  • Thanks Op real good deal, on this tomorrow.

  • Awesome deal..

Dont think i need to upgrade to brushless though

  • +1

Was it ever $799? Got it at $399 3-4 months ago.

    • i'm not sure, price hipster recorded the price at 799 and said that it dropped today to 399

      • +2

Price hipster is wrong as it shows it was $799 since the start of the year. Didnt even show it as dropping when I bought mine.

        • yeah they could be, but still is a great price , each of them seperatly will cost heaps

        • +1

yeah I've noticed Price Hipster has a lot less historical detail on Amazon items vs Camelx3. Must have pretty coarse updates.

          • +1

@VehemenceThePhoenix: When i bought mine, it was $399 for over 1 month until they sold out so price hipster is way off. I suspect $399 is the normal price as I've only ever seen it at $399 and they get them in batches, sell out for a while and when they get them back in, they are $399.

            • @8azinga: bunnings dropped the price tho , because they advertising it on there home page

              • +1

@hitman48: Doesn't mean they dropped the price. Likely the got a new batch of stock in from what I've seen.

                • +6

                  @8azinga: Just a promotion, its always $399

          • -1

@VehemenceThePhoenix: Lol amazon is a huge site, if jazoom could im sure he would be doing them more often, hes a champ.

            • @Seedy seed: Thanks for the kind words Seedy seed. This is indeed the issue. Amazon is different to the other stores. Price Hipster certainly doesn't have a complete index.

        • +1

Yep PH got it wrong for some reason, Google cache shows it as $399 a few days ago.

          • @tin tin: I have found inconsistencies with Price Hipster Bunnings prices before, ended up working out it was because Bunnings had different prices for different states, my guess is that your state had the price drop a lot earlier than the one Price Hipster takes it's prices from.

          • @tin tin: Price Hipster might not have seen it for a couple of days. I was doing some work on the crawler for several days.

        • It's possible your Bunnings had it's own sale. Price Hipster only knows what's on the website.

Edit: it seems many people say this is the normal price. Sometimes this happens when there are 2 products with exactly the same name at the same store. I can't think of another reason this has ever happened.

  • Is this a great deal? i.e. for someone who hasn't got any of these (not even a hammer drill)

I think I only need a hammer drill, but who knows in the future.

    • +1

i reakon its really worth it, its a good brand with 6 years warranty on tool and 3 years on battery , and being brushless tools makes it that much sweeter

    • +2

They're pretty decent powertools. Will last you a long time if you're just doing jobs around the house. Probably last 2+ years with everyday use on a construction site. Bunnings have great returns anyway if it does break.
Just note it's not a full on hammer drill. It will be able to drill small holes in to brick/concrete, but not bigger sized ones. It's pretty much a drill with a hammer option second.

      • +2

I had my house roof off, AEG tool broke, Bunnings wouldn’t replace it - it had to go for warranty repair. So I had to buy another one to get my roof done.

The warranty is not a simple ‘replace’ one (like Ozito).

        • But standard for any brand/store in my experience

          • @Ulysses31: Yes, but I think some people may think the AEG warranty is a 'walk in and exchange' type, but it's not. I bought the Fusion drill/driver kit for over $600 thinking to get the best one so it wouldn't fry like the basic AEG version had (nearly burst into flames in my hand), but the Fusion one was flaky right away out of the box (it seems ok now though). I really was annoyed having loads of AEG stuff going back to blue/German ones). The orange ones don't seem quite so good.

      • +1

I find with most drills, the hammer function is only good for softer concrete/rocks - or where you need to be gentle, such as a brick you don't want to shatter.

A cheap Ozito-type SDS drill will go through rocks and concrete 5 times as fast, with half the noise. The SDS can be a bit brutal, so if you need a very neat hole, you might be stuck with a standard hammer drill.

        • Yes, SDS is really good for masonry holes. Crapz on normal hammer drill.

    • Friend, its prettt good considering it includes two batteries. Keep in mind it pretty much limits you to aeg stuff, but theyre one of the better brand.

    • You can get a ryobi kit with an extra piece (likely a circular saw) for the same price. If you don't even have a drill yet, I doubt you'd need these.

The Chinese company that owns AEG power tools also owns ryobi. They are made in China now and quality has dropped off from what it was before.

      • +1

The AEG grinder is so much better than the Ryobis.

    • Sounds like you guys do a lot more handiwork than I do.

    • I got given one for my apprenticeship great drill heaps of power, still going 4 year later no issues. Probably overkill for dyi

  • +1

$375 if you have a powerpass card.

    • -2

…you lose your warranty though or it goes down to 6 months or something

    • Showing as 379 in the latest emails on Thursday. They must not like me!

  • +3

For anyone interested, I got this set myself and few other skins. The brushless hammer one is much better than the normal aeg drill.
For the 2 years that I got them, the hammer drill stopped once and I had to wait 4 weeks to get it repaired.
Also, 2 of the battery failed on me which was replaced but had to wait for bunnings to send it to aeg. Take about 4 weeks both times.
All the other tools stilll work great.

    • Do you work in a trade? What's your typical usage?

Sorry without context I can't decide if your comment is actually positive haha

      • +1

        Ah sorry
I only use them for small project around the house. My brother uses them for work though, he's a tradie. I would say quality is much better than Ryobi but not as good as I expect considering they are advertised as trade tools

  • +1

I've had my AEG set for 8 years. Still going strong. Batteries are excellent and it's easy to find a bargain on replacements when their time is up. My first battery only gave up after I used it to screw down a hardwood deck.
I'm not a fan of the hand-held angle grinder. I'd get a multi-tool or a circular saw skin

  • +1

    It's the normal price.
    https://www.aegpowertools.com.au/power-tools/products/detail…

Apparently a new product so I don't know what they changed compared to the previous kit with the same items for the same price.

  • +2

Brushless kits on sale from dewalt, ryobi can often be had for $300-400. Not sure if this is such a great deal. The RRP is crap.

  • +2

Its the normal price. I looked myself, but has always been this price.

    • Can you confirm that using Powerpass voids the warranty? And same goes with your plant 12m warranty?

      • -1

Powerpass classes it as trade use. Bunnings sell items for domestic use only. So technically no, there is no warranty. But, there is something about not actually specifying domestic anywhere so you could argue it and would win. Because it isn't Ozito or Ryobi, it would be subject to being set away for repair.

Usual rules apply, you go in all guns blazing, they're going to say no. You go in polite, the chances are, they will change it for you.

        • Yup. Cool, that's what I got told too. Cheers

        • +1

That is not true. Bunnings sells many things with a trade warranty. It just depends on the brand and the length of the warranty may change depending on domestic or trade use.

Bosch Blue, AEG and DeWalt are targeted specifically at tradies, so they all come with trade warranties.
AEG is owned by Techtronic Industries, which is the same brand a Ryobi. AEG is supposed to be the trade quality side, and Ryobi is supposed to be the domestic quality side.

I tried to find information on warranty cover on AEG's website, but it doesn't specify if their warranty covers trade or domestic. However, their website does state "The Mark of a Trademan" as their slogan and then goes on to talk about how their tools are made specifically for tradies.
On DeWalt's website though, it specifically says their warranty covers "professional users" using them, and that they don't differentiate between professional users and non-professional users, so their tools are covered for trade use.

          • @Antares: Ah yes that makes sense… I was asking about Ryobi so that would be void if using Powerpass, but other brands would be case by case

        • Hey DAN13L

I bought some Ozito power x change tools and used my power pass card before I realised it could cause an issue with warranty, the tools are just used for DIY (not relevant to the business I registered the power pass for) I now have one that has stopped working, is there likely to be an issue if I try to return it? I don't know where the original receipt is but can look the transaction number up on my power pass account though (main reason I originally used it)

          • @tryagain: Should be OK if you ask nicely - which is what he says above. I have heard of ppl even getting replacement with no receipt (because Ozito is their homebrand and they want to maintain customer satisfaction)

            • @kickling: As above, go in nicely and you will be fine. Its not an Homebrand, but we have exclusivity on Ozito as a low priced range.

    • I don't know much about these tools, but why would the 2 piece be the same price ($399)?

      https://www.bunnings.com.au/aeg-18v-5-0ah-2-piece-brushless-…

And the 5 piece is $1499

      https://www.bunnings.com.au/aeg-18v-5-piece-fusion-brushless…

$799 seems in line with that to me.

  • +2

this is the usual price - what's the deal?

  • +3

For this price you can get a 2 piece brushless Bosch blue. IMHO way better quality and if you need it you can add the grinder later. I only have one aeg, a router and it’s a piece of crap

    • +1

      Please link a fair comparison.

I've got both brands. Flip a coin IMO.

So much 'religion' with tool brands.

  • What's the difference between this and sister subsidiary, Milwaukee?
