Another one of these non Aussie sitewide ebay deals.

Remember to navigate to Account > Personal Information > Registered name, address and phone number to access and setup the region if using an existing account
https://settings3.ebay.com.au/editRegistration

Given the frequency of these it's probably more prudent to have dedicated alternate US and UK accounts setup at this point however.
Also keep in mind that those discount ebay vouchers from the other day are only valid on ebay australia and won't be usable on ebay.com as far as I know, possibly making this deal of limited value to some.

For clarity as to how you can take advantage of this deal since some are asking or confused;

  • Find an item you want on ebay.com.au
  • remove .au from URL, add to cart, checkout, apply code, pay with paypal in AUD.
  • You have effectively applied a 15% discount against ebay.com.au

(Thanks battler)

Some terms and conditions

  • Eligible items exclude warranties and protection plans, as well as items from the Coins & Paper Money, Gift Cards & Coupons, and Real Estate categories.
  • Minimum Spend 25USD (~35AUD) and eligible to a maximum discount of $100USD (~137AUD)
  • Code must be used within a single transaction (and can include multiple eligible items), Max one redemption per user.

Do you know if on the US site you can use gift cards?

        • +3

I wonder if I could use the paypal ebay gift cards on the ebay US website?

          • +1

@CocaKoala: Unfortunately no as stated in the original post details above.

          • +5

@CocaKoala: I'd PM the OP and ask them.

            • @Scab: Don't give them ideas

            • @Scab: Thanks for the advice. I'll PM the OP, the mods and also you Scab every 5mins asking the same question just in case the conditions have changed and we can now use gift cards.

              • @subywagon: Thanks for doing that. Now do you know if we could use gift cards on ebay US website?

        • do you know if US can make gift cards?

  • +13

    Capped at US $100.

    • This needs to be in the title

    • So it's still 15% off as long as the item(s) are worth less than US$667 or ~AU$920 ?

    • +2

Check out Global Rakuten. Ebates currently has 15% off next day cashback (not 60 days like CR and Shopback). They might have your item with a higher threshold.

  • Do you need to set your primary address to a US address?

But also set up a secondary address (your real AU address) for sellers to ship to ?

    • Safest to set it up with a US address, then add a new address on checkout to ship to. In my case it did not allow me to checkout with the US address and allowed me to create a new AU address to ship to as part of the payment process.

  • Am going Michigan next week

    • +7

      cool

    • +2

      I'm not

    • +2

      Trump won't let you in.

    • +1

      Keep us posted.

    • +3

Don't go full Michigan. Very hard to walk after that.

    • Pack for the COLD.

    • +3

Gerry, are you suggesting we shouldn't shop overseas?

    • +1

      It's not just for USB's. It's sitewide!

  • -7

    Minus 10% GST = 5% off sitewide

    • +9

No GST if u buy from Aussie sellers.

    • -1

Less than 5% as there's GST on shipping.

      • +4

        theres always one lol

  • Will our ebay accounts get banned if we continuously change our location to US to take advantage of these offers?

I've done it twice before, so not sure if it will get banned the third time

    • +5

Yeah I dunno, just another reason I prefer to keep extra accounts on hand rather than screwing around with the regional settings every time.

    • -2

No, why would eBay want to ban a customer.

The only time they ban buyers is for scamming.

      • +6

        ….. And even then

    • +4

*Having a US IP will probably make this more successful

Make a new account on ebay.com (ie. not .com.au ) using your existing details, payment and phone except use a real US address - I think a hotel is a good choice.

Then add your Australian address as a "shipping address" (leaving US address as primary).

Congratulations, you went to the USA for a short holiday.

Then find what you want to buy on ebay.com.au (without being logged in or use another browser) and paste that into the ebay.com windows while logged into ebay US.

    • ebay AU sucks, less good deal, push for plus…

They ask for it. new US a/c FTW

    • Band for using a feature THEY provide… I think not.

  • So I cannot seem to get to the page to change address…. it just keeps asking me to login.
    Anyone else seeing the same?
    https://settings3.ebay.com.au/editRegistration

  • Any idea if you can use this code on items you have already won before this code is active, but haven't paid for yet?

    • +1

      Yes u can

      • Was just about to ask the same question.
I'll save the gift cards for later.

  • +3

For anyone with a seperate US account (to get around having to change regional settings all the time) - Do you have the same PayPal account linked that you use for ebay AU?

    • +1

yes the same paypal account but if you use more than 1 transaction, paypal might block your account which you can call them to unblock it

    • +1

Just to be sure, I have two separate ebay and Paypal accounts.

      • Do you have separate cards linked to each paypal? I tried to have 2 paypals a while back and it groaned about sharing the same credit card across accounts.

        • +3

Yes. Each ebay account has a different email address and different CC linked. Occassionally, I use the US ebay account to make small purchases to make it look legit, garner feedback and avoid any fraud or ban notices. Gotta play the ebay game, but it's not worth getting on the ebay carousel and hopping between locations - to me that's fraught with danger.

  • those discount ebay vouchers from the other day are only valid on ebay australia

    stop reading after that

    • Yeah hard to spend another unjustified bucket of cash when I have $1000 worth of unused gift cards sitting there ;_;

      • What, u didn't buy the hairdryer?

  • Can buy more gift cards at 15% off?

    • +1

*Eligible items exclude warranties and protection plans, as well as items from the Coins & Paper Money, Gift Cards & Coupons, and Real Estate categories.

  • Can someone understand the purpose of this? Do you use it when you want to buy goods from USA or is this a way to get a better discount buying on the US ebay site from Australian sellers?
    Thanks.

    • +7

find item you want on ebay.com.au
remove .au from URL, add to cart, checkout, apply code, pay with paypal in AUD.
you have effectively applied a 15% discount against ebay.com.au

      • ok, thanks.

      • Do you still have to edit the location with this approach?

        • +1

          yes

  • I know they gonna do something there in the US when we finished our sales here down under, glad waited

  • Time to be a Yankee for a day, the things we do for a bargain :)

  • +2

Better for us to use 10% off sitewide when available and our 10% off gift cards. Why don't ebay Aus get the hint and do a 15% sitewide.

    • +2

Why don't ebay Aus get the hint and do a 15% sitewide

You think it's that easy, it takes time to jack?

      • About 5 mins including cleanup and a leak afterwards

  • Shame, only max $100 discount. Was going to use this to get an iPhone XS.

  • +1

Right time to look for things to buy. Excellent!

    • That's the OzBargain spirit!

  • did you guys get a 'eBay Registration Country Change to United States' email as the previous post (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/395635) was saying? I changed the country to US but didnt get an email

  • I already have a few UK and US ebay accounts ready to roll.

  • -3

    pp giftcard 10% + 15% =25% discount

AUD $1 = USD $0.73 quite near parity with the discount.

    Awesomeness

    • +1

Not that I have firsthand experience in trying it, but I don't think those PP giftcards would work on ebay.com, they state that they are only usable on ebay.com.au

      • bummer but its ok I will save the gift cards for ebay au near future 20% off sale.

    • +1

That's not how maths works tho 🤔🤔🤔

  • Good one, but unfortunately i need to buy something and pick up today lol. Ah well.

    Thanks OP!

  • Max $100 :(

    • Agreed. It's a bit weak considering we get $300 in Aus

  • -2

Anyone know if it's possible to use the eBay AU gift cards to purchase eBay US or PayPal gift cards etc, so we can double dip on this? I've looked around and it doesn't seem possible.

    • Nope. That was the first comment and in the description.

  • Cant buy gold, meh

  • Anyone know where I can buy the Pocohone F1 for a good price with this deal?

  • +1

Can these be used for accepted offers from "Make an Offer" listings?

  • Can't log in to change address.

  • +1

nice post but the only downside is that I cannot not choose pick-up in-store. The item has to be delivered unless free shipping. :-(

  • The code is now live.

  • When buying AU eBay giftcard, it said: This code can't be applied to your order.

    • Eligible items exclude warranties and protection plans, as well as items from the Coins & Paper Money, Gift Cards & Coupons, and Real Estate categories

      • Didn't you buy some 15% off eBay giftcards previously?
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/397536

        • Nope. But I did post an eBay.com deal like this a month ago. The GC clause wasn't in the UK deal, that was the beauty of it. The first thing I checked was the terms for GCs.

  • anyoner got this? "We ran into a problem. Please try again later."

    • Yes

    • +1

Yes. All the time. Also on ebay .au. Something to do with their GST collection system being broken, doesn't like the item you are buying and just fails. And they aren't interested in fixing it and are happy to lose yet another cart full of purchases! (I'm on a dedicated US registered account that has worked correctly in the past, prior to this financial year.)

  • Also got the "We ran into a problem. Please try again later." message despite moving to the US. Also never got the moving to the US email. I'll try again at 3AM.

  • "We ran into a problem. Please try again later." please tell me how to fix this.

  • any ebay.com.au account can change the address and use the code?

  • If this code works for anyone, please say if your eBay account was:

    1) Registered on eBay OZ then moved to US
    2) Registered on eBay US
    3) Are you using a VPN
