  • Looking at a new basic printer for a sister. This will suit quite nicely. No local HN stores have any in stock. (try to buy local where possible + 15.00 postage on line) Thanks.

  • Good price…

Check cartridge prices on ebay first. I could be wrong but from memory this one is expensive. I typically get it fot $12 a set for my canon mfc

I bought this printer 12 months ago. Very hard to find generic ink cartridges and genuine Canon ones are expensive, even online/ebay/… etc

  • I was told to avoid cannon because it uses ink every time you turn it on in a clear print head routine. Also told HP cartridge has print head on cartridge and cannon does not. Also hp replace and refill is cheaper. Can anyone confirm any of this please.

Fire it's the cost of running the printer that's important not the purchase price

  • The most important feature of a printer is that knockoff cartridges are available (with chips) for cheap on eBay.
We have a Canon MX926 and cartridges cost around $1-2 each with chips already fitted from eBay (20 cartridges cost me $24.59 AUD inc shipping last year)
Never had an issue with any of them.
Check the printer has the features you want, then check eBay for cheap cartridges before buying.
Don't be sucked in to the BS regarding cheap ink. Its all the same.

Anyone that buys genuine cartridges is a few crayons short of a box.
If you can't buy the knock off cartridges avoid the printer.

Update: I'd avoid this printer. Even the knock off cartridges are expensive at the moment $64 per set.

I've got this printer - bought it for 20% off in an ebay sale. Bad call. scanner keeps dropping out, forcing me to sometimes rescan pages several times before they work and ink is ridiculous price, even generic which is also expensive and hard to find from reliable sellers

I think better off getting a cheap or second hand black and white laser and leave any colour printing for at work or Officeworks or something.. All injets just garbage.
