I reckon yesterday's Inspiron 15R is a pretty bad deal. Why?! Because now you can get a better spec'ed small business laptop, Dell Vostro 3500, for $699. Until 10 March. Last gen Del notebooks are really in sell-out mode. This is what you'll get:

  • Intel Core i5-480M
  • 4GB DDR3
  • 320GB HDD with 7200RPM
  • Windows 7 Home Premium
  • 8x DVD Writer
  • 1 Year NBD Warranty

$300 off. Don't think you can combine other coupon code, but you can certainly use MoneyBackCo.

I'm tempted to get one just for the 1 year NBN warranty mentioned in the title. I'm guessing that means that if the NBN isn't finished within 1 year you get compensated, right?

    • lol. i'm pretty sure OP meant NBD - next business day?

Sorry it was a typo :P Yes it's Next Business Day onsite warranty.

As opposed to the types who play video games?? LOL!

Integrated video card is better for battery life. As long as it can do video decoding, that's all a grown up man would need :P.

aren't ibm edge much better deals?

  • Apart from the graphics these are great specs for the price. NBD warranty is the clincher

  • Are you thinking what im thinking B2? (if you were then ud wanna know..)
    a) wtf is MoneyBackCo?
It seems to be a website which earns commision from other online stores (eg Dell) when you purchase their products after MoneyBackCo redirects you to their site. MoneyBackCo then passes along the commision (or part of it atleast) to you, in this case 7% of the purchase price. The catch is it costs $10 to sign up to MoneyBackCo, however in this case atleast it is well worth it. 7% of 699 is 48.93, so every with this out lay of $10 you still save and extra $38.93!:D (paid into your bank account or paypal once a month).

    b) Does it have HDMI?
Yup, n esata but no usb 3.0

    c)64 or 32bit windows?
    32 :(

Seriously looks like a good buy!
Does anyone know how to get the backlit key board that is suppose to be an option on this model?

    • Call or go on the online chat thingy with Dell, and they'll tell you whether it's available or not. I think you need to place the order through a rep and they take care of it for you. Backlit kbd not available on the XPS models any more :(

    • The catch is it costs $10 to sign up to MoneyBackCo […] paid into your bank account or paypal once a month.

It actually costs $10/year. The other catch is that the referral tracking does not always work. I made a purchase a few weeks ago that is not showing up in my MBC account and I have lost transactions before.
