3 Months Foxtel Platinum HD + iQ4 + Installation $125 (No Lock in Contract) @ Foxtel

Been looking at Foxtel recently for iQ4 and the cricket in summer. $125 for the new iQ4 box, installation and 3 months of Foxtel looks like a ripper if at the end of the 3 months people call Foxtel and negotiate the ongoing costs. • This seems like it is probably a good deal, with a reservation about what happens at the end of the 3 months. Can anyone advise if they have been through that and if this deal is just a loss-leader by Foxtel to get longer term subscribers?

    • After 3 months price increases to normal price.

      First 3 months $0* p/mth
      Month 4 onward $139* p/mth

      • OP suggests that an opportunity exists to negotiate the costs after 3 months. Has anyone been through that?

You can ring them up and change to a lower package or say you want to disconnect cos too $$$
And they will offer you a discount dependent on who you get. Usually around the $100 mark give or take a few dollars, if you want to keep the platinum package.

I can confirm you will be laughed at if you try for the $39 sport + HD deal for a new connection but speaking to the retentions team once you're signed up the offer will be made. This is current as of this week.

    • Confirmed as well. Currently $36 but will go up to $39 next month with price rise.

(note: the offer is actually a $20 discount)

  • Do I keep the iq box if I decide not to extend after 3 months?

    • No. You send it back free of charge

      Why would you ?

      • To make people who come think he still has Foxtel ?

  • Anyone on here looking for a willing contributor to their box sharing syndicate? PM me. Asking for a friend ;)

Foxtel doing random Customer checks to make sure that all boxes r at the same address heavy penalties apply had a free third room connection done two weeks ago and was told about the random checks

      • Haha good luck with that. I'll tell them politely to get (profanity).

        • It used to be something like 2 days or 3 days notice before they could show up. If you're not home, I wonder what happens? I'll just leave the house key out for my local Foxtel dude to go through my house just to check on my boxes shall I?

Yeah, can confirm: have seen black 'foxtel' helicopters in my area, they say it's for Fire Ants, but I just know they are scanning roofs for sat dishes.

Decent update to the Go app recently, with HD and support for ChromeCast and Airplay:

Note casting only works for multiroom customers, however there are reports of it working for everyone via the new "Watch Foxtel" app via Chrome browser on a PC.

    • This is good to know!

Hopefully I can get rid of the HDMI cable b/w the laptop and TV.

  • We have a tv in the living room and another in the bedroom. Assuming I want foxtel on both tv's (NOT playing at the same time) would I need to pay for an additional box?

    • +1

Yes, it's either $20 or maybe gone up.

    • Or you could get a AV transmitter

    • I was paying $15 for another connection and $10 for an extra box per month. Like someone else said don't be surprised if it's gone up over $25…

  • Let's hope the iq4 is better than the iq3.

    • Hands down much better already for me.

      • How so?

My IQ3 is unstable so keen to hear! I have a 4K tv but no intention to buy 4K channels … and I'm on cable.

        • I'm just very happy at the performance improvements.

I used to click the info button to read the details of a show but it would still be showing the last program it had up and I wouldn't be able to get it to refresh. Now it loads the right info straight away.

Also just not having the delay between pressing a button on the remote and the box actually responding. It just feels like the iQ4 is how the iQ3 should have been from the get go.

Haven't had it require a reboot yet but with the iQ3 I had it freeze up and need me to power cycle it a couple of times. Fingers crossed it stays this way.

  • I bought a house recently which has a dish installed but only a single coax port going to one bedroom and the living room.

I got a TV guy to come and realign the dish to Optus D1 to try and get some free AFL streams and to fix some loose cabling but didn't ask him to run two coax lines from the LNB. Despite this, the dish still picks up all of the Optus D3 Foxtel channels.

After he did his thing I did some reading and now understand the IQ4 box actually needs two coax connections from the LNB on the dish to the box. This would require Foxtel to get someone out to do some more rewiring to get that sorted out. Wonder if I should sign up for this just to get the installer to fix up the cabling once and for all!

    • I too have a dish installed from a previous property owner.
But to view the Optus feeds, do you need a 'box' / decoder?
