I think for your daily use you should get one of the higher models (main difference is faster motor). But this is a useful deal to get a spare handle to take travelling, and is very cheap if you think of it as a spare charger (which costs $25 on its own) and one replacement brush head (note that some of these models come with two brush heads).
This is Nicad, not sure how it would work on expensive models which use a different battery.
I can't remember exactly which model I bought, but I have used the charger from a $20 model on my IQ 5000 for a few months with no issues.

If you want a spare, get the Woolies generic one for 10 bucks. Get a knife and shave off the excess bump on the attachment slot and it will work with oral b heads. Runs two AA and can last for a month+

Shave the left hand ridge off, so its a flat face like below

You should see the uneven shaved face along the middle there. They added the ridge so their copy cat tooth brushes are not compatible with the original heads.
Oral-B for reason discontinued their 2 AA battery powered ones quite a while back. Not sure if they actually made it to Australia or not.
The last ones I got from Harvey Norman were not as good as the ones in the supermarket. Charger was a different size and old tooth brushes wouldn't fit on the new charger. Battery Life seems much worse.
Probably newer design which use a different charger.

Got this exact one almost 4ys ago, still going!
Battery this year isn't holding its charge as long but still get few days of power, 1 week it drops off a bit.
But charger is handy and easy to use.

I have this one for travelling and a professional care 500 for daily use. The two couldn't be further apart. The vitality is rough in comparison even with the same head. I tolerate it but wish I'd pony'd up the extra bucks and bought another 500!
Actually I should qualify "travelling", I keep the vitality at the place where I stay when I work during the week.
Can you please explain further why it is so much better. Also does it used different heads?
