    Whats the USB amp output?

    • +1

      3A total

  • Are these AU or CN upside plug?

    • Its an Australian plug

    • Wanted to buy it but I think this must be CN upside down plug. Our AU plug has two prongs at the top.

With this design, if you have a L shape plug cable, it will block the USB ports as per @hyunjun24 pointed out below.

  • Does anyone know if products like this are suitable for controlling hot water tank that's electricity powered?
If not, what would be the best way to remotely turn on/off hot water system?
We have a hot water tank in the laundry room but the cable seems to go inside the wall somewhere.

If it’s 240 volt, then this should be fine.

But then you have to decide if you trust this brand…

      • Any recommended ones?

How many amps does the hot water unit require? that's what you need to look at, this unit is 10amps, i'm going to side with no, as I think they are much greater than 10amps

Like what @Trantor said, pay attention to the power rating. 10A and below if you want to use this device.

Also, if your water tank is 2.4kW and under, it can be plug in or hard wired. Larger ones are hard wired only. If you managed to locate the outlet your tank plugs into, then it's just as simple as placing this device between that connection. If it's hard wired you will need a different device.

That said, for an untested/uncertified product like this I would not want to place a 10A load on it, or having it as a permanent installation hidden in some wall (legalities aside). To me it's just a recipe for disaster.

          • @m9: If it's hard wired, can it still be remotely managed /auto managed with some device?
All I am looking for is that the tank turns on and off at certain times.

              @palmtree02: https://www.itead.cc/smart-home/sonoff-pow-r2.html

Yes and much more. Scheduling, timer, power usage monitoring + history, integration with Google Home/Alexa, integration with home automation (Home Assistant, OpenHAB, Domoticz, etc), program scenes, multi user controls, etc.

Have fun but don't burn your house down :P

              • @m9: home automation integration is awesome, these will work aslong as the power load is under the rated amount (10A)

                • @retain222: Where does it say it will work with Home Assistant, OpenHAB, Domoticz, etc?

Using custom firmware or Tuya? Please elaborate.

                  • @m9: there are sources available online to use products like these to use with home assistant etc. ()

                    • @retain222: That means Tuya and no it is not the same as Tasmota as you can't run it locally on LAN only. A lot of us with MQTT smart devices run them on custom firmware (ie: Tasmota) on a separate VLAN with our locally hosted home automation broker/server with restricted internet access. Latency is kept to a minimum and with no unauthorized internet connections to the outside world.

No, you need to make sure the load is under 10A.

Op. If I plug my lamp into this, the USB ports on the unit will be blocked by the lamp cord? It is a design fault I think? I ordered one but want to cancel!

    • Hello Hyunjun24, the usb ports will not be blocked by your lamp cord, it is a AU port positioned correctly :)
