Just to remind everyone: most online prices are higher then instore prices.

This is still a good deal if you aren't doing a huge shop.

    • +2

Why is it still a good deal if prices are higher?

      • +2

Because you don't have the expense of running the car, and because it's more convenient.

        • Personally, I walk to and from the shops…

      • +4

Because its cheaper then the regular price, and the ACTUAL delivery costs (extra price minus instore price) will be good value for small orders.

  • +2

    any minimum orders?

    • +1

I believe there are $30 minimum order limits..

that was when I did mine in December I think, thinks may have changed.

      Thanks for the deal!

It's a great time saver, and you can chose whatever time you want!

    • +1

there should be, or else I would be ordering a can of coke and demand for that free delivery :D

I wonder if they are any better than when I tried to use them a year or two ago, they were TERRIBLE. Missing items, wrong items, poor customer service.. I would avoid, even with free delivery.

And items may cost more, but totally worth it for time and hassle saved - I use Coles Online for my groceries.

    • PS, I am not a Coles shill or any in way associated with Coles :) haha.

    • +2

If you're used to Coles Online, then you won't find the items to be more expensive (you might even find them a little cheaper, depending on your shop).

Woolworths Online/Homeshop AFAIK sells at the "standard" price for the city/state. In many cases that means higher prices than the actual cost at your local Woolworths. Pricing is varied on a store-by-store basis depending on things like local competition and how much the local population is willing to pay (e.g. every year or two A Current Affair/Today Tonight do a story on how groceries in some areas are more expensive than in other areas of the same city.) Woolworths Online sells items at the highest price of any Woolworths shop in the same area, which means overall your shop will be dearer.

They also don't put some of their catalogue specials online (although they've gotten better at this, now it just seems to be the specials where you have to buy a certain quantity.)

Yeah, missing/incorrect items is a fact of life with Woolies online. But their customer service has always been helpful enough to me in those situations. I only use them when I can't get to the shops for some reason.

    • They haven't changed then!!
      Woolies online shopping is HORRIBLE.
As you stated, missing items, near or out of date stock. Even the items they do send are terrible. Cans in bad condition just for an example.
And Woolies believes by adding a Substitute check tab to each item they can't be held accountable for items advertised not being available. BS!! (ever heard of Fair Trading)
Example: A customer purchases (brand name)CAFE style thick slice fruit loaf bread, and checks the substitute tab, that doesn't give woolies the right to replace it with thin slice fruit loaf. They are totally different to start with in texture.
Incredible how a billion dollar company like woolies cannot have a website that indicates each item available, low, 1 left etc….BEFORE checkout. Instead of the PATHETIC substitute check item.

I won't be shopping online at woolies again. Until they IMPROVE stock. Lower prices to same as in store.
And most importantly, deliver the stock that was ordered at CHECKOUT.

  • Do you think they will deliver to Norfolk Island?? Our fresh milk here is almost $7.00 a litre so I was thinking of bulk ordering some from Woolies!! :D

    • +3

      holy crap. $7/L :S

    • +33

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a cow?

      • i like lol

      • +5

        Nice username =P

      • +6

sure, but then you'd have to lock up daisy behind barbed wire to stop people driving by and draining her for a freebie.

(sorry - that sounds dirtier than I meant it)

  • Very expensive, but delivery may be convenient.
    $1 per Nash Pear… $0.84 a Banana.

Probably the bread is the best bet, but will it be fresh?

Some Old Gold chocolate on special too.

Order Value less than the minimum required amount of $30.00 . Please add more products and then proceed.

  • +1

any minimum order?? I might order some basics like bread, milk, smokes just for about $15-$20 or so.

    • +3

Order Value less than the minimum required amount of $30.00 . Please add more products and then proceed.

      ;-((((

    • would like to know as well

  • They charge MORE for items ordered online? What the?
Last time I tried to use their site I found it really bad compared to Coles.
Free delivery is tempting, but if prices are higher than my local store no way.

  • +1

I thought the whole point of online stores were lower prices due to needing less staff, not higher prices!

  • +2

Pal Pedigree 700g tins are $1.09 just like in store.

getting 20kg delivered for free gets my +ve

Who the hell would down rate this guys comment?

I see absolutely no reason for it….

      • who cares…… it only means anything when a negative vote on the post has been made…. then it will revoke the vote if enough negs have been made on the comment……
        otherwise it's pretty meaningless :)

+ve Great post as I can arrange for free delivery of all party items needed for our daughter's 18th !! Thanks poster

  • both woolworths' and coles' online prices seem to be about 7% dearer than instore.

i wonder if coles will match woolworths' deal?

    • there's one thing I like about coles and wollies fighting each other, is that deals like this happen more often, which is better for the customer (and ozbargain tightarses).

      BUT

Geez I'd hate to be an independent supermarket owner, or a milk bar owner right now. I really feel for them

  • think heavy items on sale to get you over your $30 ie: Mor0 olive oil on sale for $20 etc They are the types of products you cant a$$sed carrying up the stairs (well at least in my flat)

  • That not true instore price is cheaper than online, I have cafe and couple time when Bulla or Peter 4 litre Ice Cream on SPECIAL like 6.99 or 5.99 and that cheaper than distributor, I have them delivered to my cafe like 60 to 80 tubs for 5.99 each, same price. I am still waiting for big special like coca cola or mineral water.

  • How much do they charge for delivery usually?

    • It depends what time frames you choose:

Say 9am-10am would be more than 7am-1pm etc.

Those aren't exact quotes but just a general idea of how it goes.

    • From $5 - $13 depending on how big the time window is. For example 3pm-9pm is $5 whereas 8am-10am is $13.

I've used them many times and while the odd product does gets missed out of orders every now and then, the customer service has always issued immediate credits or refunds.

    • the more specific time you choose, the more expensive delivery is. Eg a two hour window (eg 4pm to 6pm) would cost more than a six hour window (eg 1pm to 7pm).

  • +1

it would be both a good thing and a bad thing if they had express shipping when you had the munchies.

$30 minimum would be no problem.

though they wouldn't do hot pizza.

  • +1

I just looked at the alcohol and I reckon this deal is good

    Guinness Draught Cans 6x4x440ml 10.56L
    Special - was 75.83 now 54.99

  • I don't believe the comment "most online prices are higher than in store" is accurate or indeed true. In my experience the majority of prices are the same.

    • You are probably smoking something or ONLY looking at specials/dairy/meat.

I invite ANYONE to prove me wrong, simply give me your store location and I will show you that I'm right.

  • the cigarettes/tobacco prices are all the same I think and so is alcohol. most specials in groceries also apply to online as well. if your a smoker it will be very easy to reach the $30 minimum spend.

    • I had a pack delivered and they didn't even ask me for ID, I'm 21.

Pretty sure the guy knew tho, was a nice islander fellow.

  • +1

Items on special costs the same price in store and online. Mulitibuys are not available online unfortunately. Stick to the specials and you'll be fine.

  • Thank you, just saved $13 on delivery. & nappies are on special $29.99!

  • Thanks. Was useful in addition to the current half price special on Whiskas cat food.
