Fantastic lens. Got it last year in Black Friday, and it's never been this low for local or grey stock. Landscape and architecture dream lens.

    M 43 lens btw

Sad to see m43 die but some great lens to be had as this system slowly dies.

I think it is a fake news from Tony Northrup that m43 is going to die.
Since then many top photographers refuted his claim.

You want to bet $100? Lets revisit this comment in 2yrs.

And for record I do own m43 and full-frame, and I love my m43.

    • Is it being phased out or something?

    • +2

Not sure why you think the format is dying?

      • He's just trolling or ignorant.

  • How about compare to 7-14 Olympus? Which one produce better image and faster focus speed?

    • Panasonic's one is better for video as the zooming won't change the focus.

7-14 has benefit on lower focal length and constant aperture. But much heavier.

I owned the Oly 7-14 and loved it for:
      - Clutch focus.
      - Constant f2.8.
      - preferred it's focus ring direction.

      Sold it shortly after because:
      - Couldn't remove the lens hood.
      - Would have to have purchased a 150mm filter holder and more expensive filters.

Then bought the Panny 8-18 because:
      - It is slightly smaller than the 7-14 (not much, but a little bit).
      - Can remove the lens hood.
      - Would take my Nisi V5 pro holder and 100mm filters.

They are both pretty much on par for image (sharpness, distortion, etc) and focus. DXO lens reviews will give you specific results of both though.

      • Good summary. The weight difference is significant though. 535 g vs 315 g.

  • I would have jumped on this if they hadn't announced the 10-25 f/1.7.

Still looks to be a good price for a good lens.

    • The new lens will be priced very high and will be super heavy. The filter size is 77mm!

      • Sure, but for all intents and purposes it will be more useful for me :)

        • Each to their own i guess. I still don't understand why Olympus keep making f/1.2 lenses that so heavy and expensive defeating the original purpose of m43 system.

    Fantastic Deal

  • This or Laowa 7.5mm for $615 from digidirect? Mostly wanting it for that wider angle.

    • I like the compactness of Laowa. However I hate changing lens so zoom lens for me :D.

ebay camera house is doing same price with extra 5% off ( plus flybuy points and 1% cashback)

link here - $864 including delivery, before cashback but after 5% off

      • Is the Giftcard promotion applicable?

        • It should be. It appears on the camerahouse website

          • @Fiximol: But will an invoice from Ebay be valid in this case?

            • @bigosmallo: I don't know how they invoice, but as long as it has the camerahouse letter head I think it will be fine. I don't see any exclusion on ebay sales in the T&C (but that was a cursory glance and ctrl f)

        • I am sure that it would be applicable, because Camera House is an authorised Australian dealer for Panasonic.

      • You could also get an extra $25 off if you used PayPal eBay gift cards. You can buy up to 5 $100 cards using the code that makes the cards $95 at checkout. There's a limit of 5 cards using the code.

    • AU $1,439.10 now…

  • The price seems to be $999 now.

    • Still a great price.

      • but it is not after it was $899

  • Do you think they will have the discount again on Cyber Monday?
