        I take back very expensive, but it's quite an average price - not a bargain…

        Watch for SportsDirect deals if you're not after something branded like Samsonite. Easily doable for ~$170. For example https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/390538

        Even with shipping changes, it's under $200 for something like this on 20% off sales (basically once a month lol).

        Warranty on cases is BS anyway. Usually doesn't cover wheels or any airport handler damage. The only real thing I can think of that may be covered is the zips, but even that they may consider wear and tear.

        Any cracks = Airport handler damage
        Wheels failing = Wear and tear / different cover period
        Lining degrading/tearing = wear and tear
        Etc…

        The weight is a fair point, +500g for each case. For me the 500g isn't an issue on the checked cases and the carry on I wouldn't buy/use at all (prefer ~1kg soft backpacks), but you're right this may be a factor for others.
