See the link below by OZlegacy link below. This is an excellent price considering the fantastic performance. If you were considering the more expensive Pro series, this is the next step down but still an excellent choice.
I have had the predecessor model, the Samsung 960 Pro 1tb, a higher performance model than the EVO series, running for over a year now. Extremely fast and rock solid. The Samsung Magician software takes care of the housekeeping and is a must have when installing these ssds (imho).
If you want a high performance SSD, there are only two faster options, the 970 Pro and the Intel Optane. The 970 Pro costs a significant amount more but doesn't offer any significant performance in general daily use, it's much faster for sustained file creation though, that is why the Pro moniker exists for it. The Intel Optane is just ridiculously more expensive, for that extremely low response times and marginally faster speeds than the 970 Pro.
So, 970 EVO is the best performing, reasonably priced SSD. It isn't the best bang for buck though, there are SSDs that cost less but are only moderately slower that most people couldn't even tell the difference between in day to day usage.
Is 970 EVO the "really good SSD everyone wants" on OzB atm? As in, when you have a cheapo SSD already and want a performance upgrade?
