  • Is it in stock or a long wait time like the A7 III?

  • +2

The price is excellent! It's so close to the never on discount/in stock a7iii!

  • Any advice if it's worth the extra $1k to get the bundled Sony Zeiss 24-70mm Lens?

Or is it better to get the body and find the lens separately

    • +2

I would suggest you look into the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 for sony instead. Fantastic lens at a fraction of the price compared to the G-Master equivalent. Otherwise, if you're set on the Sony/Zeiss 24-70 F4, It can be bought for around $900 from ebay with the current 10% off.

    • +1

      I would avoid this one.

      Go for either:
      - Tamron 28-70 2.8
      - Sony 24-105 F4
      - Sony 24-240mm (it is not much slower than the 24-70mm f4). I use this one due to excellent range

      • You mean Tamron 28-75

      • +1

Sony 24-240 very very soft lens can only resolve low megapixels so it goes against the high megapixel count

        • -1

Have you used it? It is certainly not "very very soft", that's nonsense. Perfectly usable for many applications and not much different to the 24-70mm F4

          • -1

@qvinto: used it for around 9 months
its been tested to resolve 9 megapixels

maybe your 24-70 is a poorer copy and your 24-240 a better one

            • @thelastnoob: I have used mine on A9 and A7r3 for a while and it is very usable. Perhaps you had a poor copy. Unless your main use case is for landscape photos which will be printed in large format then this lens it is more than sufficient and arguably more usable than the 24-70mm f4. The sharpness and speed across the 24-70mm range is not that different between the two.

Also how many photos have you missed because they have slightly lower sharpness than ideal, versus photos which are beyond the reach of your lens?

Also it is not like I don't know what a good lens can produce. I have many high end primes and zooms (e.g. most of sony GM and zeiss primes, sony 70-200mm GM etc.) . Yet the Sony 24-240 is the one I take when I travel overseas and have not been disappointed with the results

Sigma are also releasing a range of e-mount Art lenses.

    • I have a 24-70 F4 purchased when A7 first launched, it is not worth it.

  • +7

I ended up getting one from Sony Maribyrnong store. They price matched it and gave me the $500 EFTPOS card; no need to wait for redemption from website.

  • From the CameraPro website, it says Participating product is [ILCE7RM3wSEL2470z Sony A7R Mark III with Sony Zeiss 24-70mm Lens]
but the sony official website says body only.

Just ordered 7, myself. One for each day of the week.

      • Just ordered 21, one for each meal.

      • just ordered 10000, one for each shot.

Team this up with the Sony 35mm F2.8, and NOTHING with this little weight will beat it for a light weight travel DSLR. Its lighter than most crop DSLR with a zoom lens, but with huge resolution, VERY sharp images and great in low light. Zoom with your feet and you are done.

  • I have had this camera since release and it's a supurb piece of kit. I use my old a mount 16-35 with adapter and 85mm Sony for portraits
Can't go wrong with this price point

  • Thanks, great price! Collected one today from Jb Hi Fi, and they price matched too.

    • can you share your receipt from Jb hi Fi

      • Also got it matched at JB, as the Sony Kiosk was 45min drive for me.
Initially they didn't want to price match, but mentioned the Sony Kiosk were doing it , and so they agreed

        • I couldn't find any sony centre in Perth :( have to try from JB hi fi. so need anythign to show them

  • Anyone got a list of participating Sony Australia Authorised Dealer?
