  • Asus controller is $19 on its own. Wonder if it's any good.

    • +1

      It works ok.

Only annoying thing is that the Select and Start buttons are the back and home buttons for android respectively.

This means playing games like GTA:SA I can't open the map as when I press the button it tells me to, it just goes back to the android home screen.

Otherwise it's been fine so far.

There may be ways around what I described but it's not a big deal cause I know the map quite well. Other games may prove difficult.

      • Would it work on the Mi Box or not really fast enough to bother?

        • Haven't tried games on the Mi Box. Just use it for the usual Plex/YT.

A quick google showed GTA SA running on the box. So yes - just pair the controller with the box, sideload the game and you're good to go.

You can get cheaper bluetooth controllers elseware but the ASUS one is pretty good. The triggers are highly sensitive tho. I'll be driving along and all of the sudden looking sideways because i barely touched it.

          • @SnowDragon: Thanks. Just thinking of one for the kid's mibox to play games that cant use the remote

  • If I have HTPC setup on my TV I can stream PC games across and I don't need this, right?

    • Correct, Steam to Steam

  • I have the Shield TV and the ASUS controller, in my experience the controller is pretty much unusable? Im not totally sure if its the Bluetooth Connection or is it due to my internet connection being third world standard…. Would be great to know others who have this set up and how it operates for them…

    • Support PS4/Xbox controller?

      • Using the Xbox One S wireless controller which is the recommended bluetooth controller which works well when streaming PC games. PS4 controller works I believe, but not native support for PC games.

Had problems with the Shield Controller, the sticks tends to drift up. I RMA'd the first controller, got a refurbished one which is experiencing the same problem. I'm just going to get a second Xbox controller.

Can you try moving closer to the Shield TV and testing? I found the bluetooth range from my earphones and or controller doesn't seem to be more than 5 metres. I think the Shield's bluetooth range is quite limited.

    • Xbox one V2 controller works well, I used a 3rd party one at one stage but just can't beat the quality of the Xbox one controllers. Need the version 2 one though as they fixed the trigger buttons on the V2.

  • Does anyone know where I can buy just the remote control from?
