  • also can get 3.5% cashback through CR, making it $829.66

    • It's not 3.5% for washing machines

  • Why would anyone buy a toploader for that (or any) price?

    • +3

Super tall people that can't mount it on the wall and don't want to bend down…maybe?

    • i heard capacity of 11kg top loader =/= 11kg front loader

    • I really dislike out front loader. A wash takes ages and they hold nothing. Plus you have to bend down to get all the washing out.

    • I understand all those reason. It’s just that I’ve seen even fancier, new TL leaving heaps of lint, not washing (for reals) and spinning out water as good as FLs and also they apparently are always using more water and electricity. Perhaps unless you pay $1000+. But that’s a big financial risk to me.

The lint on my clothes and being not eco or economical are my main concerns. And any semi-advanced FL can do a quick wash, like 30-40mins. Just a mattter of choosing right settings.

  • +1

Dont do it!I got one earlier this year for reasons i can no longer remember.it was terrible.so harsh on clothes, just rolled everything into a big ball, and the lint!aaaargh!the water level was never correct and i think it was a lemon.lg were horrid to deal with and good guys not much better.ended up getting a refund and buying an electrolux frontloader.it is a dream machine by comparison!

  • why do people choose a front loader over a top loader

    • Top vs Front loaders is like a religious war of fanbois

Just like Apple vs Samsung or Windows vs Mac OS or Nvidia vs Ati

I have owned both. I prefer top loaders because I dont have to bend down to fill/empty them - also I find for the same rated capacity they seem to be able to handle more dirty laundry.

I also prefer the clean I've experienced from my top loaders to front loaders.

Top loaders are typically cheaper to buy for a given capacity and take less time to wash a load of clothes. However they use more water, generally require a lot more space and are generally accepted to be harsher on clothes. Some people also say top loaders create more lint.

My favourite ever washing machine was the LG 11kg top loader made about 11 years ago. Nothing I have owned since (2 front loaders, 1 top loader) has come close.

      • I have a front loader but if I needed a big machine I would probably buy this. It has no agitator so is almost like a front loader in some ways.

It is the agitator that causes wear and lint problems with top loaders.

      • I have front loader now - but one thing I really miss about a top loader is being able to pop a rogue pair of reg grundies in after the machine has started.

        • This can be done in some front loaders apparently.

  • Dont forget local council/government cashbacks - Queanbeyan City Council gives $200 back for 4 star wells washing machines - Worth checking

  • Serious question - wouldn't it be better (if you have the space) to buy two 7KG washing machines? Much more flexible and built in redundancy.
