Make your own judgements regarding suitability of financial and credit products depending upon your personal circumstances.
Also consider redemption rates to FF programs may change over the next 24mths. Link to list of current Citi travel & rewards options.

Please Note: Platinum Card AF is $49 in first year, then $magic_number? in subsequent years. Signature Card Annual Fee is reduced to $195 in the first year only, reverting to $395/pa, so to get the maximum points on offer you'll incur $195 + $395/pa in the second year and any subsequent year you retain the card.

Key point - you must hold card and meet monthly spend target for 20mths to get the full allocation of points. A potential approach may be to hold it up to just prior to incurring the increased annual fee, and then see if the "cancel seeking retention" phone call gets a 2nd year waiver or reduced AF.

Platinum Card: Citibank are offering 200K rewards points if you're able to use the card and meet the monthly spend target of $1k/month. The previous Platinum Card offer has been replaced with this one (10K Citi rewards per $1k/mth spend for 20mths; $49 AF in yr 1 then $149/pa *depending their absurd explanation of the annual fee, possibly $249/pa). 200K = 100K VFF; 80K KrisFlyer.

Signature Card: Potentially up to 310K Citi rewards points (15K per month >$1K, for 20mths) + Diners (extra 10K) as noted in this post. Minimum credit limit on Signature is $15K, and minimum income is $75k/pa. 300K = 150K VFF; 120K KrisFlyer.

Key point: Spend criteria is not the usual $x within y months but, a bonus reward of 10K (Plat) and 15K (Sig) Citi rewards points applied to each month meeting the >$1k eligible spend per month. You also pickup pts for the actual spend itself, up to 2-3pts/$ depending upon card type & spend category.

Citi offers a variety of rewards redemption: a popular points redeem being to VFF at rate 2 Citi = 1 VFF, or SQ at 2.5:1; Emirates also available. If you hold the card for 20mths* and meet the spend criteria, Signature 300K = 150K Velocity Pts (or 120K SQ KrisFlyer).

Point Hacks review of the Signature card and the substantially more expensive $700pa, min $30k limit, $150k/pa income Citi Prestige Card 400K Citi rewards with PH review which includes a Priority Pass full membership and other benefits.

My previous experience with Citibank card application process & customer service went from excellent >5yrs ago to miserable within past 18 mths. YMMV. On a positive note, I have found they credit my VFF bonus points each month.

I am not sure whether third party branded, backed and provided by Citibank cards, such as the Virgin Money Flyer & High Flyer, will make one ineligible for / excluded from this promotion.

20k spend + $590 for 100-150k VFF… Pretty average, better off rotating cards for sign up bonus

      • Okay if you're out of other options and can be f'ed with this… But the spend requirement isn't at all attractive. That's $3k over 3 months - higher than/equal to almost every sign up bonus. I can only think of the Qantas 2k/Mo for 2 months or something being higher.

        • Virgin Australia Velocity High Flyer Card $3k/mth

  • What if you miss spending min amount say in 2nd month, it would most likely stop bonus points for remaining months as well.

      • So government charges I.e council rates and rego do contribute to the spend threshold for bonus points each month?

  • Be right back,

Going to pull out my mathematics degree to understand the deal :)

There are probably better things to write on.

  • Nothing comes out of Citi ever

  • Citi has very strict credit score requirements

  • Any idea if existing citi card holders can apply for a new card & get this deal?
It doesn't seem to mention that you cannot hold a Citi card for xx months prior to getting this one.

  • All confusing me,I will go other providers to get points.
Citi bank cc approval are very strict.
I applied twice in previous year they did not approve my application.

  • Citi's customer service is definitely the worst. I just got an email from them saying they are changing the rates of points transfers to airlines but of course they didn't say what the new rates will be after 14 October.

    • I was wondering if you've been updated by Citibank on the new rates? I'm considering getting a card with them.
