I don't see anything cheaper there :P
Neither do i… strange he must have magic eyes :)
this is the cheapest, but only by a few dollars.
Same arguments from this thread a week or so ago are still valid though-
Surprisingly cheap from ARC
For those in QLD you can get it for $369: http://www.computeralliance.com.au/parts.aspx?qryPart=12410
meh, buy a 6950 and bios mod it… $299. Make sure its 2GB
ps. This ozbargain deal is pretty good also.Void warranty?
I don't see why everyone keeps mentioning this?
Some of them fail and have to be reflashed back.
I'm personally not stingy enough that if I get a 6950, and it fails, that I'll just live with poor gaming speeds of a 6950 because of it.
If you were going to get a 6950 anyway, then there is no loss, but this is for a 6970
I would rather spend the extra and be sure of the performance I am getting.
Because it's a gamble thats worth it. If you paid $299 for a 6950 and manage to unlock it's performance to match a higher end card that's worth more.. you gain.
If the mod fails… you don't lose anything.
Some people have bricked there cards! artifacting that won't ever go away even after flashing back to stock! once the damage has been done to the ram its over red rover! .. odly enough its the memory chips that fail on these 6950 unlocks over anything else. can also take a few weeks to happen.
I don't think you understand my post.
Lets say you want a 6970 so you can play a game vsynced at 60fps. You buy a 6950, flash to 6970, it doesn't work so you flash back.
So what you are left with is a card that can only do the game at 50fps and you can't use vsync and you are unhappy.
So you can sell the 6950 and lose money, or be unhappy.
As I mentioned, if you are buying a 6950 anyway, then why not? Otherwise its not a good idea.
I agree, I want a 6970 that I can rely on as a 6970. Not a 6950 that may perform just as well but also may eventually have issues.
The 6950 mod is more relevent in a 6950 bargain thread.
just bought one from them. very very happy :D
pccasegear had it lowest @ 369 vic
arc computers @ 362.56 nsw
guys dont go for 6950 2gb if you thinking to flash it to 6970.
what is the difference between the one with and without Vapor-X ?
thanksThe plain jane one is with stock OEM cooling. vapor-X is Sapphire's aftermarket cooler.
the aftermarket coolers do a better job most of the time.. thats why they change to them.
and often quieter.
I've been waiting for a 6970 with a non reference cooler for a while.
slightly cheaper elsewhere: http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=hd6970&spos…
