2017 models. It's best to pay more and get the 2018 models, especially for 13 inch MPB.
What is the difference in specs and price?
Quad-core i5 in the new 13" vs dual in the old is the main change. This is about $700 cheaper though (compared to pricing on the Apple site) and a lot of people won't notice a substantial difference in performance (single-threaded performance is similar between the two).

Thanks. I am looking for my teen for school. I can get the 2017 non touch bar with 256 gb including 3 years warranty for around $2265. Not sure if extra few hundreds $ will be worth it for the touch bar and latest version.

@EnergicAU: In this case, you can get a brand new one for only $80 more. So it is definitely not worth it.
If you were saving like $500 then maybe worth considering refurbs.

I have been using Microsoft OS for my whole life and it has always been outdated in a very short time and I can forget about the resale value. But it doesn't look like the same with Apple IOS. Am I right?

@yht: Then sure, I'd agree that resale value is usually less for Windows PCs. Partly offset by the much lower price for same specs though.

You're not missing much. Touchbar is not really that useful.

whys it not really that useful? every app has different shortcuts. seems like it would be useful if you actually use it. some things might be quicker than the keyboard shortcuts or moving the trackpad/mouse to the toolbar in app.
Hmm.. maybe I just don't like to use it or haven't really take the time to make the most of it. Probably the only useful bit I use is access using Touch ID. Apart from that, I don't feel like missing out anything if there was no Touch Bar. My personal experience anyway..
Also, with the Thunderbolt port.. 2 is enough for most use. I only have ever used 2 simultaneously, one for the dongle the other for charging. Though I could really just charge from the dongle. I can't imagine times when I'm going to need more than 2.
I have two MBP's (with and without the Touchbar). I absolutely love it. With BetterTouchTool you can assign scripts/functions to it. I prefer it, but each to their own.
