scale VR experiences to date (a Sundance Film Festival 2016 selection). Additional episodes in this bundle take place on a teeming coral reef and in the very deepest region of the ocean. Gain access to new modes of discovery in each episode. Slow time and capture pictures in Inspector Mode, and return to a meditative version of each location in Ambient Mode.

  • You own this game.

Now I'm confused. What exactly did I just get?

    • A VR game. Steam reviews here

      • Oh well, I don't have any of those VR headsets - only a cheap generic (bad quality) one haha

        • +3

If and when you get one, you now have 5 minutes of a big whale swimming around you. Mazel tov

  • +4

EDIT: From the comment above this may be unclear in the description. This is a VR game that requires WMR, Vive or Oculus Rift.

This is one of those apps that are pretty neat to show someone who hasn't used VR before. Pretty short though, maybe 15 minutes of content all up

  • Agreed. Good one

I paid $10 US to have it to show folks VR

3 different experiences and very interactive with the Vive.

Touch a giant jellyfish… Try to catch a fish. Shine a light deep through a whale rib cage.

My kids love it. Best at roomscale

If you don't have a proper VR set not going to be useful

  • Just bought Oculus through Amazon and was considering purchasing this. Great timing!

  • It loads on my PC (GTX1070 etc). Any way to start it and control it via regular PC M+KB/Xbox controller?

  • Can this be used with PS VR?

    • would like to know this too

but my gut feeling says no.
since this only available on pc

      • Sure you will be able to use it with Psvr on PC give it a go it's free.:/

    • +1

You'd have to use something like Trinus VR to connect your PSVR to the PC and trick it that way.

      Short answer no.
Long answer, yes with a lot of screwing around and mediocre results.

  • Nice and done. Thanks OP

  • any tips on getting this working with oculus rift? I can see it on my monitor but wont work with the rift.

  • This is really, REALLY great for demoing VR. It's got a fast paced mode to really show it off, or the user prompted mode.

I've used this for a long time to show VR to reluctant participants (parents, older people) and it was a resounding success!

    Grab it!

  • Awesome! Still working
