The sony 55 inch 4K TV available for $790 from the sony store (If you have AMEX) and after CR cashback.
Not sure if CR can be stacked on AMEX i.e. AMEX requires buying the product from the website of the retailer - so unsure how that works.

This is the same TV that was up for $809 on Amazon and sold out yesterday!

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2018

Amex deal should work so long as the purchase is processed by Sony

      Ah ok. Great. Thanks!

I just got a sound bar at the kiosk at Parramatta Westfields. Thy price matched Harvey Norman and gave an additional discount t. Paid with Amex got got confirm email straight away

        • Yea. Just bought this TV online - Got AMEX's confirmation email right away too.

Only 50Hz and basic in all regards, but great price.

  • 70" X8300F 4k HDR Android comes to $2052.82 with CR+AMEX. Look good at that price!

  • Why do you need new tv? đź“ş

    • Yup my Sony bravia from 2009 so fine. No need to upgrade yet.

  • This doesn't have Android does it?

    • No. It has an inbuilt chromecast though.
The android version is available @$100 more

What's the benefit of an Android version over Chromecast?

      • +4

Both versions have in-built Chromecast. Android version is just the interface so you can load Android apps onto the actual TV and play it direct. Look up the Android TV O/S, but a lot of apps you can get on Android phones are available on the TV.

This one uses the generic Sony interface, unsure if you can get apps with that.

If it's a difference of $100, Nvidia shield is a more powerful android tv box (and supposedly the most powerful tv box available), I have seen deals from around 150-170 for it this weekend, usually more like 200-250~. You plug that into the TV and will see the Android TV interface on one of the HDMI ports.

        • Thank you so much for the detailed explanation. That definitely helped me understand the value proposition in the incremental $100.

          • @BlueSkyAPI: FYI - the 9000F is not usually only $100 more, the 8000 something is which is identical but with a different operating system, with I'm assuming little to no difference in visuals.

If the X9000F is only $100 more, DEFINITELY get that.

  • How do I get the AMEX cashback?

    • +2

You need to have saved the offer to your card

  • What's was the standard RRP for this model. Cant believe how cheap 4K televisions that's aren't OLED are these days!

    • +1

      Says $1,699 on the website

  • What a good deal, but the 50Hz is a real bummer. Still, this is a good steal for a Sony branded 55' TV.

  • Anyone knows if Amex $50 cash back deal for Sony works on buying Sony gift cards? I have successes with Harvey Norman gift cards, but unsure about Sony.

  • I was wondering if these are much better than the Hisense TVs? The P6 are fairly well priced but then again if the quality of the panel on Sony is significantly better, I'm happy to spend. I've given up on my 10 year old Samsung plasma, which refuses to die!

    • Same dilemma, looking at this TV and the 55p6. Whirlpool seems to indicate the Hisense might be better.

      • I ended up caving in and used the JB gift cards to buy the Android version for $949 in store. Ready to use

        • Are the jb e gift cards instant? Or do you have to wait couple hours?

  • +1

“$790 from the sony store (If you have AMEX).”

How's this? Amex cashback is only $50 isn't it? So it's $849 right?

    • +2

      $899*93.5% (for 6.5% CR cashback) - 50 = 790

      • Oki thanks

  • I ordered it yesterday when CR had 9% cashback offer. Worked out to be $768.09 (9%CR + $50 Amex) which is still really good value for a Sony and 55". I've got CashrewardsAU confirm my cashback of $80.19, and Amex confirming my $50 credit within seconds of ordering.

  • Any love on the 75" Sony Android?

  • Guys, used the TV for few minutes today, tested YouTube to play some videos, there's a very noticeable lag in the playback of video. I'll post more in the next day or so if anyone wants to know.

First time commentor but thought this was important.
I bought this last time the deal popped up (was eBay last time) for the same price and there are a few things worth noting.
    Pro: it's gorgeous.

Cons: internally it has an identity crisis and refuses to believe its 55" which isn't a huge deal but makes Sony apps mighty confusing.
It refuses to accept casting via the Sony app or YouTube app despite the YouTube app initially working fine. I've spent hours troubleshooting it.
The stand for it is wobbly as hell and is basically just a glorified clothes rack with $800 on it.

Overall I'm still happy for the price though.

  • Will this be a good tv for PS4 Pro. That is my only use for it.
If not, can anyone recommend a sub $1000 that's better?

    I know nothing about TVs.

    • I'd check the lag for gaming.

  • DONT BUY - I just received my 65" version of this TV.
The Panel is bleeding light in the top middle part of the screen. Basically its like the frame and the panel are not sealed properly in that area.
I rang Sony and they said the best they can do is organise a repair (not a swap).
I requested a refund through Amazon (bought through Sony on Amazon) - and now the only option is for me to Ship back myself to Dandenong (from Sydney). I have to repack the whole TV, organise a freight courier to get my refund.

    I AM SO ANGRY!
    DO NOT BUY!
