eBay will be getting to a stage where they will need to offer 10% off almost all the time as people will just hold off buying anything until there is a deal. Thanks TA

      Lenny: It's a secret.
      Carl: Sshhh Shut up!

      • +4

Me: Hey … why do you guys always get targeted in these and I don't?
        Lenny: It's a secret.
        Carl: Sshhh Shut up!

    • +1

Or every seller big and small would jack up their prices knowing there would be a 10% off sale at any given time.

  • +32

Only a shitty 10% off??!! Where's my friggin' 40% off site-wide code with 15% cashback, TA??!! Why isn't eBay paying me to have items posted to my door?!?! This is selfish, profiteering behaviour by eBay, a massive slap-in-the-face to it's loyal customers - I'm entitled to so much more than this and now I will rage on the interwebs to make known known my disgust!!

    Thanks, TA 😊

    • +2

u need to spend less in order to become targeted these days 😁

    • +3

That's right loyal customer. Consume without question. Be thankful when we throw you scraps. We are doing YOU a favour by selling products to you.

  • -5

Doesn't work for me. I am never targeted :(
Need to wait for 10% sitewide now.

    • +15

      Is it 10am yet?

    • Read the post properly

    • +1

You need to wait until 10am to know for sure.

    • Maybe is bcos you buy very often on eBay. Targeted is for ppl don’t buy that often. Like you, I never get one.

      • +1

Targeted is for ppl don’t buy that often. Like you, I never get one.

Or for people that don't have the relevant marketing tick-box selected in their eBay account settings.

        • True! Mine are all selected but I don’t get selected! :)

@yabol The difference between Targeted and Sitewide is the minimum spend.

        • +1

Where is this magic button located?

          • +4

@Yummy: My eBay -> Account -> Communication Preferences -> Promotions and Surveys -> General email promotions -> Tick this box!

            • +1

@dm01: Thank you my good man.

It seems everything are ticked on. And yet I rarely get those "targeted offers". Seems ebay don't want my money or they hates me immensely.

              • +2

@Yummy: eBay must have bad taste if they hate Yummy.

              • +7

@Yummy: Just enquired via chat: They hate you immensely. Sorry.

            • @dm01: @dm01 Do you know how to check if you've been targeted? I see offers on Ozbargain all the time but I don't know where to look in my account.

              • @TrainedMonkey: Don't know if you can in the app, but would appear at top of the My Summary page on website.

              • @TrainedMonkey: As systemworks says above, check the top of your summary page in eBay. Note though, sometimes codes won't show up there until you actually use them, so what I always do when I new code is posted here on OzB is add a 'buy-it-now' item to the eBay shopping, click through to the 'payment' page, and apply the code to see if it's valid for me account.

      • Then you need to get in the game and open another 300 accounts

    • You couldnt read the post properly…. that explains why you cannot see the 10% sitewide sales!

  • +2

Was it the last targeted 10% off offer that got 100’s of up votes, but nobody on Ozbargain actually confirmed being able to use the code?

  • +2

It would be a pretty safe bet that anyone who bought a 10% off eBay giftcard won't get targeted for this one… which is why we all have multiple accounts! :P

Wonder if anyone at eBay is clever enough to use such an opportunity to systematically associate accounts to one another to influence (or restrict) future targeted offers.

    • +7

eBay market my own listings to me…cleverness is not a quality I associate with them.

  • +5

So many grown adults (I'm assuming) on this thread throwing tantys like spoilt children. Definitely a trend on these ebay sale posts.
On the phony 20% off certain store sales, I get it. Just don't buy unless you're happy with ~5% off. But on these sitewide deals, it just comes off as entitled.

    • +4

I do agree with you, the problem with these targeted offers is that get blindly up voted 100's of times before the code is active, and then everyone that up voted finds out that they weren't targeted. The last targeted 10% off offer was an a solute joke, I don't think anybody on OzBargain could actually use the code. Didn't stop it from getting 100's of up votes.

      • +1

Have to agree with @aja12 - are there really that many people being targeted? Why vote for it if you can’t use it? I’m tempted to downvote because of the restriction - But I won’t because maybe someone got a discount.

I don’t think I have ever got one of those targeted codes.

  • How do you know about these deals TA beforehand?

    • He works for the CIA.. shhhhhhhh

    • How do you know about these deals TA beforehand?

It takes a lot of bending over.

      • Name should change from TA to LA

        • Lovely @rse?

  • -1

Seems like everything is still price jacked from the last 10% off sale.

  • I'm getting "looks like that's the wrong code" error message :(

    It's 10AM right?

    • You're not targeted.

      • Yes, that's what I figured.. well that's $730 I'm not spending today..

    • you arent targeted

  • +3

Not working on any of my 3 accounts. Interested to know how many people can actually use the code.

    • Tried 6! Nil

  • +1

    Sadface, mine only showing PENNY5

  • +2

Where exactly do you check it on the ebay app?

    • +2

Don't know if you can in the app, but would appear at top of the My Summary page on website

  • +1

i don't have it…. how can people always have targeted email?

  • +2

I got targeted, in a 2 year old unused account. Win!

    • +1

Now you can blindly defend any suggestion that very few people have access to the code. Win!

    • So far you are the only person in Australia confirmed as targetted.

  • Code not working, assuming I was not targetted.

Why am I paying for eBay plus? Thanks for nothing eBay.

  • Yeah I didnt get this code Boo!

  • +5

I logged into an old account I haven't used (or logged into) for at least 5 years and it was targeted.

    • +3

Ye, seems they're targeting old/unused accounts with this one. Thanks for sharing.

      • I got it with a recently opened account that had no transactions.

        • +1

Well there you go. It gets more mysterious by the minute. Thanks for the update.

  • Why does ebay always ignore me in their targets. Like literally I have never been targeted for anything…. I have an old account.

    • eBay don't want any contact with raybies? Can't imagine why…

  • +2

Logged into my wife's account and she was targeted - so I think that makes 3 confirmed accounts (based on comments on this page).

She has bought a few things this year (maybe 3 to 6 items, generally under $20 in value) so not a big spender.

I just bought 2 items totalling $730 after the 10% discount, using her account.

The only thing I forgot was to link Flybuys to her account first :/
    I remembered CashRewards.

  • +1

i've got all the boxes ticked yet have never, ever, been targeted for a promo deal, ah well

  • +1

I got the email this arvo, thanks TA :)

Funnily enough, it didn't say a coupon, it just mentioned 10% off Sitewide.

  • +1

Got an old account got the code under myaccount and it's unique code AUNCUxxxxxxxxx

  • +1

I have the code. My last purchase was November last year.
Also have a $10 off code. Hopefully they work together.

  • +8

1% of users targeted, 99% of users triggered.

  • +4

Winner… well using wife's rarely used account.. 107 bucks off a new washing machine. Thanks ebay…

  • No code:(( just bought a phone $650!

  • Another targeted offer that I haven't received

  • I have been targeted, can you add other codes in conjunction to your purchases (for example the 20% off for second purchase). Also, may someone please explain how flybuys and cashrewards work?

    • Flybuys - log into your eBay account and look for the option to link your Flybuys card, and then add its details

CashRewards - sign up / log into CashRewards.com.au
Then once logged in, search for eBay (or whatever store) and use their link to "click through" to eBay.
You must always visit the CR website first, and then click through using their special links to the store you want to buy from, for Cashbacks to track.

  • +1

I just got my code appear today! So maybe worth logging on and checking again?
Was hunting for 10% for the past 2 weeks and was gloomy that I hadn't received this offer. Was almost going to buy without the 10% off - glad I waited!
