  • Good… but they don't have any to sell. The product page just has a "Register interest" option, but no "Buy" option.

  • Yeah. Looks weird. It is on ShoppingSquare's newsletter, but when you actually go to the product page it says "coming soon".

  • Anyone who has already bought one of these units can they report on….

    1. its quality in output
    2. value for money
    3. its in built deal generator and when this will reach $99 (after cashback) - its gotta have one of these as - this would be the most cash backed, $$$ off product ever - with the exception of memory sticks!!

ok seriously, reports on points 1 & 2 please

  • I have the clx-2160 (the clp-300's Multi-function big-brother, basically has a scanner attached for photocopying etc..)

Output quality is fantastic, no problems with anything really, black and color both good, you can google for reviews, the one's i've read are pretty much spot on. The color can sometime be a bit spotty, And you wouldn't use it for high quality photos, but it does print photos reasonably well.

The drivers say I've done about 800 pages (790 fuser, 933 transfer belt - thats a lot of blanks!)
The black has used a little over quater, cyan, magenta, yellow all used about 1/10th (i don't do many color photos)

    This printer is available locally in nsw,qld & vic for $196-$210 ( http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=clp-300+pri… )

Samsung are pretty good with their cashback too.

I got the multi-function with i think $200 cash back

edit: the toner cartridges are about $70 a pop on static ice for oem's but can be replaced seperately obviously. I think they can also be refilled but i'll look into that a bit later)

  • wait a minute, i see its $215, not 115.

  • Bandablanda, there's a $100 cashback offer on this printer from Samsung.. hence the claimed $115 price. I agree that it should be promoted here as $215 minus $100 cashback.

As for the performance, as stated previously in another deal on this item, I have the 300N (network version), bought last year during a similar cashback deal.
I don't print much (only about 50 pages a year) so I can't vouch for the reliability of the machine, but it is a decently compact size, with reasonable speed in startup and pages per minute and text quality (mono or c0olour) is excellent as you would expect for a laser. Even colour images are pretty good, although they're not comparable to any $30 inkjet, you don't expect them to be either.. But there isn't any blatant banding or colour merging issues that you might otherwise expect.
The advantages to me and any low-use home user is that the cost per page is minimal, and importantly, the ink doesn't dry out and clog the heads in the 3 months between printing jobs, making the cost per page even better than quoted. I still have the convenience of colour printing at home, without the hassle of cleaning blocked ink heads and paying outrageous prices for ink refills.. the included toner cartridges should last me many years of use..

  • As per usual the cost of these devices isn't in them but their consumables

    http://www.cartridgesdirect.com.au/cart.php?m=product_detail…

$285 for a replacement toner for this printer.

So more than twice the discounted price….

  • they can be got much cheaper for generic brands. shouldnt be a problem in terms of quality, from my experiences

  • from???

  • that is a replacement drum not toner.
the drum is rated for 12,500 pages.
And you obviously buy another printer rather than the drum.

  • I got one of these 2 weeks ago for $220 down at my local computer shop, so that makes it $120 after i get the cashback.

I have sent samsung the cashback form and they have replied via email stating that they have received it…blah blah blah..and the bottom line that i will be getting the 100 bux MONEY ORDER (so just get it from aus post later) in 5-7 weeks or so.

Anyways, in regards to the quality I cannot complain at all! it provides great B/W printing for documents and basic diagrams. B/W pictures also turn out nicely, just not photographic quality.
Colour printing is also great for the money! again it does the job fine for documents and diagrams but if you looking to print photo's and good quality pictures look at getting a ink-jet.

The print speed: Not the best even if its a laser printer. The warm up time is fantastic. I can get a sheet out in less then a minute from when i turn it on. When printing multiple colour pages it takes a while (stats 4pp/m for colour), but not enough to get impatient. B/W print speed is acceptable for a entry level laser printer.

I use it for uni and best thing is the ease of use when printing double-sided lecture notes! (to save paper) Its a manaul feed, which means it prints all of one side out then you just take the entire batch and place it back into the tray and then the other side prints…easy as 1,2,3!

The printer it self comes with black, and 3 seperate colour toners. These are easily put into the printer and can be changed easily and should last for a long time. I donnot plan to buy any replacement toners when mine run out and will just buy a new laser printer, which ever is the cheapest when the time comes.

So, FANTASTIC VALUE printer for office, uni, work related b/w + colour printing.

  • The whole notion of cheap printers and expensive consumables really pisses me off.

Not because of the cost per se but because soo many people buy a printer use it until it runs out of ink/toner and then throw it out and buy a new one.

The amount of electronic goods going to our land fills makes me sick.

If the consumables weren't so expensive people would use their printers until they died of old age, or worse case they could donate them to a worthy cause without feeling guilty for handing them a money sucking device.

I still use a HP Lasejet 4M+ which I picked up for $0 from a dumpster at work, there was nothing wrong with it. The only issues it has is if you use cheap paper it seems to have quite a few paper jams, but this aside it still works great. But even with this the toner replacement is $180 or so from Officeworks, mind you it does last a long time. The printer itself is nuclear bomb proof I swear not like the cheap crap that is sold nowadays.

    • I still use a HP Lasejet 4M+ …

Oh talk about those good ol LaserJets that refuse to die. I've posted about it before. My mate working at HP printer QA department in Singapore said that it is their best interest to make rock solid printers — because they get all the money from the consumable.
