Do you have a link? Because all the information I can find says it's not released yet, and it's definitely not included in the $599 package, potentially costing another $100+, which makes it more than 3x the cost of these which IMO would be a bit of a joke actually.
@c0balt: It's a separate accessory and it probably won't be cheap. I'm surprised they didn't release all the accessories for pre order at the same time.
Osmo pocket is catered towards vloggers. The GoPro is a sports action cam. Completely different audience although some overlap with the EIS.
Wouldnt wanna be taking the Osmo out for a surf :)

so something that doesn't really make sense to me with flashing the firmware is that it has a 10MP sensor which im not sure is capable of 4k (some are not), unless they are also falsely reporting the sensor does someone know?
Its the same hardware inside as the GoPro Hero 5 Black, Its just dumbed down with its software. So it would have a 12MP Camera but the software dumbs it down to 10MP
And 4K technically only around 8mp…

Very good improvements. It's no gimbal though, probably never will be unless it shoots it in 2x res then halves it.
Not worth it for walking. More worth it for higher frequency bump footage like mountain biking
Very tempting… Need a new camera for kayaking / kayak fishing. This seems like the one to go with. I used to have an sj4000 which was dirt cheap and lasted a couple of years… But never was very easy to use. Is there a cheapie option to choose over this one? 200 seems great to join the gopro family…

I was using a Sandisk Ultra 32GB Class 10. The camera gets hot and drains the battery too quick because of the low-speed data transfer.
I bought a Sandisk Extreme 64GB U3 A1 —- $49 —- and so far so good.
With one full charge, I am able to use the camera plus 2 days. I use it as a dashcam on top of my helmet —- motorcycle —- when going to work and going back home.
So class 10 isn't enough ey?
You might have a problem with the camera getting hot and draining the battery too quick. Buy at least a U3 A1 micro sd card and enjoy.

Myself and friends have found that the Sandisk Ultra's bug out over time and will start recording, but then randomly stop recording. I think the general quality of the Ultra's is not good enough for long term use in a GoPro.
I got a bunch of Lexar 633x 64gb cards for cheap and they've been reliable now for years across GoPro Session/Hero/Hero5.

Do these capture good quality sound? Would external mic be needed for shooting documentaries?
It does have one of the best sound quality. After a lot of reviews, it is even better than the 7.
I use it with its case on top of my helmet —- motorcycle — and it can easily record me talking with my gf when at the traffic light.
Without its case, you will have an amazing experience. External mic is only necessary if you want an extreme ultra power sound quality. Give it a try.
Very few internal microphones will be good enough for a documentary. Action cameras being the worst of them all.
It won't be good enough for dialogue and it won't be good enough for atmosphere+effects.
Poor quality audio is just as jarring as potato quality video. It will really put people off.
