Vividwireless $19 Refurbished USB Modem with 3Gb Data (Metro Perth, Sydney and Melbourne)

140

Seems like a good deal for students. I know of a few people who are sitting on the fence with hit and miss speeds so could be a good way to test reception @ Uni or home without committing to contracts etc. Check Whirlpool for some feedback. Be aware the network in Syd and Mel doesn't cover the whole metro area.

I have copied the relevant parts from their page below

I'd say it works off vivid wireless' network

      • vivid is the new 4g network owned by the seven network super super super fast but no covrage past cbd.

    • +3

Its a WiMax technology, so the modem is no good for any other network regardless of the locking.

Coverage is very limited unless your in Perth.

Having used one of these in Perth while waiting for a permanent connection, this is quite a bargain. It's not ADSL2+, but the speed was good, around 4mbps down. For once Perth is good for something!

  • Reburbished :)

    I'd rather Vivid Entertainment.

  • Very limited coverage area.

  • I use Vivid in Sydney and the service has continued to get better and better, I'm almost tempted to pick one of these up for mobile use (I have the home gateway).

    • Cool. Which part of Sydney are you using it from? Am thinking of using the vivifi device.

  • Bought, will be good for work. Thanks!

  • If u r in a CBD (Melbourne) and you are not using Vivid wireless , I assure you that you are losing a lot :)

I am a VIVID user and am 500% satisfied with the speed/no -contract/ usage limit:)

Note: I am not a REP or anyone from VIVID

I am just a fully satisfied customer of Vivid broadband:)

    • it is super fast its 4g, telstra say the 4g telstra is 8 months away, just no covrage in the suburbs

  • UWA Students get pretty good wireless coverage with Unifi. Not really sure that you'd need it on campus much.

Ordered one anyway for use elsewhere ;) $19 is too good to pass up. Just an FYI, they haven't asked me for student id or anything yet (and I didn't use uni email). Already been invoiced and charged.
