  • I have traveled with Air Asia, they are not so bad you have to pay for food and drinks even a pillow and blanket are not free its ($10.00) but for the sort of prices what do you expect.

  • As low are the prices too, their seating config is poor and I couldn't imagine flying to London in it!

  • Before Flying with Air Asia someone told me the seats dont recline, false they do recline, you pay for what you get not everyone has $1500.00 to spend on Air fare to London.

You get a K.L stopover free and hotels in K.L are cheap! so guess it would be good for some not all.

    • They've changed the seats, at one point they didn't!

Travelled with them at New Year to Malaysia and Thailand, and yep, you get what you pay for. If you don't mind a little discomfort it's definitely a bargain IMHO.

  • Is this one way?

    • All fares are quoted for single journey (one-way) only

      $609 MEL-KL-LON
      $510 LON-KL
      $194 KL-MEL
      $1313 Return

      • Ouch … not such a bargain at all! Especially when you add food, drink, entertainment, luggage etc.

  • I went to Egnland 6months ago and the seats recline . We flew there for ~$700 return . Was packed there but on the way back we got 3 seats each to lay down …. . The tune hotel is incredibly cheap within walking distance of the terminal and is an ok albeit sparse spot to recharge/shower/eat if you have a longish stopover . It's less than $50 even with the extras such as airconditioning towls etc :)
If you want to watch a movie you can get a crappy little tablet thing but it serves it's purpose . I think it was about $12 from memory and my little one watched a couple of movies on it .

    • Thanks for the hotel tip. 700 return?? That's damn good.

  • I find that with the savings I get from flying with AA compared to the other full-service airlines, I have more than enough to justifying an "upgrade" and choose a seat near the emergency exits and get extra leg room. :)

  • People are far to precious these days, its about what you can afford at the end of the day. You can break the trip up both ways with a stopover in KL which is a beautiful city in itself. 10 hours or so with a slight drop in comfort is neaither here not there for me when you are saving up to a grand that can be spent on accomodation etc at the other end. In saying that I nabbed the recent QA bargain at $790 return so that trumps this deal albeit needing to return by end of march. (not to mention the 5 star airlines)

  • My back aches just thinking about this deal….

  • are promo fares eligible for their travel upgrade option program?

  • how is this a deal? its 1300$ return with major airlines. i too traveled 6 months ago to london 700$ RETURN! if u want to get an idea what the flight is like… its like flying jetstar domestic. But all flights i was on were always half full and never delayed. i would recommend for anyone on a budget!

My advise: Wait for their big sale.. air asia usually have 1-2 a year usually around october/november to travel between april-august the following year. This price is almost a normal air asia price melb to uk

    • +1

well it's about 2k+ with major airlines during June/July..

      • -1

the whole point of airasia and their sales is ur made to book months in advance to get the cheap deals!

        • Gavman's rite, $1.3k isn't that much of a deal, it's more like "regular" prices. I'm flying AA in 4mths MEL-KL-MEL, $266. Return. Includes 20ks luggage, meals, credit card "convenience charge". Booked last Nov. But it did entail waking up at 5am on the 1st day of sales! And the booking process (repeatedly kicked out midway thru booking) took 45mins! "Regular-discounted" MEL-KL wd be in the region of $400 rtn. Regular KL-London mebbe $800. Ergo, price posted - no bargain!

    • I'm getting a one way ticket to UK in July… care to find me one as cheap as $609?

I just searched a huge chunk of March and April and I can't get any promo fares to come up at all for either leg to London.

    $1313?

You pay a few hundred dollars less and you get a few hundred dollars less of service, that's not a bargain, that's getting what you pay for!

In fact, by the time you add add-ons like food, luggage, and accomodation for the forced stop over, that difference is even smaller.

I booked two seats on the QA deal to europe, that was a bargain.
    Full service airline, jetstar price.

  • i priced it up for octoberfest 2 weeks ago, landing in paris as $960AU RETURN

  • Come on. This may seem like a deal, but after tax, hidden booking fees and inconvenient flight times this is just a hassle and not really a bargain at all. Not to mention the exorbitant price you will be charged on the return journey.

If you saw some of the crazy expenditures these airlines spend on their executives (parties, "training", accommodation etc etc) you too would snarl in contempt and stay indoors in front of your aging computer typing out reviews no one will ever read.

  • Can't find any available dates! Any tips for faster searching?
