'I can't for the life of me see how they get 7:2 out tho' huh???

    Their description is just useless.

Just remember that 7.2 means 7 channel surround and 2 subwoofers. This unit looks like it will either do 7.2 or if you want Atmos 5.2.2

I see - tho still think it's a bit dodgy as that is counting sub pre-outs, tho I'll admit I think active subs are a better idea, as the amps can be designed for the lower range of frequencies…
      Thanks for clarifying.

They've been counting the sub outs since the beginning of surround sound, ".1" always stood for the sub in 5.1. They've now just added another point and number for down firing channels. 11.2.6 = 11 surround channels, 2 subs, 6 down firing Atmos channels.

        • Hmm - I remember reading that stereo was an amazing increase in fidelity over mono, "quad" not quite so much, "5+1/2" fulfilling the promise of discrete quad and "7+2" a bit of icing on the cake.
11.2.6 sounds like something I'd want after shaving with my 7 bladed razor. How much for the lateral-line genetic modification?

  • Are these 4k receivers with Chromecast built in Chromecast ultra? As in, can cast uhd content?
