Thanks for posting it, op, do you have tips for a solo traveller who wants to go cruising?

  • OP is this a good deal?

Or you have seen better yourself ?

Anything departs from Brisbane for 6_10 days cruise which is too good to be missed?

  • Any deal departing from brisbane/Gold?

    Good price.
I know alcohol is excluded, extortionately priced, and BYO prohibited (even in your cabin).

(Not entirely a bad thing when you are trapped in a 200m steel prison with a thousand bogans.)

Any others scams or extras to beware of?

    • From my own experience with Pacific Eden, nice ship from old Holland American, going to be transferred to another cuisine company(ship was sold already). But beware of food in the restaurants, I got terrible food (eg vinegar on top of cake…) Room service food was not impressive as well (I was in a suite last time). For the last few days I was only having fruits as the chef has no way to put “fancy” tricks on them.

    • I recommend Royal Caribbean as their ships and the food are pretty good. Voyager, Mariner, Ovation, have all been good.

Genting Dream is also pretty good, IF you are in a palace suite. Lower classes get lesser class food and amenities.

    • OMG! I said extortionate, but I understated it.
Even tea & coffee, and soft drink is not included.

Pre-paid discount price for both alcohol and coffee is $95/person/day, so more than the above package!
OTOH, you can pay $40 for a bottle of wine to share, so go easy on the booze.

  • loose the bargain with airfares from melbourne.

  • went on a 3 nights cruise for $126 twin share/person on Pacific Eden, last minute deal early this year.
Also been on Royal Carribean a couple of times for around $100/person/night twin share, for the service you get,I think $80/night twin share is the maximum I'd pay for Pacific Eden, for last minute I'd expect around $50-$60.

  • I enquired about this cruise on Sunday but unfortunately was advised there was no more room for children.
