Waste of time, and NOT a good promotion for wotif. All the rooms (in Melbourne anyway) were on Mondays or Wednesdays, and even trying to book one of those bought up a sold out. I dont mind these sort of promotions, but they should indicate that weekdays (only) will be offered, and advise of what hotels were going to be up.
Obviously not everyone can get a bargain, but in the end with all the build up it just annoys people who wont use them again. I've used wotif many times in the past, dont think I'd bother again and they certainly wont be my first choice.

of the hotels I clicked in QLD, none had more than just a single calendar date available.
Such that, if you couldn't go on 1 April etc, you missed out.
The Clarion Gateway had Sunday nights available, as did the Chifley Geelong.

Their booking system is atrocious. You get all the way to the end of the booking only to find out it's gone in the time it took you to paste your cc number. So it directs you back to pick a date and still show it as available. So you give up and pick another (Monday?!) date. Rpt 11 times per attempt (Happy 11 Birthday, OI WTF!).
Oh, and then if you get through the process you get 2 different server errors. I understand "first in", but the system has to be designed to not waste your time. Unfriend. Unexist, if possible.
I was a bit baffled by that also - I tried making the booking and it failed but it was not clear immediately why. So I tried another date … nope … another date … nope … give up.
On the plus side though, their booking engine was up. So many sites fall over under such situations - this one did remain up even if the offerings were not as great as hoped.

and 5 attempts at another in freycinet with no sucess - which is a real shame but meh at least I don't have to hit up my boss for time off.

I managed to get one night in adelaide, it was probably easier for people like me or in TAS cause there was less people trying.
Damn I knew it. Left my desk to help someone out for half an hour, came back and the deal is gone! Looks like I haven't missed much.
I'm making a comment so I can vote negative.
Sucky range of hotels on even suckier dates. I was there within 30sec and not a single Friday/Sat night available for any of the Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane CBD (or Blue Mountains) hotels, and almost no contiguous 2 night stays on any day of the week.
I liked Wotif until now, so this promotion had the opposite of the desired effect on me.
This is like one of those Jetstar sales with half the nation trying to access it.
Just when you thought COTD/ Jetstar sales were ridiculous, this one takes the baton of worst gimmick ever!!!

lol i was waiting for this lol. With their disclaimer i posted on 1st page, i was waiting for them to prove me wrong, but to do that they would most likely actually have had to pay for quite a few rooms out of wtf's marketing budget to really make a splash which would live up to the hype.
