Nokia 7 Plus - Black Copper $547 @ Harvey Norman (C&C)

120

Though I am not a big fan of Hardly Normal, this is a good price for local stock. I am sure we could price-match (or beat) at JB HiFi?

Delivery to Sydney: $7.95

    Single sim model only

    Dual-sim version is $462 via Catch: https://www.catch.com.au/product/nokia-7-plus-4gb-ram-64gb-r…

Although if you're going to go with a grey import, $407.56 (using PENNY5) via qd's eBay store: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Nokia-7-Plus-TA-1062-6-0-4GB…

      Add GST to that.

      • -1

Have you spoken to anyone who has paid GST via eBay since the "changes" on July 1st?

        • +4

No. But I checked the "Checkout" page properly. Tiny details though ;)

        • @dealspider:

          Well that's just great… :'(

      • Why?? Assuming Australian site with GST already charged?

        • I was quoting on the ebay price.

        • No, GST will be added on checkout. Been there, paid that.

      • +2

        yep tried it in cart

        Subtotal (1 item):
        AU $429.01
        Delivery to AU
        FREE

        Total:
        AU $471.91

it will be a while until more sellers list as Australian stock, but then ship via DHL from Hong Kong …they did it with my Xiaomi phone, was 3 days customers cleared ….

Good phone, but unlike the version sold overseas this is single SIM.

    Released in March 2018.

    • +1

for 95% of users probably not an issue.

most Australian phones are only single sim, we have different plans to other countries so not as big an issue except for sim sluts getting new sims every month for data and outgoing calls.

  • +7

Guys, I know you could find cheaper prices and dual sim models. But some of us want to get Australian Warranty.

    • +2

And most importantly, dual SIM isn't required/needed by everyone.

      • +1

I never wanted a dual sim phone but I am aware that some people make good use of the feature. Again some people are willing to pay bit more extra for a piece of mind for local warranty and ease of buying from a local shop.

        • +2

I never wanted a dual sim phone but I am aware that some people make good use of the feature.

No doubt about that, just not too sure why it's commonly made out to be a feature that is sought after by all.

    • +1

yep, some people just have one sim, want an Australian charger and warranty, and if there is a problem take it to HN or JB.

dual sim is for the sim sluts who get a new sim for outgoing calls and data every month e.g belong 1/2 price $10 plan but fist month only, 2nd month dump and get amaysim ,etc.

      • +1

I'd always figured it was for people who wanted to use the one phone for both their work number and their personal number.

  • I don't know if I would pay almost $550 for the Nokia 7 + specs local stock or not

    • +2

      What would you get instead?

      • ZenFone 5

        • +3

          ZenFone 5

          Snapdragon™ 636 (vs Snapdragon™ 660)
          No regular security/OS updates
          Bloatware

          Nokia 7+
          Snapdragon™ 660
          Android One
Regular Security/OS updates for 3 years
And this comes with 2 years of peace of mind

        • +1

          I see……

Basically the same thing, but worse.

        • @dealspider:

SD636 vs SD660 is probably not discernible to the average user
ZenFone continues to receive regular updates (currently on the July security update)
Minimal bloatware (can uninstall most, if not all, of it)
          Better camera (DXO mark 90)
Wide angle lense on the second camera
          LED notification
          Dual SIM
          128GB version available
Possibly cheaper (when I last looked, some time ago)

          peace of mind

          Also known as Zen(fone) :-)

  • I got one recently. It's a nice phone. It's very tall. Sometimes a little hard to fit places. I think the camera in my old LG G4 is better, but only by a bit.

    • Errr… so few years old G4 got a better camera than this? That's not good. The main selling points of this phone are the build quality, 2 day battery and clean Android. I also did a quick camera comparison between this and my old Nexus 6P at the store. Nexus 6P camera is much better.

      • Unless you are looking at flagship price point you dont get the best cameras. That said, I think the G5 and G6 cameras are not as good as the G4 one was. The G4 has a brilliant camera that's why I got it. Been a great phone, wished they still made them.

      • The G4 camera is actually pretty good. I liked the G4 very much, but it died of bootloop.

      • Camera isn't Nokie's forte. This actually has similar camera to Nokia flagship Nokia 8 Sirocco, which is a shame. Flagship price for non flagship camera.

As already said before, best bet for an actual pure Android phone in this price range is the Google Pixel 128GB. They are also on catch for around $462 and I assume this includes GST (though obviously imported model).

        • They are also on catch for around $462 and I assume this includes GST (though obviously imported model).

I think they are refurbished and come with only 6 months warranty. Otherwise a great price.

        • @dealspider: Whelp, they were there yesterday I checked but gone now. The deal last week was at $409. The next best price is probably DWI at around $519. Add GST on top you might as well buy from Kogan for $599 (or does DWI includes GST now?) or JB Hifi Aus stock from $699.

Edited: Scratch that, $419 inclusive of GST https://www.dwidigitalcameras.com/google-pixel-128gb-silver.…

      • there are 2 parts to camera and quality of photos,

        1 - hardware
        2 - software,

whose software is driving the camera when you make comparisons.

We seen often apple fix camera quality vis software updates.

Idea of android one is you get base photo software, but you can also load your own …hence treble and hardware abstraction as part of android one.

  • Will be a good price if it's under $450… for AU stock

    • +1

$450 is about parity with grey stock with gst and in Australian we would have the overheads of HN and JB having on the shelf and local warranty, so hence local will cost more.

  • How is this compared to all Xiaomi's and Oppo's etc.? I'm looking to buy a decent Android phone - nothing fancy, good speed, memory, standard apps like whatsapp, facebook etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated on the best value for money phone.

    • wait for xiaomi mi a2, that will be like 300 bucks for google pixel quality camera

      • Thanks mate, is it going to be released sometime soon?

        • It has been released already. This time the phone comes in different variants though compared to last time there was only one model (in terms of hardware). This revision got the Lite version which is the entry level (different processor/ram/rom/camera).

          From Gearbest

        • @dealspider: Thanks mate, is it better than this Nokia 7 Plus?

        • @vjoz: It is still quite new so hard to find many good reviews yet. Other than the warranty I don't think there will be much difference in these two phones. Mi A2 got 6GB/128Gb variant which is expensive and is better than the 7+ on the books.

        • @dealspider: Is Redmi Note 5 any good with this deal?

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/395756

Looks like it has headphone jack. There is a mention of B28 and NFC - Any idea if Redmi Note 5 has got either or both B28 and NFC?

          Thanks much!

        • @vjoz: I am not so sure about this phone but Xiaomi phones in general don't have B28. But that price is great.

        • @dealspider: Thanks mate! I may bite the bullet and get one.
