[NSW] $0.80 Strawberry 250g Punnet @ Coles Carlingford

220

Not sure what is going on with strawberries … obviously a bumper crop! I think I've now seen the cheapest I've seen for a punnet. These are from Sunshine Strawberry Farm in Queensland. No idea whether this is in other Coles stores or for how long this special will last for.

  • Money for jam

    • Actually we purchased some for that purpose of making jam 😉

Down Sydney way at my local they were $1 didn’t know why they were so cheap thought they were a bad batch or something but damn well the best strawberries I’ve had in a long time

    • Actually was gonna comment this too!

I bought 15x 250g punnets from a fruit shop a few days ago for $5. Making them just over $0.33 each punnet!

    • Wow, what did you do with so many?

Me, my partner and daughter have a smoothie every morning for breakfast, which we use strawberries in. So they’re chopped up in the freezer. So much cheaper than a bag of frozen strawberries and from Australia not Chile!

Wow, what did you do with so many?

You freeze them so you don't have to buy the ones from China.

    • Good move.

  • At my local greengrocer it's $3 per kilo (had to commit to 1kg) but 80c per 250gr punnet is quite good

  • They were $1 at Woolies Double Bay yesterday. Anything for a $1 in Double Bay requires a double take.

What’s the story behind the seemingly huge discounts on strawberrries?

If only someone would smash Driscols on raspberries and blueberries

  • Seems like a huge supply of strawberries at the same time causing prices to be so low.

If they're selling for a dollar at coleworths, then how much does the farmer/grower get? Crazy.
