100 Buttermilk Chicken Pops for $9.99 @ Red Rooster (Nationwide)

1121

Anyone feeling peckish? Looks like Red Rooster are feeling cocky and have hatched a plan; 100 Buttermilk Chicken Pops for $9.99 are Red Rooster’s rival to KFC’s 80 pieces of popcorn chicken for $9.95. I reckon this will ruffle a few feathers. Maccas have 25 nuggets for $10, but I reckon they’re fowl.

After chicken all the cometitor’s deals and crunching the numbers (9.95c/pp of chicken), this looks like the best deal going.

Enjoy :)

    100 Buttermilk Chicken Pops!!!
im gonna see if i can stuff them all in my mouth in one shot!

    • What is the relevance of the buttermilk in these?

      • +3

Butter milk is acidic and tenderises the meat while adding flavour.

        • Not so great in your cereal though

Not so great in your cereal though

I haven't had KFC/Red-Rooster for long time. I was actually thinking, are these 100 chicken peices really tiny like flakes of cereal ?? And you put them in bowl and eat few at time with a spoon like cornflakes.
Or is they actually a decent size ? To give an idea to those of us who haven't had them before, maybe how many people would this 100 peices feed.

      • Greg is that you

      • goddamn I hate this youtube world

      • ahaha nice, very informative video, I was interested in what they looked and tasted like and this guy pretty much summed it up. no fomo here (vegeterian since the start of this year :S )

Don't bother with these, they're preformed and taste like crap quite dry and hard.

KFC's are quite soft/moist, 1000x better than these.

    • +7

What if you prefer it dry and hard?

uh oh my heart just stopped
    … …
    oh, there it goes

    • That happened to my neighborino one time :)

    • Quick buy one of these:

In reality, if asystole (stopped heart) was to occur than you would require Epinephrine.

  • It's $9.99.

You should start with Red Rooster so I know not to bother reading the rest of it.

  • +7

Didn't even have to read the comments section for puns. Mind = blown.

I think both rooster and ones from kfc taste exactly same.know why because they are both chicken.

    • +4

      Interesting theory.

    • probably both NOT chicken actually, at least not chicken meat

  • -3

    foul*

      😳🙄

    • I truly hope this is a joke and that you got that it was a pun.

    • +2

      Woosh

These are horrible, they taste like the worst frozen home brand soy protein chicken bits, would rather have the bucket of pop corn chicken anyday.

    • I got still partly frozen nuggets from red rooter. Never again will I chance them.

  • +2

Despite the not-so-great comment reviews of these so far, the deal is doing it's job at convincing me to give them a go anyway this weekend to compare to KFC.

I sent this link to a co-worker who is on a rec day, needless to say he went straight to the drive-thru.

Upon receiving it he asked if he was allowed to sit in the drive thru and count them, the young lady serving him laughed but he started counting and she closed the automatic window and left him! haha

    • +1

      Did he get to 100?

  • +1

    Just got them.

They taste like soggy McBites that you’d buy from the freezer section at Woolworths.

It comes in a large chip box. Not worth the $10. Go buy nuggets from Maccas or something.

On KFC's website, Popcorn Chicken Bucket is 423g, 5846kj. Each chicken pop is 5.3g.
On Red Rooster's website, large Chicken Pops is 290g, 4000kj. Each chicken pop is 2.9g.

    • Also KFC specifies it's chicken breast, you don't know what part of the chicken you're getting from red rooster.

  • -2

Any activists in the house ?

  • …the definition of 'chicken' seems to be pretty loose these days

    • +1

I only eat mechanically separated chicken these days thanks

  • Still give it a go, each red rooster is different. Just like KFC. The one in Ormond is the best KFC, less oil and fatty and still tastes dann good.

I will try in mount waverley soon.

    • i just got back, is actually yummy. a little dry side but at least i felt healthy lol.

  • We should be seeing mc Donald’s doing this soon ;)

  • "Hey, I only got 99 pieces, can I speak to the manager"

From the link it only said large $9.99 where it said 100?

  • +1

I went to order today and asked if i could have the 100 bites, the lady just looked at me like I was retarded. Said they have a 30$ Family Back of Bites. Not sure if its actually 100 bites in the Large box or if there was another box?

  • Tried two different stores and both of them said there is no such thing and looked at me weird lol

  • Got the $6 'regular size' today. Would have been about 30 -35 bites in there max.

I can't see the $9.95 one having close to 100.

They tasted pretty good, but can't really compete with KFCs $10 popcorn bucket or maccas 24 nugs for $10

    • Maccas 24 nuggets for $8 tomorrow (Saturday) via the App.

  • gave this a try and having used OZB for >10 years this is my first major letdown!

it comes in a large chips container.

no way this is as big as a kfc popcorn chicken bucket, major regrets tonight!

nothing to see here despite the upvotes

    • +1

…but now youve eaten 100 'food' things in one sitting. surely that counts for something?

  • +1

ty franco, you are indeed the silver lining. and you're right an achievement indeed. my night is back on track!
