I just ordered seems a nice price. Compare to RBK50 this is smaller coverage and fewer ports but good for my small house.

  • Is this suitable for a townhouse?

    • Yeah these are good. Even for larger homes

    • absolutely

My son suggested we get the Google Wifi system. How does this compare?

edit: I googled comparisons but it seemed to just be comparisons between RBK50 and Google wifi.

    • Main difference - you have to login to Google to setup Google Wifi system.
Some people have concern, me included.

Both Wifi systems are good! but i prefer orbi… lower price, wider coverage, more ports, better parent control with Disney circle…

      • i agree, main selling point for me was Disney Circle, 4 ports on the satellite (for the RBK50) and the dedicated backhaul :)

    • I'm not 100% sure of google wifi but the back-haul of the netgears is dedicated not shared, some of the other mesh ones are shared with the other wifi bands. One of the biggest issue's i've come across (i have the RBK50) and some switch to google wifi because of this, is that chrome cast may not behave, mine was misbehaving but issue now seems to have gone away, i mainly used it for plex casting. Overall though very very good product, it saved me from having to cable my two storey house .. :)

Downside of Google is if you have no internet working then the local networking will also not function. I've done a ton of research in to mesh systems and the Orbi and Ubiquity systems are usually the best options.

      • Wouldn’t a strong router be enough to cover a townhouse? I still can get over why you would need a mesh system?

  • I currently have a Netgear R7000, but it now has problems (low speed) when multiply devices connected, would this be a good upgrade?

    • +1

      I had R7000.
Upgraded to Ubiquiti Unifi APs - reallly like it.

      • Thanks, so how Ubiquiti Unifi APs compare to this ORBI?

        • Honest answer - never used ORBI.
It's a consumer mesh WiFi system. That's all I know about it. :)

  • Showing up as $248.10 delivered after applying code.

I think it's free shipping with ebay plus. That's probably why your price is more.

      • Ahh got it, thanks!

        • wireless1_eshop are selling it for the same price with free shipping.

  • I've been looking at the Tenda Nova MW6 and MW3 as they are much cheaper and prive 3 units rather than 2. Unfortunately there are no comparisons between the two. However, the reviews of the Tenda units seem better than this.

What's better this or the rbk30 for $30 less https://www.computeralliance.com.au/netgear-orbi-rbk30-ac220…

    • anyone care to answer as i would like to know also :)

  • Would my optus nbn modem work with this? Or do I just connect this with the nbn box in the garage? Would really appreciate if someone can advise!! :)
