  • Oh damn, this could tempt me to move to Anytime Fitness. $400 cashback per year, every year would be amazing and pretty much half my gym cost…

    • -1

Yep $500/yr for ANytime… less the $400… very cost effective

      • +4

$500? Is that a special deal?

        https://www.anytimefitness.com.au/faqs/

        • +1

          I hope someone answers you.

        • @Duram:
          me too

        • +3

If you are part of AIA vitality you get a discount going to anytime so it costs 60 dollars per month.

Then on top of that every 90 days if you visit the gym 20 times you get 100 dollars cash back. So the gym fees are 720 per year then you can get 400 dollars back.

          So it's actually 320.

        • +1

          @kasp: Thanks.

        • +2

Hmm, 2 of my local anytime offered me 500 for the year, must be special aia price. That's paying up front

    • +1

      …and $0 joining fee for today https://www.anytimefitness.com.au/sale

      • Thanks for the link, so do I need to be anytimefitness member in order to take advantage of this ?

        Edit:nvm

  • +2

Thanks so much for posting this!

  • I had Vitality for about 3 years now. Great program. Even better when its free!

    • +2

Would be better if they didn't cap your activities to limit your points…

    • Mine came for free with my health insurance. Now my super has it as well but I think it's limited.

      • Which health insurance provider is that?

        • +1

          Myown

  • Perfect, will need to check how this super performs and its fees

    • It's the investment option that performs not the super fund per se

      • True, I'm referring to as close to like for like comparison e.g. core vs core , and then the fees

        • +1

Don’t just look at the name of the investment option when comparing it with other funds. Look at the growth/defensive asset split.

Some industry funds have been getting in trouble during the royal commission for having their ‘Balanced’ fund in 95% growth assets, and then comparing it with other actual ‘Balanced’ funds which are typically more like 70% growth.

        • +2

@Devils Advocate: Which fund had a Balanced option with 95% growth? Not even the dodgy banks who bill dead clients would get away with that

        • +2

          @railspider:
Yes they do get away with it. Not sure which one has 95% Growth assets, but take a look at supposedly the best performing "Balanced" fund from HostPlus - 90% Growth. Their website states 76% Growth, but they're including property and infrastructure as defensive assets.

      • It's the Super fund's management of the investment mix that performs, ergo still the fund manager

    • A few years ago their core strategy was the best. Recently that has been going to Host plus from memory.

Still a good performer but there are better out there. Not enough for me to really jump ship.

    • Depending on your desired weightings, kind of average.

For me, who likes max equities, their options are on the expensive side and they don't offer index equity options. They also underperform the international markets on the overseas share fund. Their costs are ok… Not cheap, not expensive.

Personally i've been weighing up changing recently.

Anyone not eligible for this can sign up to RACQ Life Insurance for less than $20/mth for access to AIA Vitality. You make the $20 back per month with the $5 vouchers and then everything else on top is a bonus

    • -1

How many $5 vouchers do you get per month

      • 1 per week

        • -1

Is it a boost voucher or something

        • @easternculture:
Can be woolwoorths egift card, but the targets become harder to achieve each week.

        • @tlai:

You just simply need to maintain the target. Anymore and the target increases. Set a target that your comfortable with and can easily achieve.

        • Valid for boost, woolies, Hoyts, iTunes or donate it to charity.

        • @fittycent:

What’s the expiry on them? And can you use more than one at a time?

For example, I don’t use any of the above vendors, but could potentially stockpile woolies vouchers for a one off Christmas shop.

        • +1

          @sw00p: no expiry

        • @first in line:
          Stackable?

        • +1

          @sw00p: yeah

    • +2

You can make this income protection insurance to also make it tax deductible. Still $20 or so a month ($7.95/fortnight) for cheapest plan.

    • I have the RACQ life insurance, but I've never received any of these $5 vouchers :/

      • Jokes, i just checked. I have RAC, not RACQ :(

      • The $5 vouchers are through AIA :)

  • +1

I can't seem to access through the app.

    • Update the app. It should be in the menu or icon down the bottom.

      • Or restart the app too. Just kept looping for me till this. SMS only gives a link to install the app btw

  • +2

Anyone know what happens if you’re already a AIA member and is with rest?
Do I have to cancel my life insurance with RAC?

    • Would like to know as well

      • same

  • I am currently with RACQ for AIA access but have REST as my super already

How do I go about getting these switched over so I can cancel the RACQ life insurance.

    • I would also like to know this!

      • I would also like to know this too!

    • +2

I spoke with AIA and they said they won't carry over. Importantly, the REST membership doesn't give you the Qantas cashback or the 5,000 point gift cards.

  • Is someone able to clarify this for me?

    Context:
In the REST app, within the AIA Vitality section, I've set my reward as the $5 Woolies voucher.
I've installed Google Fit (as suggested), linked it and set a target of 8,000 steps per day.

    Questions:
    1. Do I need to do the 8,000 steps daily for 7 days to receive the $5 Woolies voucher?
    2. If I set the target to 1,000 steps, will point 1 still apply but with the lower step count?
    3. The Woolies voucher has 0 - 200, what does this scale represent?
    4. Probably a question for AIA support (who I have emailed already), but I'm an existing Anytime member and have paid upfront for a year. Wondering if I'd still be eligible for the $400 cashback

    TIA!

    • 0-200 is the important part. You need 200 points to reach the goal to receive the points. It increases every week if you reach the previous goal.

    • +2

I've previously asked AIA support about the Anytime cashback, since I'm currently at Anytime on a foundation rate. They said I would need to cancel and sign up to Anytime again at the AIA rate.

Let me know if they tell you anything different though!

      • Hey Mate,

Going to try this over the weekend and extend my gym membership if need be.
Are you able to DM me how the staff member proceeded?
        Thanks

      • +1

I have a friendly anytime manager at my local in country NSW. I signed up under the AIA rate and then anytime combined with my work to offer lower rates to employees. She manually applied the lower rate to my account and I still recieve the anytime points and cachback.

        • may i ask how much your monthly rate is?

        • +1

@pohwong: not particularly cheap but $59.95 a month

  • +2

You need to meet your weekly activity target to get the $5 voucher. The target changes based on your performance of precious weeks, meaning it gets harder and harder. In order to get my $5, I have to go to gym 5 times a week

    • +1

Target changes if you over perform from the previous week. If you just maintain it then target remains the same.

  • I have linked the app to a Google Fit app I have just installed, will I be able to just manually add the required steps to meet my goal and get my voucher that way? Also how many points towards the 200 do you earn for completing a daily goal?

    • Can you like it to Google Fit? I couldn't do that the last time I checked.

      • +5

Yep, I had it open the Play Store to install it so that I could link the app and then I just set my goal to 1000 steps and manually put in a 1000 step walk this morning and it says I have met my goal.

        • Genius

        • The definition of work smarter, not harder.

        • Have you received any points yet? Or worked out how to reach 200 points? Or how many points you get for reaching daily goal?

        • @grasstown: Nope, it still hasn't given me any points so who knows what the go is with it. Maybe manually adding walks wont cut it for the points. I saw someone else saying they had done the walking and they hadn't received the points either, so it may just be very delayed.

        • @mdogxxx: I think It's delay or maybe need to wait for it to set target next week and it says what points are gotten for meeting daily target

        • @grasstown: Still haven't gotten me points yet, any of you guys have any luck?

  • Does anyone know of you can link this to your existing gym membership for cash back or does it have to be a new sign up to a gym?

    • Apparently you can, asked REST live chat. However they said to confirm with AIA was wondering the same thing.

    • +1

Not through rest but I got my existing anytime fitness to register me for AIA. They had to get me to resign documents to get the cheaper rate though.

    • I did this with Fitness First, had an existing membership and basically was resigned onto the AIA Vitality offer. In Fitness First's case it's just a corporate plan in their system.

  • +1

The app did not let me create the Aia account. The create button was disabled.

    • I'm getting the same thing! If anyone has figured out why then let us know :(

      • +4

My phone number was formatted like xxxx xxx xxx based on my Rest information and I had to update it to xxxxxxxxxx format for the create button to become enabled.

        • This one worked for me, cheers!

    • +1

U need to select your email address and confirm it. Also make sure the are no gaps in your phone number. And presto!

    • I had to remove the spaces in my phone number

  • +1

I am with Rest and signed up for this a few days ago. I use an iPhone and the Apple health app tracks my steps. I linked Apple Health to AIA vitality in the Rest app however my steps are not flowing through between the two which means I am not getting my 50 points each day. Anyone know why? I am meeting the step target.

    • +1

It sometimes has like 2 days lag. Don't worry, it will come eventually.

      • +1

        Thanks - I hope so!

  • Anybody have any tips of maximising the benefits of this? Is it best to understate your current level of physical activity so that the goals are easier to achieve initially?

    • Get a dog and tie your phone to it.

  • Anyone know if the qantas benefit has been added as this can be potentially one of the biggest discounts e.g 50% off a premium economy flight once you reach platinum status

    • On platinum you get 50% off 2x flights with Qantas itinerary in a year, on economy or premium economy. For domestic or international flights, but both departing and return cities must be in Australia.

  • +4

I spoke to someone at AIA and they said the REST membership doesn't give you the Qantas cashback and also the gift cards for every 5,000 points you earn.

    • Noooo!

    • +2

Two benefits with the highest values not included. I would rather pay for the $120 annual membership and get those benefits then.

      • OP needs to update his post, the website also doesn't state QF cashback included.

        https://www.rest.com.au/beckhamcomp?_ga=2.203375441.13889650…

      • $120 where?

        • +1

You can get income protection from RACQ for around $210 a year which includes the full AIA Vitality. Income protection is tax deductible so I guess if your in the highest tax bracket your paying $115 a year. I'm in the $35k-$80k bracket and I pay about $140 a year including the tax deduction.

    • Bugger! That's one of the main reasons I looked into AIA. Oh well, gym membership and weekly vouchers are still great benefits.
      Thanks for confirming. Will update.

  • +5

So.. it's designed to keep people fit, but they have boost juice vouchers?

    WTF?

Boost juice.. you might as well drink coke. And possibly add some sugar to it.

    • +1

But fruit juice is good for you, it has five Health Stars! (/s)

    • +3

Don’t choose the Boost Juice voucher then

    • +2

I agree - But in saying that, I just get $5 Woolies voucher and charge up my opal card instead :P

      • Cool idea. Never thought if doing that

      • I hadn't thought of doing that, for some reason I had the idea that you couldn't use vouchers to charge up things. Charging up my Opal card is a nice, easy option.

  • +2

I love AIA vitality, got it when I bought some insurance through AIA. I get the weekly $5 and also hit platinum for my first year and got $500 odd in JB/myer vouchers. If you get the points, which for about 25,000 is relatively easy, it's definitely worth while. I can't comment on REST though.

    • +2

It actually isn't that east to get to Platinum. I've had it for nearly 3 years. I easily get the activity points or gym points, but they CAP them. So unless you manage to get all the extra physical checks, flu shots, dental checks, various screenings, you'll struggle to get close to platinum on exercise alone.
And it isn't really free. You're whoring all your information to them for a voucher..
