Valid for new and existing Kogan Mobile customers & Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEDT on 28/02/2019
    NICE~

  • +4

Something that is worth buying up to now. Thanks OP.

  • +1

If only these prices were applied on ebay

    • I couldn't find the eBay page for it first time, it's already updated on the deal.

  • Nice just used $200 in gift cards I got for $190 so total $222.36 Im happy with that

  • If recharging do you get another 12 months from the end of your current plan (mine expires May 2019) or 12 months from the date you recharge. apologies if its been asked before, I cant find it.

    • +2

It is 12 months from recharge I believe. Happy to be corrected

      • thanks knobbs, suspected as much…ahh well, hopefully get another one around that time.

    • +6

      Quoted from Kogan's FAQ:
If you purchase an additional prepaid call plan it will void all existing credit from your current plan. Overriding your prepaid plan is both non-refundable and unable to be reinstated.

      • +1

        noted with thanks!

  • +1

Is this a good price, do they usually discount further?

    • +4

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is the lowest they've ever been!

      • +3

It's the lowest they've been since the latest data upgrade, but they were cheaper the last time Kogan/Dick Smith eBay did a 20% off. XL plan was $254.

        • +1

          And also when:

          1. Kogan $50 off $120 purchase vouchers were available. I assume they discontinued them or at least no more apply to mobile plans. That changed the whole game.
          2. 1+1 offer was launched last year and earlier this year. Effective price per plan was quite low that time.
      • they were ~25% cheaper in the 2-for-1 deals: example https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/404029
M (was 7GB, now 13GB) worked out as $12.50/mth - cheaper if you used referral credit or discount codes.
This deal has the 13GB at 16.95/mth

personally don't see what all the excitement (66+ votes) is about here.

        • +3

Kogan has 40% off their plans almost all year around. However getting it further discounted below that level would only happen a few times a year. As people are on different 12 month cycles, I think it's important to highlight this for those that fall within the period that this can be taken advantage of, even if I don't need to take advantage of it myself.

More than what I can say about the oversaturation of headphone deals that start with "not the cheapest but still pretty good"…

          • +1

@spiff: you points are valid and I agree.
my comments were only in response to Smogul's "Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is the lowest they've ever been"

        • -4

I think the data:$ is bit lacking compared to some other providers earlier in the year.

  • Do they expire or have a date they need to be activated by?

    • +1

Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEDT on 28/02/2019

    • -

  • Fantastic!

  • fyi the $203 plan is still available for $205 even outside of ebay and this sale.

    • +1

      link?

      • I just bought the one from this link. I'm very confused. I'm not an existing Kogan Mobile user at the moment.

It says that it's only available to existing customers only but in the clickable title from the page, that says "What happens after I purchase my voucher code?", states "After purchasing this product, you will be sent a unique Kogan Mobile voucher by email within 24 hours and a Kogan Mobile SIM Starter Pack by post. To redeem, simply login to your account and use the voucher to recharge. The voucher can be redeemed for a MEDIUM 365 Day Plan without any additional charge."

Do i need a new sim card or not?

  • Thanks, OP, bought 1 for me and 1 for my partner using the 5% off gift cards I bought earlier today!

  • What is latest activation date by which one needs to activate? Is it the same as voucher expiry date?

Does it work for the existing Kogan customers?

    • Pretty sure activation date is same as voucher expiry date.
Existing customers may purchase this deal however the plan will be effective immediately after activating and will override any existing plan.

      • +1

My existing plan expires on 15th Dec or so.. meaning I can very well activate this one on the next day.

        • Yes, correct.

  • +9

While I agree this they're good prices, Kogans eBay prices aren't reflective of their website prices, so for what its worth rather than the 15% you're realistically getting:

    XL Plan: $315.10 (40GB Per 30 Days) vs eBay $282.92 = $32.18 (10%) discount
    L Plan: $254.30 (20GB Per 30 Days) vs eBay $232.60 = $21.7 (8.5%) discount
    M Plan: $222.65 (13GB Per 30 Days) vs eBay $203.45 = $19.2 (8.6%) discount
    S Plan: $161.82 (3GB Per 30 Days) vs eBay $147.87 = $13.95 (8.6%) discount)

    • +1

Well said. The difference might reflect eBay fees, but at the same time I don't think the eBay price has been jacked in the past. However Kogan's value proposition is so good that this kind of thing is forgivable imo.

      • +1

Yeah they definitely haven't jacked the prices for this deal but it's worth noting that, for instance, it isn't a $50 saving on the XL Plan as the OP has put on (not his fault).

    • Kogan practically pioneered price-jacking. He was doing it before it was even a thing. Even got busted and fined for it.

      https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/kogan-pays-32400-penal…

Doesn't seem to stop him (or others) from doing it again, price of doing business I guess.

  • Has anybody received $20 Amex casback (if activated) buying these plans direct from Kogan mobile site? Does say it’s excluded…….just wondering….

    • +1

Yes, I received the Amex cashback when I bought a Medium plan. As long as you purchase on kogan.com.au and not koganmobile.com.au, you're fine.

      • Thanks, works out about the same using eBay (with 5% off gift cards) or Amex direct on Kogan site.

  • +1

Highly recommended, great coverage and always adding more data!

    • Until they destroy the competition, that is.

  • I must congratulate Kogan on his negotiating skills. He always seems to be able to apply data increases to existing customers.

  • I have a $50 ebay voucher (applied using a random string of digits voucher code). Is there a way to apply the $50 voucher code and the "PYIPPEE" code or is it one or the other only?

    • Pretty sure you can use eBay voucher and this code in the same purchase.

      • from memory there is only ever a single voucher code box though???

        • +1

Yeah but you can enter both codes in one after the other. Both codes will be applied.

          • @smogg: I just tried it and it says "You can only apply one voucher code to this purchase"

            • @turbodude: Where did you buy this $50 eBay voucher? As a gift card from eBay?
Gift card voucher codes work with other codes in a purchase.

              • @smogg: It was a deal run by eBay where if you sell over a certain amount in a month they give you a $50 voucher.

  • Can this be used for renewal

    • +1

Yes, it's not exclusive to new customers. You can purchase now and activate by February 28th 2019.

  • +3

Stacked 5% eBay gift cards on top of 15% off for 2 x 20gb plans for $18.40/month. Score!

    • That's what I just did!

  • Catch connect has a special 365 HALF PRICE(https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/416944).
    $99.50 for 42GB data (3.5G/month, $8.29/Month)

    $135 for 80GB data (6.6GB/Month for $11.25/Month)

    $170 for 180GB data (15GB/Month for $14.16/Month)

    $205 for 300GB data (25GB/Month for $17/Month)

But Catch Club member exclusive. Which kind man can give a voucher code?

    • +2

Exclusive membership requirement totally kills the deal. It will simply miss the mass potential customer base which they could have acquired with little effort in this particular case. It would have been smarter for them to just increase the price little bit but keep it open to everyone. I am sure the new business would have outweighed the benefits of giving something exclusive to the existing Club members or acquiring some new Club members at best. They pro'ly underestimated power of OzBargain. My 2 cents but I doubt if they count. :)

  • Can anyone comment about 4G network speeds? The Kogan website says they only go up to 16mbps which seems slow…

    • +1

      16mbps? No way.
On average, I get about 80mbps on the Vodafone 4G network in my area.

      • Oh okay. Are you with Vodafone or Kogan though?
This is where I saw it https://help.koganmobile.com.au/hc/en-au/articles/206805827-…

        • +2

I'm with Kogan and Kogan uses Vodafone's 4G Network. I'm not sure what they mean by "up to 16mbps" but it's definitely wrong.

        • +5

Kogan is way faster than that. I'm getting 250mbit sometimes!

        • Thanks that’s interesting!

        • I'm also with kogan and speed is def way faster, could be an outdated faq

    • +1

Kogan smashes Optus most places we go. I’m on Optus and wife on Kogan, same phones (IPhone 8)

    • I'm using Kogan mobile and just measured the download speed via fast.com. I got 160Mbps on my new Note 9, in Melbourne CBD. Could be lower in the suburbs with fewer carrier frequencies.

    • +1

      Kogan convertee here.

Since Sydney's hilly terrain gives it notoriously unpredictable signal, those Koganees from Melbourne with crazy high speeds used to pee me off.

At one of the places I lived in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs, you'd only get a few bars of signal and less than 15 Mbits/s at most times. But having recently exploited Kogan in metro areas I now understand all the fuss, with Kogan giving me more 40+ days than I used to get when I tested Amaysim.

Sadly if you live in a beautiful area of Sydney by the coast you may be punished by not being able to use mobile as an NBN replacement. But the bar isn't set very high.

    • Really disappointing.

Had a 12 month plan and it was good at the start.

Got a second 12 months, and regret it. For the last 3 or 4 months, it's borderline unusable.

I consistently hit a speedtests of 0.3 or lower at my office in the Melbourne CBD

  • Can this stack on to my existing plan? Or will it overwrite?

    • +1

      Will overwrite.

  • Do any other plans compete with Kogan these days? I thought I heard some becoming competitive… ignoring no roaming etc.

    • +1

Catch Connect sort of do but their deals require Catch membership.

    • Check out Lebara and Aldi mobile for their low GB prepaid plans.

  • +1

Bang! works out perfectly, my previous annual deal finishes mid-Jan so this works out great ! plus I save even more :)

    • Mine too! Yippee. I'll buy it from kogan.com.au so as to get an Amex cashback.

  • Will it come via email or post?

    • after purchasing this product, you will be sent a unique Kogan Mobile vouchers by email within 24 hours and a Kogan Mobile SIM Starter Pack by post.

Usually the voucher code arrives very quickly via email after purchasing.

      • If one is an existing customer, do they still need the starter pack? They already have sim card that they can continue to use.

        • +1

          No, they don't.
Kogan just throws in a free starter pack with every vouchers bought online.

  • OP, please include the post link to 5% off deal of eBay gift cards (through PayPal) in the description for the benefit of wider community so that they can stack the cards with this deal if they may like.

    Here it is: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/417793

    • +1

      Done, thanks! :)

    • +1

Watch out people doing this, many are finding the gift cards take 4 hours + to arrive.

      • I still haven't received mine, hoping I get it before 12am.

  • My data usage is fairly low on one phone so I could take a risk of going for the smallest plan with an assumption that Kogan will add some additional data to that plan in a few months and make it a reasonably decent data allowance but at this price I decided to not take the risk of running with low data allowance throughout the year. ;)

  • Amazing. Great pick up. Thank you OP!

How have existing customers found coverage? A lot of negative reviews on Product Review makes me cautious.

    • Fine out western sydney suburbs.

Thank you Op purchased another two so I can top up next month for another year.:)

      • Thanks Stussy. Much appreciated!

  • +1

Stop finding bargains!!! Its costing me too much!!! HAHAHAHA

  • don't forget to use your amex card when using paypal for points o and the cashrewards cash back :)

  • Didnt get my gift card in time. If anyone knows any other codes to bring the price down would be much appreciated.

  • Had just purchased both Small ($161.82) and Medium ($222.65) 365 days voucher codes couple of days ago (20th) for recharging purposes, so raised issue with Kogan over how best way to proceed; cancel order and buy through eBay etc. Unfortunately response came just now (too late) and eBay deal code has expired. Was happy with what I paid, but would have saved another $33 if I had cancelled Kokgan order and quickly purchased with eBay 15% code.

eBay Kogan 365 plans now showing:
    Small $173.96
    Medium $239.35
    Large $273.37

    https://help.kogan.com/hc/en-us/articles/360010210694-The-Pr…

    • 365 day Prices I just quoted above were from eBay.

      Kogan Mobile website prices:

      Small $161.82
      Medium $222.65
      Large $254.30
      Extra Large $315.10

  • +1

Dude it took less than 20 hours for the deal to go away! Are you kidding me?

  • Why is the price on Kogan website for XL $315 and on Ebay $352??
