Anyone has experience with refurbished EB Games items? Care to share the experience?

I got a PS3 off them once. The website said that they were all thoroughly checked and cleaned before being onsold…I guess that's the "refurb" part.
Mine dusty and dirty, missing rubber feet, and the controller didn't work properly. So, no, I don't think they really do anything with them…take their 'refurb' definition with a large helping of salt.
That said, they replaced the controller, and the unit worked just fine for a few years until I onsold it on eBay (I had replaced the rubber feet, and gave it a good clean before selling, as any half decent seller should)! I find the staff at my local EBGames to be helpful and responsive to any issues - you just have to ask them. I don't think they really "refurbish" anything though. Just a cursory check maybe, and then stick it in a box and resell.
I bought a Xbox 360 a couple years ago. First one was broken, it randomly opened the disc tray when on. So took it back and got a replacement. Second one worked and was in good condition. Guess it takes a little trial and error.
same, bought a refurb ps3 controller a couple years ago. It was dirty and has connection dropouts. I just went back to the store and ask for a refund.
Got an iPod Classic a few years ago. Not sure what they mean by 'refurbished'. The iPod I got looked like it has been stomped on and fed through a paper shredder before being packed. I returned it to my local store straight away.
I bought a refurb PS4 Pro about 10 months ago, The HDMI cable didn't work and it came with a white (official) controller replacing the original black one. Other than that I've had no problem with it and saved a good amount at the time by purchasing with a eBay discount code.

I don't understand how people manage to scuff and dirty their consoles…They treat it like dirt and throw it about. We all like everyone to treat their stuff how we do but the sad but true reality is they don't.

I've seen better condition game consoles in the "junk-o box-o" at the back of Japan's second hand stores :(@idonotknowwhy: leaving it in a filthy environtment. Grabbing it with grubby hands. Plenty of ways people have dirtied up their personal things not just console. Like i said we can expect a certain item that belongs to other people to be as clean as our similar items but reality is people just dont care as much as you and i about them.

you'll be waiting a loooong time then. look on ebay and gumtree.. second hand switches with no warranty are going for more than $320.
Seems that around $300 for a used one isn't that unusual. People mustn't value the new smell/warranty all that much.
For me, yeah, I'd prefer new for an extra $50 or so.

I have been this close to grabbing one a few times now, just because I know you can get Duke 3D on it. Does it matter that I have Duke 3D on literally every machine I currently use (including even, my god damn Nokia 3310 and ChromeBook)? No, I wanna come get some.
Legit though some of that homebrew shit is wild already, and the SDK recently fully leaked too so it's only gonna get better.
Juts get a N-3DS-XL for now, Play duke 3D on that, since it can be hacked and still have online

Not really as they have started implementing Nintendo switch level piracy check on the latest firmware which was released two days back on 3DS. But still it's an amazing console with plenty of great games available.

Nintendo have upped the ante this time and are banning heavily on Switch. The latest 3DS update from yesterday also seems to have introduced measures to easily detect modded games/consoles the same way they do on the Switch. So they might start wholesale 3DS bans too.
Basically if you want to mod be prepared to kiss online goodbye
Dont know If this is true but I remember hearing somewhere Nintendo was paying the people who make the exploits to show them how to secure them, might be wrong just remember hearing that somewhere

I read that they had revised the hardware and didn’t tell anyone.
No reports of the updated hardware but they have tweaked the software so it's not working with the current exploits. So if that's important to you you'd be best buying in person or second hand.
Nah F-G hardware exploit still works from my Switch from this deal.
