Electricity Sign Up To $170 Cashback + $50 Credit @ Energy Australia via Cashrewards

160

Energy Australia is by far the cheapest in SEQ. Currently beats the 9Saver Deal by around 12% at least for me.

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/416372

16.1 cents/kWh exported
Daily supply charge: 128.26 cents
19.958 c/kWh after 28% discount

The plan best suited for me was Energy Australia Secure Saver Home. I have a 5kw system and never home during the day. 3 people live here.

Obviously pricing will be different depending on where you live and your circumstances.

Prices above include GST.

I suggest you make a spreadsheet and use your last bill usage to help determine what is best for you. Don't just compare EA, but others as well. This will help narrow your list: https://www.energymadeeasy.gov.au/

Update cashback has increased from $126 to $170

30c/day more expensive then my Origin at 21% off usage and supply. Usage cost about the same.

After 167 days the $50 cash back is gone.

The 16c FIT probably makes this plan worth it for solar households. As per the OP’s rates there is only a 3.1cent difference between the usage tariff and the FIT. But that probably depends on whether the 28% discount is applied before or after the exported power is deducted.

Also you would need to export an extra 8kWh per day to cover the high supply charge.

Agree with Nalar above but great description - compare for your own usage etc.

  • I created a spreadsheet earlier comparing Tango, EA, AGL and Origin (9saver). I also have a 5kw system at home and Origin was the cheapest for me followed by AGL.

    • I have 10.8 kw system plus older 1 kw system. Best deal for me is tango despite only getting 11.3c for feedin. What is best feedin rate in Victoria does anyone know? Thanks

      • No way, really? That is quite a power plant you have there.

If the State Gov wanted to do anything right for once they would announce.
We sold your powerplant assets to pay for our overspending therefor we invented a line rental charge in a poor attempt to still bring revenue from nothing.
Our line rental fixed price we the QLD gov collect each day is $.xx regardless of what suplier you use

This is the same as the old mobile fiasco of $10 buys $500 worth of calls @ $2 minute or $20 buys $10,000 worth of calls @ $150 minute
    ++ check for connection fee.

$126 cashback is only for elec+gas. Pretty sure they don't do gas in QLD

Some areas of SEQ have gas

      • Yep. A lot of new estates. Not sure if EA can service them though.

Cashback now $170 as opposed to $126.

      • I mean EA doesn't

I use Wattever.com.au as a comparison site in combination with the government energymadeeasy.gov.au .

  • I cannot sign up via the shop now page because I have a time of use meter.
