  • What price range are the qualifying controllers? How much did you spend on yours?

    • Good question. Can’t find one price.

      • You can just call the places listed, I spoke to one of them a month or so ago about the Orbit B-Hyve and they were a similar price to online.
        definitely a saving

        • Do you know which store you called? And did you buy it? Thoughts on the Orbit B-Hyve?

      • Just bought one from Watershed (they have quite a few stores in WA). $250.00

They've probably inflated the price to match the rebate - but oh well.

        • +1

Agreed, Bunnings sells it for $199

    • I spent $250 on mine, I got a waterme and installed it myself.
It's not a bad product, but definitely needs some work on the app and the web interface

  • Bunnings not in the qualified store?

  • Its not clear to me with the "up to" value … how is this calculated? is it 100% of the price up to $250? or some other ratio or tier system?

    • +1

if it costs $350, you get $250
If it costs $200, you get $200

  • i asked about it last year. For the rebate, they have to come and install it too which they charge a pretty penny for (and takes out the saving if you can DIY)

    • It makes no mention of them having to install?

      • I read through it this year, and it seem like it.
Might pick one up this year in that case.

  • Save searching for each one, what's the cheapest option?

  • Last time i looking into the rebate it was on $700+ smart controllers. Only one i know in AUS is the Hunter Pro ones.

(Not sure about the site address for an AU store)
    Rebate options:
$250 rebate for supply-only; or Why not have one of experts install and program your controller, valued at $200 for an extra $100 rebate ($350 rebate for supply and irrigation consultation home visit/ controller programming1. )
*Only available to Water Corporation Metro customers, Application for rebate must be made online. proof of purchase will be required during the application process. 1Please note, the additional $100 cannot be claimed on an electrician visit. (This relates to installation.

I have been running a Rachio Smart Controller which i got from the US for about 4 years now and its great for about $300 (Note you will need an AC 240V-24v power supply NOT A DC ONE the Valves require AC to turn off

    • Installation cost $200 before rebate?

      • +1

Seems expensive for connecting 7 cables 4 screws and plugging it into a powerpoint.

    • The rachio3 was my number one pick, but I also read that the wifi freq is illegal in Australia, plus I didn't want to deal with overseas vendors if it died.
Could not find a single Aussie seller for it

      • Nah no Aussie sellers for it and cant buy it direct from Rachio. Need a 3rd party seller or freight forwarder. Im not sure how the wifi is illegal as it just connects into a standard 2.4g wifi modem/router.

Im running Version 2 and has been great with a airport weather station connection 10kms away.

V3 has water flow meter which look awesome but not worth the update at this stage for me and 5G wifi Support.

Ide consider V3 and flow meter if could find a few people to combine shipping

          • @giftcardinspector: Okay the controller is connecting through WIFI at 2.4 and 5G which isnt the illegal part. The 1 feature ie wireless flowmeter is using RF technology on the 900mhz band which is a licensed band and where the issue would come in. (Just use a wired flow meter apose to wireless)

That poster is clearly very upset and really trying to hurt their sales in hope to get something for free, Rachio do not sell to Australia so why do they need to consider standards outside their core market? No difference to 110v and 240v devices.

(Yes it would have been nice to consider worldwide standards but isnt their responsibility) Considering WW standards would have helped additional sales to smaller markets for potential new market shares.

My guess is that on the next batch or version they will change to the 433mhz band

        • The waterme I bought comes with a flow meter, installing that next weekend so will see how it goes.

  • They are so simple to install if you already have an irrigation controller.

  • 4 weeks to get the rebate. How do we know if we will get it? The store person said I will be fine as I mentioned only 500 applicant will be eligible. Wonder if we can refund it if rebate is rejected.

    • Hard to say for sure - are you planning on leaving it unopened for that long?

My gut feeling is that for at least the first week you will be fine and within the first 500.

It wouldn't be too hard for the water corp to turn the website to "off" once they receive 500 applications, but that would be too logical?!

      • Finger cross.

  • Installed my B-Hyve today, set up the smart watering, will be interesting to see how it adjusts based on the weather etc.

It has already determined I won't need to water for the next 10 days based on the weather forecast and type of plants I have. I'd agree with it, hasn't been warm at all and sporadic rain.

Installation and set up was a breeze.

    Very happy for the price!

  • Water Corp advised me that as long as we can still see the form, we are eligible and still in 500 applicants. I am amazed that until now 500 applicants is still not reached.

  • +1

Picked up a B-Hyve, Water Corp form still working.

  • Anyone received the cashback yet?

    • Not yet

  • Just got an email from Water Corp:

    Dear customer,

We approved your claim late last week and it is now with our payments teams for processing.

Processing of all claims has been a delayed due to the popularity of the offer.

    We appreciate your patience.

No response required to this email

    • Mine was slightly different -

      "Dear customer,

As advised on our website and in the confirmation email you received, processing of claims was planned to take up to 4 weeks, but there have been a delays due to the popularity of the offer.

All claims submitted are being verified and will be processed in the order they were received. You will receive another notification when your claim is approved.

      We appreciate your patience.

No response required to this email"

      • That means your one will be processed next after mine as mine says "Claim Approved" in the email subject.

    • Yup got the same email

  • Anyone got the money yet ? Why they took so long to just transfer the payment ???

  • Yeah got the money yesterday

  • Damn missed this , nice deal
