Yeah there were cheaper routes but none were direct mel-sf and I justified it to myself by saying it's a 787, but apart from better electronics in the seat and a foot rest not really any difference, the flight itself was very smooth though 13.5hrs
Do Qantas do the snack bar at the back of the plane on the 787?
I find they're better for jetlag with the higher humidity and cabin pressure, but not worth paying more for on its own. Depending on the carrier there's a tradeoff in seats too; I recently flew Air Canada's 787 BNE-YVR and the seats are narrower with thinner backs than the 777 seats. The direct flight and better cabin air more than made up for the seats though. United's 787 SFO-SYD had better seats.

Is anyone else still getting good deals showing through this ?
I tries this afternoon, with price match through flight centre (I have $100 voucher with them) .
I found a fare sydney to LAX return for $850, then could not be honoured as price match because when you actualluly click through to 'book' flight, it ends up saying not available :/ . I though it was because I was trying to book so early (next week) but then tried similarly in May 2019, tried to click through to actually book the cheap fair, and error shows. Cannot actually booked at the price shown on iwantthatflight.
Maybe there is something I am missing or doing wrong ? I have never booked international flights before.
Have you tried changing destination to San Fran ?
Couldn't find anything near $848 on Qantas for any of those dates, looks like all sold out ?
