  • Does refurbished mean that it comes with a new drum and toner?

    • From experience, it comes with whatever is left over. Last time I got a unit with over half of toner remaining.

      • Sounds like a good deal. My $30 cannon inkjet costs that much to print 20 pages :/

        • Canon inkjet not using self-refill… those are more expensive than perfume ~~

  • No wireless but 1GbE port

  • Possible to wirelessly print if connected to gbe? Is there a working app for Android?

    • I use wavlink wireless print server to print over wifi. Works okay most of the time, but not as seamless as a proper wifi printet

    • 4700P should work with the Konika Minolta Mobile Print app once connected with ethernet as it is listed as supported.

      • +1

Can confirm 4700p works with konika minolta app. And the printer is also available via network.

        • Via Ethernet to router? Thanks for the update bought the 4700p too and was wondering if I needed to buy the wireless card (which is non-existent online)

How much toner was left and what lifespan left on drum?

          • @J B S: Yes via ethernet to router.

            Cartridge: 80%
            Maintenance kit life: 88%
            Imaging life : 90%

            12k prints till date.

Printer is pretty beat up with heaps of scratch but pretty happy with the remaining cartridge.

            • @4kbargain: Apart from the cosmetic damage looks like you scored well. Thanks for your updates

        • Did you have to do anything special? I can't get any to connect to the app.

Doesn't find anything when using the auto search function. Also tried printing the ip address from the printer and adding manually, it just searches forever

          • @krisspy: Did you enable dhcp?

            From setting-ip/ports-last option-dhcp enable

            • @4kbargain: Thanks, that did the trick

              • @krisspy: Did you have to set a static ip on the printer and reserve that ip on the router then turn off DHCP? I had to as the printer would keep changing IP addresses and the app wouldn’t work unless I rescanned and added the printer again which was a pain in the arse for other users in the house.

Side note got my 4700p other day with 60% toner, 100% imaging unit and 100% maintenance kit. Few scratches but overall stoked for $15 and now can do away with rip off HP ink jet

                • +1

@J B S: I setup a IP reservation on my router based on the MAC address of the printer so it would always allocate it the same IP address and left the DHCP setting on the printer on.

You scored well with your printer. Mine was pretty good too. It had 58% toner, 76% imaging unit and 60% maintenance kit with a total page count just over 62K.

  • Do these come with ink? Looking to possibly replace my cheapo HP inkjet printer with this one since Lazer is cheaper in the long-run.

  • It doesn't look like there are any cheap ink options for these.

  • I just came here to say the mono laser printer I got from this deal almost 12 years ago is still going strong! It was $19.50 with a $10 HN voucher I received. Generic toner is $19 every 18 months or so.

    • Unfortunately it looks like there aren't similarly cheap options for toner cartridges for these printers.

      • Can't you just buy generic toner on AliExpress and refill them? They come with a plug so you can just drill a hole in the old one.

        • I don't know. I'll have to let someone else answer that one.

    Condition: As is

    So not [Refurbished]?

  • Just ordered the 4700P one to replace the old Epson inkjet I got off my sister that only works when it wants to.

    • Same, ordered 2. Hopefully one of them atleast near half full on toner

      • If a toner does 20,000 pages like the link you posted above, half full would be 10,000 pages. That's plenty!

  • +1

Picked up a 4700P and the toner cartridge has approx 58% remaining so pretty happy about that.
    A bargain for $15.

    • Nice one. Thanks for the info. Is the condition good? Was it clean or covered in dust etc?

I ordered mine yesterday but no email that it has been sent yet

      • +1

It was clean and in good condition. A scuff here or there but very good for a second hand printer.

        • Thanks for that. I am not concerned about a scuff mark here and there when I’m only paying $15 for a laser printer. I was more worried they may have been sitting in storage for a while and covered in dust inside and out.

Looking forward to getting my one once it’s shipped.

    • How long did it take to process your order? Ordered morning Thursday and still nothing

      • Was your order for pickup or delivery?
Mine was for pickup and when it was still pending the next day, I called their Sydney Office to check my order and they said that they had lots of orders to process for these $15 printers and that my order would be ready to pick up soon so I then headed to their Winston Hills warehouse to pick it up.

        • Yeah pick up in Winston Hills aswell

  • @mikey84au what is the PIN code on these printers or how to reset/remove one?

    • +1

The 4700P I purchased had no PIN set. From the user manual I found online, you can try the following steps:

      Erasing non-volatile memory
Erase individual settings, device and network settings, security settings, and embedded solutions by
      following these steps:

      1. Turn off the printer.

      2. Hold down 2 and 6 on the keypad while turning the printer on. Release the buttons only when the
screen with the progress bar appears.
The printer performs a power-on sequence, and then the Configuration menu appears. When the
printer is fully turned on, a list of functions appears on the printer display.

      3. Press the up or down arrow button until Wipe All Settings appears.
The printer will restart several times during this process.
Note: Wipe All Settings securely removes device settings, solutions, jobs, and passwords from the
        printer memory.

      4. Navigate to:
        Back >Exit Config Menu
The printer will perform a power-on reset, and then return to normal operating mode.

      • Thank you very much @athua I bought 4402P model and this sequence does not work for me, or at least I was not able to make it work after few 3 tries.

After following the steps 1, 2 on step 3 pressing up or down buttons triggers the PIN login screen immediately. This does not happen on normal startup - in other words I can enter the menu.

If you can share the link where you found the manual, I can try to look for the 4402P version.

@mikey84au can you please provide some response, this is not a deal if printer is PIN locked.

        • +1

You can download the user guide for the 4402P from here:

          https://kmbs.konicaminolta.us/support-downloads/user-manuals…

          Erasing printer memory
To erase volatile memory or buffered data, turn off the printer.
To erase non‐volatile memory or individual settings, device and network settings, security settings, and
          embedded solutions, do the following:
1 From the control panel, navigate to:

          Settings > OK
          Device > OK
          Maintenance > OK
Out of Service Erase > OK

2 Select Sanitize all information on nonvolatile memory, and then press OK

3 To start the job, select Continue, and then press OK

4 Follow the instructions on the display.

          Restoring factory default settings
1 From the control panel, navigate to:

          Settings > OK
          Device > OK
          Restore Factory Defaults > OK
          Restore Settings > OK

2 Select Restore all settings, and then press OK
3 Select RESTORE, and then press OK

          • @athua: Thank you again @athua unfortunately this did not work either, after selecting Settings->Device submenu, PIN login prompt is presented.

Seeing that @mikey84au ignores my question while pushing another printer deal since I asked for help, regretfully negative vote from me on this and future deals from this company.

There is a security reset jumper on the system board which you should be able to access from a panel on the side of the printer. It has a lock icon next to it. Hopefully the unit has not been configured with 'No Effect' for the Security Reset Jumper setting.

          Security Reset Jumper
          - Enable “Guest” access*
          - No Effect

Specify the effect of using the security reset jumper.
          Notes:
          • The jumper is located beside a lock icon on the controller board.
          • Enable “Guest” access provides guests with full access control.
          • No Effect means that the reset has no effect on the printer security
          configuration.

          • @athua: I'll try that next when I have some time later today. thank you again for your care and help

            • @dr: @athua this finally worked. For anyone else who may face the same problem jumper is yellow color, as shown in the 4402P jumper location photo expires

For posterity in case if the uploaded image vanishes, jumper is located few cm above and to the left of the CPU. Another reference is white ribbon that is virtually in the middle of the board horizontally and couple of cm from the top of the board is on the left side of the jumper.

              • @dr: Glad to hear the reset jumper worked. You now have a working laser printer :)

              • @dr: Thank You for your message. Mine was pin locked as well so used jumper to reset.

Do we have to reset the jumper position or just leave it in 2-3 position?

                • @4kbargain: I left the jumper in position shown in the photo i shared, after which PIN was not required. I did not try returning jumper to original position so I don't know if current position disables PIN or resets PIN.

                  • +2

@dr: I returned it back to original position and it does reset pin.

                    • @4kbargain: @dr and @4kbargain, did your 4402P come with toner? I called and they stated that there's no toner in these printers, which is contrary to what I've read here.

        • Did your 4402P come with toner?

  • +1

    Bought 4700P.

Pin protected, but pin was written on side of unit.
Back button is broken on device Looks okay, presses okay, just doesn't go back. Can only navigate menus one way.
Unit has scuff marks but seems intact.

    Toner low: 2% remaining
    Maintenance Kit Life Remaining: 42%
    Imaging Unit Life Remaining: 80%

Seems to have an 2017 firmware on a 2013 printer. Joined network via DHCP quickly and is printable.

Took about 4 business days to arrive across Sydney.

    • I’m still waiting for my 4700p as they reckon they are in the process of moving warehouse. Shame about the back button considering they state full working condition. Good news about the imaging drum you won’t need to replace that for like another 60,000 pages

    • +1

I bought 2 and the both had around 130-160k prints.

80% toner on one of them, about 30% on the other one. Text one screen is intermittently flashing on the printer with alot of toner left.

  • +1

Yes back button is annoying. Can't imagine these get a lot of testing and there is likely zero "refurbishment" other than removing identifying marks from previous owner. I think you are rolling the dice a bit on ewaste vs value. Will see how well it goes with the 2% toner and hopefully determine its worth investing in a new toner which is probably x8 the initial cost.

Once online the web UI can be used quicker than the keypad. UI is old school HTML with a few parts done with a java applet. No java in my browser so cannot run that.

Stats show 106K pages printed, 115 sides. First used 2017, current cartridge installed 2018. So I am guessing its been sitting on the shelf for many years waiting to be rehomed.

  • Anyone know whether this did duplex? Is not exactly clear on whether it's an automatic duplex or not from the information I gathered.

    • +1

My 4700p is auto print on both sides

      • Cheers. Any reason you went with the 4700P instead of the cheaper 4402P?

        • The toner was cheaper to buy for some reason. However my printer arrived with 60% toner so I won’t be needing toner for a long time. Probably have 15,000 sheets left in the cartridge they gave me

    • Duplex appears to be included based on an online specsheet.

If so, this is a really good deal for a laser printer, though largely offset due to the potential need to jump the device and this being a headache for many.

      • I think all bizhub are duplex they were pretty expensive laser printers in their day (2017). I think only a few people not many had to move jumper pin to remove old admin password. I never had that problem
