Great value from Vodafone, as they've added 27GB/month, dropped the price by $5/month, and offering first month free! So averaged out, this works out at just $32 per month - not bad. Don't forget you also get $5/day International Roaming. Enjoy :)

Besides the $5/day roaming, its so hard to see direct Vodafone plans of any value now compared to what Kogan is doing.

does kogan even have international roaming without prepayment deposit ?

      • +10

Let me rephrase, for those not interested in international roaming and are happy to get a local sim when travelling and who make no international calls, Kogan’s value is hard to beat.

        • I had data drop out issues when using Kogan, did you have any experience?

        • Perfect everything over here. I have used the data on some days when internet was out and calls and texts have been more than perfect.

If I needed international calling which I don't yet (cross my fingers and hope to die) then Kogan would look less value for me but I don't so it is crazy what I get for what I paid for.

@AlienC: international: whatsapp, Google Talk, FB Messenger, skype, etc, etc, etc

        • +1

@zapy: That is for people you know but if you are getting a number from someone like a stranger or official hotline then it is a different story.

For example just got called from Singapore for a job interview and you can't do that with whatsapp without exchanging details before and that may jeopardize something like a job interview for a professional role.

Also, try calling a business with one of those pretty hard to find businesses with skype contact info or whatsapp number,

FB Messenger I believe, no experience with Google Talk.

basically what I am saying is you usually need a mobile number for most international calling and contacts etc especially if the plan is for someone much more older or technology illiterate.

    • Buying a plan from Vodafone direct also gets you access to VoWifi, which lets you make/take calls on your mobile number if you're inside your home/office and the mobile reception is poor.

Assumedly to match Optus again - https://www.optus.com.au/shop/mobile/phones/sim-only. $1 cheaper with Vodafone but looks like no international minutes vs 300 with Optus. Posting this for info only having just gone through re-contracting my mobile plan.

    • Isnt optus' $28.80 a month. 20% fee offer

      • +3

        Nope - the 20% is off $45 = $36.

        • ahh

    • +1

Yep. Optus has the edge as i need to call my relative oversea

      • Boost is another good option as they have international minutes and data rollover.

You could also use Skype or VoIP for international calls you then you only need data.

    • +1

Optus does't have Philippines included in international calls for some reason. Also free music streaming and 30GB data is a lot better in comparison to Vodafone's offer.

    • plus Optus have EPL coverage.

  • 65% cashback on 12 month SIM only plans? Am I reading this right, how does that work?

    • +1

Hi Cobalt. It's 65% Cashback on the normal full value of the first month only. So even though the first month is free for this particular offer, you will still get 65% of $35 as Cashback. So that's a further $22.75 in your pocket :)

The Cashback value is based on the percentage of one month's payment for plans, and the purchase price for Prepaid SIM cards.

      • Got it, thanks for clarifying :)

      • Is it paid for people upgrading?

        • Hi Turd. Unfortunately not…

Cashback is available on approved and eligible postpaid & prepaid voice & mobile broadband plans that remain active for a minimum of 90 days for postpaid, or 60 days for prepaid. Cashback is not available on recharges, upgrade services or Business Flex products.

      • Not really clear that it's just the first month only.

They normally work on a "damage control" policy which means they are usually a day behind (from other mobile service providers) when it comes to releasing new plans, isn't it?

  • If streaming is important look at Optus.

Music streaming is data free with them.

With Vodafone you need to add a music pass for $10 a month.

    • Probably wouldn't have to worry about that with 30gb.

This plan does not come with any international minutes :(

  • $5 international roaming wins a lot customers

  • -2

Another reason why they should not be allowed to merge witb TPG - it will be big loss for Australia consumers if the two merged- even bigger loss to current Voda customers - TPG invesed a lot on the mobile license and infrastructure- it will be only possible via lower price to grab market share - given its shameful reputation in mobile service.

    • Not at all, they already work together.

TPG provides all the backhaul for Vodafone towers

      • it is different from merge - Kogan does that too.

    • The merging of spectrum licensing is a pretty big win IMO. When the merge happens, Vodafone will have almost as much spectrum as Telstra.

Also, TPG haven’t hardly built any of their network so far… it’s clear with the rollout of only small cells they intend to invest all of the capital into Vodafone’s existing network.

  • Thanks TA, any expiry on this?

No international phone calls. and really, the 4G service is not good.

    • +1

+1, 4G is not good at all.

    • +1

4G service doesn't even work for me a suburb away from Sydney CBD. It hasn't for years…

    • +1

the 4G service is shite. had half the average speed in my house, switched back to boost after being on vodaphone for a couple days.

  • NO internation call, unhappy; im happy to sign 2x but need international call.

  • Great deal. Thanks! Do you know if it has international minutes?

  • I'm currently on their $40 monthly for 6GB plus bonus 14GB with $5 discount plan, which has free international calls to quite a few countries. Can't see a reason to switch to this as there are no international calls at all!

    • I'm on the exact same plan. Let me know if you find a better deal as I'm sure for an upgrade now

    • I've just resigned for 12 months on this deal

  • Only if you could get through with their credit check process which I found to be more stringent than any bank which provides mortgage.

Wasted nearly an hour trying to get Vodafone NBN when telecube terminated their service. Failed their credit check and could not get their NBN. Surprised and shocked at how they really evaluate.
