I'd rather pay $55 from eBay or Amazon as per wisc's comment here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/6506276/redir

eBay have P5OFF for 5% off and 1% Cashrewards and Amazon has 10% Cashrewards. Both items cheaper shipped and delivered from Australia too. Not sure where yours ships from because your Shipping and Returns page is empty and your Location & Working Hours page gives nothing useful.

  • I just don't get the purpose of these - who has powerpoints sitting up in their ceiling. Is that a common thing?

    • +1

just built a new house - all the led downlights just have plugs to plug them into - that way when the lights die, they can be replaced (if they were hardwired in, a sparky would be required.

I however, dont understand the whole "smart light" idea.
once the light is turned off at the switch, it is no longer smart, as it has no power going to it.
we really need smart switches as a more common thing to control our lights.

      • we can voice control it by Alexa/Google home, or with mobile phone

      • check out fibaro
        still pricey though

      • Me too. I also had the sparky install plugs for each downlight. I ain't paying for a sparky visit each time one dies.

I also agree with your smart sentiments.

    • It's standard with LED downlights to install a plug base in the ceiling to plug them into.

      • Ah, right. I haven't had downlights installed since LEDs became popular. That explains my unfamiliarity with the concept.

  • Me and my neighbor got these lights from this seller. Pretty happy with them thus far. Work pretty well with hue bridge

    • Looks like a rebranded Sonoff switch. Entire Sonoff range here: https://www.itead.cc/smart-home.html

Perfect for tinkerers. Works out of the box with Alexa, Google Home, Nest. Flash Tasmota MQTT on them and you now have integration with Home Assistant, OpenHAB, Domoticz, etc.

Works great but with the usual caveats - not AS certified. Unsure of your expertise level but this is a good place to start: https://youtu.be/_389pQPLyr8

      • Good link, thanks!!!
