    The closest category I can find is Clothing, Shoes & Accessories. Would this cashback be applicable on all items in this category? Or is it more specific?

    Out of curiosity, how do these cash back companies make money? There whole business model is just giving away money lol. Or does the retailer pay that figure and they earn a commission or something?

      The standard rates make them money but OzBargain promotions such as these are normally at a loss. The maximum standard fixed rate for Amazon affiliates is 12% with some categories paying as low as 2%. See here.

      Basically a retailer signs up with an affiliate network and sets a commission rate. Cashback companies redirect you through an affiliate link and give you back a portion of the sale. As an example, ShopA gives affiliates 6% commission on every sale they've directed to the store, CashbackCo give 4% back to their customer and pocket 2%.

      Yes cashback sites make money on commissions retailers pay for each sale that is generated through the site. Some of that commission is then shared with the customer as cashback.

          No, only when we need to - if you were to lodge a missing cashback claim, we'd send over the info you provide (order invoices you may have attached to the claim for example) to the merchant to verify your transaction.

      • timing difference between receipts of rebates and payment to customers (balance is earning interest)
      • monetising customer data. Either they are selling it now or plan to IPO as a company with uniquely rich customer spend data (which is true). They have richer data than your credit card provider, which only has merchant names, and richer data than amazon, which only has your amazon orders. They have a complete detailed picture.
      • certain promos they may fund more of, e.g. $1 per Ola ride / day might be an effort to capture strategically 'important' transaction data

    Negging the deal, as my cashback was never registered when Shopback had 10% cashback promotion.

    I followed the instructions, used Desktop website, My last click was from ShopBack website, didn’t have any other website open.

    Says 20% cashback but when I forked out $200 on an item they applied only $11 cashback. Has anyone else had this issue?
