YouTube Premium (AdFree YouTube, YouTube Music, Google Music) for ~A$4.23 (No Fee Card) Per Month (Russian VPN Required)

3770

Similar to doweyy's deal on cheaper Netflix, the users at Mydealz have worked out a way to get cheaper Youtube Premium. Everything mentioned in doweyy's post applies here e.g. no fee credit card so I'll just keep things simple.

Youtube Premium will give you access to -
• Ad-free videos: Watch videos without interruptions
• Save offline: Save videos and songs on your mobile device to watch offline
• Background play: Keep videos or music playing when using other apps or when your screen’s off
• Audio mode: Listen to audio only on the YouTube Music app
• Google Play Music Subscription (when available in your country) is included at no additional cost

Current pricing is $14.99 per month in Australia whereas Russia is 199 RUB which works out to be about A$4.23 per month. This workaround should work for new and existing customers.

Again, the trick to making this work is having access to a VPN service. If you're signed up to one then the rest of the process should be fairly simple.

Instructions -
1. Connect a VPN to the server Russia
2. View YouTube.com then click on your profile picture in the top right corner and change the location from Russia to Australia.
3. Click on this link, then click on Learn more.
4. Enter Russian address and pay by credit card.
Termination takes place under this link
Example of a Russian address.
City: My City
Street: My street 1
State: Tulskaya oblast

If you don't see value on it, don't pay. Simple as that.

I have google home and this is really useful as we love playing music from google or youtube music, and you don't get to see those annoying ads when watching from Youtube.

    • I don't understand why people accept these type of needless premium subscription services.

Agree 100%. Pay for a service to block things that shouldn't be there in the first place HUH?? Payment only encourages the issuing of more crap ALA

"i have no way to block youtube ads on my shieldTV without rooting that i know of and they are starting to get aggressive with the ads"

In this boat myself but I will never pay, it is basically being held to ransom.

        because they are stuuupid.

        Negs welcomed :)

Nothing in life is free. If you want free content then you have to pay or watch ads that pay for it

    • So how do you get google music free?

  • I've constantly had us$11.99 as the price when signing up using Russian VPN. What's going wrong with this?

  • -1

    youtube has ads?

  • My google music charts all Russian hits, anyway to change?

    • Go into your profile and change country to Australia as per instructions in OPs post

      • I have done this but my Google play music top charts are still Russian hmm

        • Same I think google play music is geolocked

        • Oh no. This is not good. So I won't sign up the Russia family then

          • @g0dskitchen: Still got YouTube music though, that’s better than google play music too an extent, I also think that google play music is going to be phased out, seems outdated a bit

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: quality is better on G.music. I get annoyed by the difference in volume across songs in YTM.

        • Sorry, I’m using YouTube music. Didn’t know google play music was still around

  • Great deal OP!
Will be sure to keep an eye out on exchange rates now.
Also FYI as it would be an overseas purchase, If you want to avoid the foreign transaction fees, you should be using a card with none. e.g. 28degrees

    • Shouldn't have much trouble with exchange rates - if anything, the rouble will just keep falling..

  • Family plan, Russian way, how much per month?

    • +1

      299RUB

      • omg almost a $1 per month per person!

  • +1

It's worked! Thanks! I got the family for 299RUB/ month.
    Excellent!

  • +1

Going by all these deals we need a good deal for vpn now lol.

  • +1

Uhm has anyone actually tried this? When I go overseas with my YouTube premium bought from Australia, everything fails. Downloads, background play, etc. as the premium features are only supported in the country you purchased it for….

Seems like a major oversight unless someone can demonstrate otherwise that it works without routing all my future YouTube traffic via Russia.

    • It works in all countries that it is available in, so in the countries on this link Youtube Premium should work.

  • It worked. Declined my card, but then I noticed a Paypal option and that worked. Charged 199RUB!

  • I have a substantial amount of $$ attached to my google account anyone successfully paid for rus service with aud Google credit? Anyone know if it is possible?

    • +1

I don't think it is. I've got a subscription for something else that's charged in USD and I can't set it to be payed from my AUD Google Play credit. I get an error saying "Purchase currency is not supported".

  • The family, can we pay for 12 months instead of monthly?

    • There's only monthly:(

I was hoping we could lock in 12 months!

  • +3

Setting your proxy settings to a Russian server works just as well.

    http://www.gatherproxy.com/proxylist/country/?c=Russia

    • +1

Worked perfectly! Defeats the need trying to find a free / trial Russian VPN without giving out my card details. Thanks!

      • There are plenty of free VPN trials that don't request any payment method.

    • Doesn't seem to work for me. IP leak verifies that I have a Russian IP (DNS in Finland for some reason).

All my credit cards and PayPal fail. Tried in incognito mode too.

      Any suggestions?

  • +2

I am using AD block on my chrome, and never watched any youtube ads.

    • works a treat!!

  • +3

Pm if anyone wants to join my Russian family, we are adopting 😊

    • How much to pay?

      • $2 pm

        • $2 per month? I'm in!

          Pm me plz Sir!

        • -5

Stop trying to profit off us. 6.16/6 should be 1 dollar, max 1.2 for each member.

    • Pm me plz.

    • I'm keen to join. Send me a PM with the details!

    • +1

Thanks for all the pm, our family is now complete 😊 Not adopting anymore

  • Does anyone know if you can have people in different states but in Australia on Family Plan (299RUB per month)? I get that different countries will not work.

    • I am guessing it will work

      • Thanks mate. Lets see if anyone can confirm.

    • confirmed it works

      • How did you join the family group? I created a dummy account to sign up for Russian Family, but can't add my main without getting "different country" error - does everyone joining have to change their address in google settings?

        • yes and also have to remain connected to Russia while accepting the invitation

          • @ujwols: I dunno what's up. I've tried everything and no luck. My Russian dummy account is set up with a Russian profile and Australian profile. Invited my main. Main can't join. Tried adding a Russian payment profile to my main, all matching addresses, still can't join. All best tried with and without Russian VPN. Don't wanna mess about too much incase Google decided to lock my account for unusual activity. Wondering if it's because the Russian dummy is on the 30 day trial which my main has already used. Our because my main is already part of another family.

            • @chriise:

Our because my main is already part of another family.
That's why. An account can only be linked to one family at a time.

NordVPN plan is approx $120 for 3 years. Is everyone using some VPN at home and if there is any better one or NordVPN is good enough in terms of speed when connecting to US, canada.

    • +1

$120 AFTER you claim cashrewards. Just clarifying for those playing at home.

  • Does PIA not have a russian server?

  • Keep getting "An unexpected error has occurred" message. Signed into VPN and using an address for 300000 Russia

    • Same error message on Windows (firefox / chrome) and Android firefox (bankwest CC and paypal) but was able to get it on Android chrome (bankwest CC) on my Torguard VPN.

  • What would be the cost with Paypal after the exchange rate surcharge?

  • Trying to join my russian family. Using speedify but it keeps saying along the lines "your family is not located in the same country"

    any help plz?

    • Getting the same issue - even using VPN for joining the family group won't work

      • yeh, can anyone help please.

        • Hey did you get this to work?

        • Not sure if there was anything special but the process I took:
          - logged into youtube via VPN.
          - swapped region from RU to Australia (still on VPN)
          - I signed up to & paid for family plan 299RUB (still on VPN)
          - Diconnected VPN, signed out of everything. Signed back in via normal route
          - confirmed had premium family plan
          - Then sent out all the invites
          - 3 invitees accepted while at my place (my mates)
          - 2 other invitees accepted the next day without issue

again, nothing special but hope my experience helps someone else trying to set this up

          • @spikiii: Which location did the 2 other invites accept?

            • @Homr: still within same city (BNE)

              • @spikiii: and @Homr - Just wanted to update to say i got this working. Did it on an existing account that had already expired a free trial and already had the family members in the group before signing up for premium. I got a message before signing up that all members would be included on the subscription. However, I still had to set up a new Russian payment profile for this subscription - you can see this under pay.google.com. I don't really mind this, but would be good to clarify if you also have that same set up on your profile.

          • @spikiii: Thanks - did U set up a Russia payment profile when U paid for premium? Did you keep this profile? I'm going to try again without the throwaway account..

            • @chriise: I set up the Russian payment on an existing Youtube account profile. It did not have family setup prior.

Setup Russian payment on VPN, setup family non-VPN. :)

              • @spikiii: Awesome. And similarly you can't delete the Russian profile now as the YouTube sub is connected to that?

  • Worked for me.. thanks OP!

  • Anyone know if all content is available? Or they decide by ip and not by membership?
Doing the same thing for Apple Music but lately some albums and tracks started to be unavailable in Russia

You could get most of the features provided by YouTubeVanced/YouTube premium without rooting your device in a privacy focused app with no user activity tracking and open-source code on github for anyone to audit. Details here NewPipe.

Can be downloaded using F-Droid app store - no rooting is necessary, installs parallel to play store on your phone or tablet with no conflicts/issues and manages updates to its apps in the same way play store does.

Been using it for ~1.5yrs with no issues.

Description below from their GitHub page

Edit: Added extra text from their GitHub page and typo

    Description

NewPipe does not use any Google framework libraries, nor the YouTube API. Websites are only parsed to fetch required info, so this app can be used on devices without Google services installed. Also, you don't need a YouTube account to use NewPipe, which is copylefted libre software.

For my use case, youtube premium subscription gives me features that third party app / ad blocker cant do:

      • Ad free Youtube in all devices including Android TV (I can install the third party app in each device, but using original youtube app is so convenient)
      • Watch history and continue to watch youtube from different device (same google account)
      • Google play music on different phones (love the interface and collections of GPM compare to Apple Music)
      • asking all my Google Home and Home Mini to play music collections
  • Confirmed that for existing subscription
need to first cancel and re-subscribe

Saved me $12 per month on a family plan (From $18/month to RU299/month)

Not sure whether there will be geo block in the future
but atm, I can use play music and youtube red as usual using the new family plan

    • Have you had any success adding other family members to the plan? Did they have to change their address settings to join? Simply using a VPN still gave me a 'different country' error

      • My partner is already in the google family before I cancel my google family plan. When I join YouTube premium, seems she auto get into the family as well?

  • Thanks OP.

First, got declined by 28Degrees and then changed to Coles MC and it's worked perfectly.

  • 28 degrees and travel money card not working.

"Transaction declined: invalid payment method. Learn more [OR-CCSEH-05]'

Anyone got any tips for CC to use?

    • +1

Try using Speedify VPN in PC

    • I don't think it is the VPN. its to do with CC processing.

      • +1

it worked with Speedify+28degree for me

        • Didnt work with nordvpn and 28 degrees for me. Will look at speedily

        • Not working on speedify either.

          • @aimon: I use Russia proxy instead of VPN
            and 28degree work

  • Signed up for family as per instructions

Then sent an invite to my wife and she clicks on it and says "looks like you are in a different country than the family manager". Does she need to be on VPN as well while accepting it?

    • +1

Yes, she will probably need to create new account while being connected to VPN. There seems to be problem with the existing account

      • +1

Don't have to. Turned VPN on and logged in into my missus account, changed location to Russia and accepted an invitation then reverted back and all is working fine.

        • +1

where and how did you change location to Russia?

          • +1

@ujwols: just logged in to my mrs account on VPN .. accepted invitation. no need to change location.

Let's see how long this lasts!!!
