Rii Mini Wireless Keyboard from Shoppingsquare $40 + Postage

80

I imported one of these last year direct from Hong Kong and paid more than this price. They have come down quite a bit it seems as they were in the $70-$80 range.

Works well with my PS3.

Is also a laser pointer.

Shipping to Perth was only $4 which for shoppingsquare was a nice surprise as normally they charge ridiculous prices. So to Perth $44 delivered.

Thought some people might like it.

  • Will these work with a Nintendo Wii?

    • I might be able to check for you tonight.. I can try it on mine. No promises though! :)

    • Yep - works perfectly on Wii!

  • same price as dealextreme - http://www.dealextreme.com/p/handheld-rechargeable-2-4g-mini… - but obviously a lot faster shipping!

    • unless they dropship!

    • I actually ordered mine from dealextreme initially.. after it was not posted for 2 weeks (despite showing in stock and delivery in 3 business days) I queried if there was a problem. They just cancelled my order then and there, no explanation or anything. I then ordered off alibaba.com and while it was posted straight away, instead of by EMS like advertised, they sent standard post and it took 2 months to arrive (granted during christmas period)… so for the same price I thought this was a way better deal. :)

  • Thought about getting one of these for my HTPC, but then saved myself $40+ and got "Free Mouse" for my iPhone instead.

Good price if you want it for other things like the the OP's PS3 though.

  • I bought one of these 3-4 months ago (paid a bit more for it) to use with my media center. Great little device.

  • I dont think the price is a deal. If you want it for use with a console you'll want the bluetooth version IIRC. This is the RF version.

I have one of the BT ones and it's fantastic. It poops all over logitech dinovo mini just because the keyboard layout is logical and you can alt+f4. Shift-delete is a pain on the rii, as well as the fact it doesn't have an auto-off (a usb cable is required to charge the proprietary internal battery, it's not a standard AAA or anything). You cant tap the mouse pad to left-click either (not a real fault, just something I am used to from laptops and my dinovo mini).

I got the BT version from pandawill. It came reasonably fast and only cost a few dollars more than the RF version. However, dont expect any customer support ever from pandawill (judging by online complaints).

    • Can't comment on BT versus RF.. the RF version works with my PS3 but I only sit about 3m away of course.

As for price.. cheapest on static ice is $85. http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=Rii+wireless+ke…

Though I notice they call it a Skymaster though the pic shows the brand as Rii??

The skymaster ones on static ice, the cheapest is around $48 + postage. So $44 delivered still seems (a small) bargain still. Also static ice still show it at $49.95 and links to the price which is on special so seems legit discount on the normal price.

    • Are you sure its the Rf version , on the site it says

" 2.4G wireless technology to provide you with the farthest to 30 m PC control capabilities"

so maybe its wireless, hope so i ordered one!

      • The 2.4G version is RF, definitely not Bluetooth

  • This is one of the best htpc keyboards at below $40. I own the BT version, got it here for US$40 last year http://goo.gl/ozM32

The range on this thing is shorter than expected (2m?), connection also drops when it doesn't get line of sight. But you can easily modify the receiver to make it a lot better.
