15% off Sitewide ($25 USD Minimum Spend / $100 USD Max Discount) @ eBay USA

2461
PICKSOON
This post contains affiliate links. OzBargain might earn commissions when you click through and make purchases. Please see this page for more information.

Another one of these non Aussie sitewide ebay deals.

Remember to navigate to Account > Personal Information > Registered name, address and phone number to access and setup the region if using an existing account
https://settings3.ebay.com.au/editRegistration

Given the frequency of these it's probably more prudent to have dedicated alternate US and UK accounts setup at this point however.
Also keep in mind that those discount ebay vouchers from the other day are only valid on ebay australia and won't be usable on ebay.com as far as I know, possibly making this deal of limited value to some.

For clarity as to how you can take advantage of this deal since some are asking or confused;

  • Find an item you want on ebay.com.au
  • remove .au from URL, add to cart, checkout, apply code, pay with paypal in AUD.
  • You have effectively applied a 15% discount against ebay.com.au

(Thanks battler)

Some terms and conditions

  • Eligible items exclude warranties and protection plans, as well as items from the Coins & Paper Money, Gift Cards & Coupons, and Real Estate categories.
  • Minimum Spend 25USD (~35AUD) and eligible to a maximum discount of $100USD (~137AUD)
  • Code must be used within a single transaction (and can include multiple eligible items), Max one redemption per user.

It didn't work with the eBay AU Account changes but worked for me with the following conditions.
    - Registered on eBay US
    - Opened the eBay us site in incognito mode

    Thanks.

    • Did the same, just put a . in my email address to get around the "already registered" error as Gmail ignores any periods in email addresses

    • Guess the address trick doesn't work anymore. Now we know.

    • might I ask if you use your US PayPal account as well? since I tried to follow your steps but it seem doesn't work for me

      • I didnt link the US account with Paypal and paid with credit card payment option which is still linked with Paypal AU.

    • I tried this trick but now I seem to have been flagged for being sus. I have technically bought the item I wanted in my new US account as it is sitting in my My Ebay page but I cannot proceed to payment without error. I previously made it to the PayPal screen but that is when it turned bad.

      • it only works with some items some don't, but for buying the gift card it's def not working, I got some items successful to add the code then pay but then got into another mess after the payment process which people described below, it's just too much hassle

  • I feel dumb, but I can't get it working.

  • Im using a freshly created eBay US account, in a browser with cleared cache, and using US VPN.
Logged in, added item to cart, added promo code successfully (saving $100), entered my (AU) PayPal details to pay.

Then got an error that my PayPal is not verified. The item shows up in my Purchase History as bought, but "Your payment is pending", and yet it also shows as still being in my shopping cart.

If I try go to my shopping cart, its there, and if I click Go the Checkout, I get error "Sorry, we can't complete your checkout at this time. Please try changing your item quantity or check your account status."

Strangely I have not received any emails from eBay to say I have made a purchase.

My eBay account summary says I have 1 unpaid item, but if I click it, it takes me to the Unpaid Items tab that says I have no Unpaid items… WTF

    • Ahhh this guy got the same error as me. You and I are forked :S

      • On top of that, the item I wanted to buy went up $100 between yesterday and today (Oz seller) however I had a backup option of the older model that was $20 (now $120) cheaper, so was trying to buy that.

    • I got the same error as well!! why they have to make our life so difficult

      • +1

Because we are trying to get a discount that we are not entitled to.
If it works, great! If it doesn't - oh well!

        • I can understand the frustration. I can't even apply discounts that I am entitled to. ebay aren't interested in fixing the problem or issuing a credit voucher for the lost discount, so I'll try to get it out of them any way I can.

          • @endotherm:

I can't even apply discounts that I am entitled to.

In the past when codes didn't work for discounts that are meant to work for me (i.e. ebay.com.au codes), I would contact ebay support and they've told me to just buy the item and tell them the item number, and they'll send me the discount amount via PayPal.

They're still doing it too; e.g. here.

What did they say when you contacted them? Which code was it?

            • @eug: Pretty much any discount code since July. Unless I buy a single item, it fails if I put multiple items or sellers in my cart. I ring up every time and speak to one of their "customer support" personnel at a cost of 45 - 60 minutes out of my life each time. Most of the call is me educating them about their own product, and shooting down any "explanations" they make up (e.g. they tell me it is impossible to put more than a total quantity of 10 pieces of something in the cart. How could I buy a dozen eggs or a pack of 50 screw then???) Only once did they offer me the value of the code that I missed out on, but I had to wear them down. The last time I did the online chat thing so I could get a paper trail of the conversation, and I didn't beat around the bush, I just demanded the value of the coupon in a voucher. Was told that they would escalate it to management and have a response in 12-24 hours… that was 3 days ago. I used to use ebay every 2-3 days, now I'm lucky to make a purchase 2-3 times a month. My "problem" is that I buy many small value items, not a single expensive item. I have to cram my cart with RCA cables and USB adaptors etc just to come close to their $75 minimum purchase qualifying condition. I have to have 10 items to make up that amount, but the best I can get is 6 items before it breaks. All this before I even try to add any discount codes, and all the wasted time removing and changing single items trying to work out what is breaking the cart and generating the unhelpful "an error occurred" message.

              • @endotherm: Hmm strange, not sure why it's so much harder for you. The cart almost never breaks for me, and I've definitely filled up the cart before.

Maybe it's easier to just start a new eBay account and see if that fixes it? There's no unusual software running on your computer either?

I always use the online chat btw, no point being stuck on a phone when I can just have the chat running in the background while I do other things.

                • @eug: I'm not the only one who has the cart break on them. Plenty of others on here have reported the same thing. It's weird, apply any 3 or 4 random Chinese sellers charging in AUD, select the same items. Sometimes that combination works, sometimes it doesn't. There is nothing much differentiating the sellers apart from their name. eBay can't/won't say why it breaks so I can work around it and not waste my time. I can't figure out the offending action either, so I just end up missing out on the saving, which as an OzBargainer hurts worse than not being offered it in the first place.

I've used two other ebay accounts, tried checking out on a couple of netbooks running minimal software (pretty much just the OS) and using various browsers. I typically use Internet Explorer with no addons to check out, as it is the plainest/most standard browser I can use so I don't trip up on adblockers etc messing things up with Cash Rewards.

I opened New US account. I then added a USA address as primary and a Australian address as secondary. I used my AU phone number for both. I linked my current PayPal to this account. I added item to cart to ship to AU address. Appplied code. Payed via PayPal. No dramas.

    • I did this. US primary address (my Shipito address) and my real AU address as secondary.

I did not link my Paypal account before purchase, I just entered my Paypal details on the Checkout page.

Tried linking in eBay account settings later, and I got an error about Paypal verification. Verified Paypal, but it still wont link eBay and Paypal together, just goes around in circles.

  • Still getting "We ran into a problem. Please try again later." error

I only changed my address and region to america

    • For those that get "We ran into a problem. Please try again later." create a new EBAY US account. I had to do this and worked fine.

  • +2

So so far we have 2? confirmed successful purchases ?
    But plenty of problems…

I gave up - might try live chat later and see if they can help (nothing to lose)

  • I got msg that I cannot use the code. I have changed region to USA, but left primary address Australia. Noticed that eBay price jacked up the $10US above amazon site. However Amazon post fee $50US and eBay $27. All BS.

  • anyone managed to work it out? seems cant pass checkout with "We ran into a problem, please try again later"

    • For those that get "We ran into a problem. Please try again later." create a new EBAY US account. I had to do this and worked fine.

  • So my US account that I've used for the last several US deals was getting the same "Please try again later" message, I went and set up an entirely new Gmail Account and Ebay account all while running a US VPN, and I've now seemingly got it working.
Hmm yeah, seems like they are really cracking down on these things unfortunately and making it harder and harder.. =(

    • I did the same but still won't work

  • I'm getting the error when i go to pay:

"To ensure that eBay remains a safe marketplace, we limit the quantity of items that can be bought or sold by a single account at one time. These limits may change over time and are determined by your previous site activity and overall performance.

Currently, your account has reached the limit for bidding and buying, but you can increase this limit by providing additional verification. Thank you for your understanding."

I tried creating a brand new account with a VPN, using a USA primary address.. multiple paypal accounts, no luck

    • Hmm it's probably because i am trying to buy something over $600 aud

  • If you want to switch from AUS account to US account to use 'picksoon' code, you need to call ebay. I called ebay US and they said we are allowed to change country details once every 6 months. (you can still change and proceed but you won't get an email confirmation which means it's not actaully changed).

    • Can u confirm able to use the code after call and switch?

      • Confirmed yes I was able to.

  • For those that get "We ran into a problem. Please try again later." create a new EBAY US account. I had to do this and worked fine.

I have switched in the past and it worked fine, but today no go. ( I actually kept this accoount as a US only account, but didnt work)

THey must be trying to block these

    • Hmm I only created mine yesterday..

      • create it again.. My old account worked fine. Blocked today. This was the only way to get around it.

Use a fake US address as your primary when setting up.

Then add your AUs shipping address as an additional one. Not sure if you need to do this, but this is what I did to get it to work.

      • And let us know if it works!

can you use the e-gift cards from that 10% off deal on ebay US?

  • +1

I got it to work. New US account created yesterday. US address as primary, AU as secondary, link Paypal email before checking out. Didn't need to use a VPN at any point (I think this is what flags fraudulent use for paypal). Also did the whole thing in incognito.

  • At checkout, can we pay using credit card (not PayPal) using this code, or is PayPal required ?

I only tried with PayPal, which is when things went wrong.

    • I paid using my credit card which still linked to PayPal AU. It worked.

    • Years ago I tried to setup a new US eBay having a lot of problem setting up US PayPal and finally gave up.

How to do that now? Or better just change the region with the exisiting AUS eBay?

    • i just paid via credit card only as my credit card has cashback too

      Subtotal $674.86
      Item discount -$33.74 <—-store 5% off
      Shipping $51.66
      GST $69.28
Total coupon amount -$96.17 <—-ebay code 15% off

saved about 129 as i stacked the code with a sellers "ebay shop discount"

Hero 7 ~$500 from Ryda using picksoon code. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GoPro-HERO7-Black-CHDHX-701-with…

  • The only bugger is you can't seem to click and collect. Have to have it delivered. I want to buy something from SCA and it's literally 500m down the road from my house.

  • Can you buy AU items using a US ebay account? guessing not

    • +1

Why not? We buy US and China products using an AU account.

It just means you live in US but have an Australian postal address.

      • Thanks Krisspy,

Ended up creating a new US EBay in a incognito browser and it worked.

Only issue is was I wanted to get the discount on a item I already have committed to buy on my AU account :(

        • I think creating US eBay not a problem, creating US PayPal is a problem.

  • After clicking the pay button I got the same error as jjsnacks. However, it shows in my purchase history that the order went through and my payment was processed with the discount code applied.

  • Created a brand new eBay account and tried to buy using PayPal, payment failed again :(

    2 new accounts, 2 failed.

  • Hi all. I created a us ebay account and linked my au paypal to it. It worked though i was posting to a US address. Paypal did flag the purchase and u got a msg asking if it was legit. Picksoon code worked.

  • Changed an AU account address to US, added item to cart but still get the error 'we Ran into a problem. Please try again later'. I guess in the 9 minutes left, cant do much.

Created US account with motel address in California
    Set VPN to California
    Selected my item on ebay.au
    deleted au from address line
    pasted address in ebay.com
    added item to cart
    went to checkout
changed delivery address to australian address
added picksoon code - discount was applied
checked out with normal paypal account in au$

    saved $63.80!!

Just made a new account and purchased a phone. Just incognito and no vpn

    • this worked for me also.

  • Created a new account in american ebay site. They asked for address, gave generic shipitto with australian phone number. Added item to cart, applied code, then changed shipping address to australian one no problems.

This is of course after failing with australian account.

Edit: would delete my spammy comment after seeing bunch of others with similar stories but delete seems to be removed now

  • I couldnt get it to work either, new ebay account with incognito mode. I think it failed when I tried to use my PP account, perhaps direct payment via CC would have worked? Either way, hoping for a similar discount this long weekend for ebay as it seems like a good time to have a sale :)
