If this is the US variant, you might wanna reconsider getting it as you cannot use Samsung Pay on it. It uses a Snapdragon 845 chipset and flashing Australian (XSA) firmware on it would brick it. There's also the matter of supported bands.

    • flashing Australian (XSA) firmware on it would brick it

No necessarily, it could but not always tho.

Assuming AllPhones doesnt jack up the price tomorrow, you could get local stock of this with 2 years warranty for $986 delivered by:

    1. Using Peppy at checkout on eBay via this deal starting at 10am on 19th November: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/417162
    2. Using Cash Rewards for another 1% off.

Link to the phone: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Au-Stock-Samsung-Galaxy-S9-Plus-… (Currently $1,248.00 delivered via express delivery).

Also worth noting the deal in this post is 64GB model and ships from the US, but with the 8% cash back from Cash Rewards, it would likely end up being around $909 delivered.

  • You may want to avoid this - I believe the US version also has the snapdragon chip & often carrier locked.

    In stock.
    International Product from outside Australia
Get it as soon as Friday, November 23 - Thursday, November 29 when you choose Priority International Delivery at checkout.
Ships from and sold by Amazon US.

    • From what I've seen on comparison videos, it shows the SD SoC to have better performance than the Exynos version. Not sure if its carrier locked though, that'd be a deal breaker.

      • Also, you can't root a Snapdragon, only Exynos phones.

    • Is "carrier locked" same as what we would call locked or unlocked? It does say it's unlocked by Samsung.

      • Most US phone ROMs are carrier specific - ie. it will boot with the AT&T logo & include AT&T software/bloatware - you can't root this phone so you're stuck with whatever ROM it comes with. You maybe able to flash the firmware, but you'd have to goto XDA to look for instructions.

        • But it says its unlocked by Samsung? What indications is there that it would be locked it specifically says its not?

    • It does have the Snapdragon chip. Which has FM radio, unlike the Exynos chip. It says the phone is unlocked, and it would be crazy if they sold it internationally if it was locked to a US carrier.

      Compatible with all major U.S. carriers - Verizon, AT&T, Sprint & T-Mobile

This deal should now be cheaper with an increase in cash back from Cash Rewards from 8% to 11%: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/417514

  • The S9 is now $730 delivered here
