What's your favorite discontinued food you miss most.

Mine is Cadbury Whip, tasted so much better than Mars.

    https://www.sbs.com.au/comedy/article/2015/12/28/snacks-your…

    • Great link.

    • Read this and the two linking articles on lollies and ice creams. Very funny stuff.

  • more takeaway shops should sell their hot chips wrapped in butches paper like they use to.. not many places do that anymore.

    • +1

My local still does that, plus they sell Chiko Rolls and Corn Jacks.

      • yeah a lot of coastal towns I have found still does it but not in the city anymore.

    • The fish and chip shop we go to in East Melbourne wraps their fish and chips in butcher paper.

      • Paper made from butchers?

  • American-made sour cream and onion Pringles! We used to get them here, but for some reason we switched to Malaysian-made Pringles about two years ago - that was when your hand couldn't fit in the tube any more. They taste awful compared to the original American-made ones.

  • +3

Dick Smith Ozemite soon to disappear from shelves. extra tangy and a little sweet compared to vegimite.

  • Red bull in a glass bottle.

  • +1

Muncherro's - skinny style corn chips - the song in the ad would go something like: munch on muncheerooo's! I remember misreading the spelling on the packet and calling them Muncharoos.
When I was a kid I remember Pickled Onion flavoured crinkle cut potato chips … so addictive!

  • Cadbury Marble. I've been boycotting their blocks since they removed it from sale. Bastards

    • +2

Could you just leave top deck on your dashboard on a hot day?

  • Buncha Crunch (still available but very pricey and rare) and Planters Cheez Curls!

  • Smith's Heinz Ketchup flavour chips. They bring them back every now and then, I just wish they would permanently keep them. Easily the best flavour potato chip.

  • Caramel Nesquik.
I used to mix it with my Nutri-Grain for breakfast.

  • supersize coke from McDonalds.

  • Kellogg’s Crunchy Nut Cornflakes

  • +1

Strawberry Freddo Frogs. The ones that are gooey on in the inside, not the lame pond ones they still have around now for fundraising and crap

  • Big macs, chocolate dog energy drink in Nz, tasted like chocolate in a soda. Jolt cola, the frozen pizza from that dinosaur sitcom lol.

  • +3

Sour Skittles - with sour on the outside.

  • There was this cup ice cream back around the 90's that I buy from 7eleven and other petrol station which I loved but forgot the name, It was pretty expensive at the time probably explain why it stop selling.

It is a mix of vanilla and chocolate at the outer edge in the cup. The icecream is soft.

Anyone remember a cup ice cream i just described and know what it was called?

edit: Managed to google and found it was Vienna Chocolate from Street

  • Those cadbury thickshakes in a purple carton.. U shook it like 10 times and i was like drinking icecream. It Was magical.

    • At least it comes back for limited runs.

  • The old Milo bars for me & more recently Kraft live free cheese (very high protein) still trying to find a good substitute.

  • Munch on muncheros

  • +1

Arnotts Raisin Luncheon Biscuits. They were the best.

  • +1

It's cool googling all the ones I've never heard of and some that I completely forgot about. It's probably pathetic but it makes me kind of sad that there's so many products that just cease to exist.

  • Summer strawberry connoisseur :(

  • Coke zero

  • Muncheros

  • Passionfruit Fanta

    Chicken Drumstick Shapes
    Oak The Max Choc Mint
    Caramilk

Some of these have been revived in other forms (Passionfruit Cream Fanta, Oak Thick Choc Mint), but they’re just not the same 😪

  • Milka Coffee Creme. You can get the regular one but not the coffee creme.

Fray Bentos 'Steak and Mushroom' pie. They have so many flavours in the UK but in Aus they only have 'Steak and Kidney' which is awful.

    • Oh and Oasis Sport?? Drinks amaaazzinggg

  • I think it was Lemonmint as well as Orange life savers. Both were amazing. Orange Calypo icey poles as well. We had a Milk Bar growing up, so it's all about the sweets for me :D

And the original sour skittles, before they stole the sour sugar :(

    • Orange Calypo

And lemon, there was also mango.

      So fruity.

  • +1

  • +1

I've seen a few mentions of Twisties Wicked Cheddar Zig Zags, I still get them at my local IGA here in NQ.
I miss Chocolate Billabongs, Ruffles, Lays Country Style Sour Cream and Onion chips, and the litre tubs of Weis Queensland Mango With Cream ice cream.

I really miss the Lays chips, my god, they were good.

    • Don't they still sell those at IGA?

      • The Weis Mango With Cream tub? They did, but it's not been in stock here for a few months now :(

  • Mountain Dew.
    Uncle Toby's Crunchy bars.
In the 80s there was a chocholate ice cream called Push Up or something similar.

    • +1

You can still get Mountain Dew from KFC.

      • Isn't that the new recipe with caffeine?

      • presumably means the non-energised version.

  • Coles 'Belgian' chocolate, was better than Cadbury but the packaging just looked like cheap chocolate, and it was pretty cheap ($3 for about 180g?). Think it was gone about 3 or 4 years ago, now replaced with cheaper chocolate. Clearly didnt sell well because people didnt realise how good quality it was. Anyone else have it?

  • +2

The Original Ingham sweet chilli tenders & breast munchies, the one's they're selling now are made from foam chicken which taste disgusting. Maggi Thai sweet chilli sauce, Doritos BURN chips, Pepsi MAX lime.

  • +3

There was an icypole called Toucans (I think?). It had two sticks and you could break it in half, and it was rainbow coloured.
Also loved the mini cheezels and the cheezel holes. And the paddlepop frozen milkshake. I used to spend ALL my pocket money on those.

    • They're gone?! Toucan twinpoles were great.
I don't remember the rainbow version but the two colours were great at the pools/beach

  • +1

Arnotts Quatro is unforgivable - still waiting for them to undo the wrong.

AND honey baked ham from kettles were so good. Whyyyyyy?????

Dixie drumsticks. These didn't deserve to go either

And SunnyBoy ice blocks were always a thing at the pools.

    • IGA still sell honey baked ham

  • Amscol Ice Cream (only Adelaidians would know this one)
    Up'N'Go Mocha flavour

  • The Yumbo from Hungry Jacks. Used to eat it all the time at HJs.
    Snip iceblocks too.

    • Updated: Yumbo's are back….YES!!!!

  • Monster/Insane Energy Drink - https://i.pinimg.com/736x/76/aa/5a/76aa5a4aaadaa22699db779f4…

    Dirt Yogo

    Lays Potato Chips

    Diet Coke with Lemon

    Peters Choc Wedge

    Peters Trumpet Ice Cream

    • I miss Choc Wedges so much. I substitute them with Eskimo pies for a vanilla version.

  • Nandos garlic sauce bottles.

  • Almond M&M's
    Almond Snickers
Old School Dairy Milk(maccadamia), not these new ones that taste like rubbish.

  • +1

The Franklins No Frills full cream milk was a ripper and a miser's dream…

  • A condiment, rather than a food.
    ETA Honey BBQ sauce.

  • Without reading the whole thread so not sure if these have been mentioned

    Arnotts Quattros
Red Rock Deli dijon mustard and honey
    Wrigleys 5 Gum
    Banana nesquik (stocked up thankfully)
Papa Giuseppe frozen pizza (before Dr. Oetker took over)

  • About 15 years ago there was a Milo logo-shaped crunchy chocolate ice-cream. It was amazing.

Also, Wonka chocolate bars (fudge and caramel). And of course the Milo bars.

    Cadbury hot chocolate sachets.

Why do they always get rid of the good stuff.

  • There were these obscure chips that only existed for a little while and I can't remember the name of them. All I remember is:
    - The texture was the same as prawn chips
    - The flavour was BBQ
    - The packet had a picture of a volcano on it with the chips erupting out of it
    - The chips were sort of shaped like little flowers

I think they were hawaiian themed?

  • Herb and garlic veggie chips.

  • Connoisseur's Bed stuy

  • Salsa Shapes

  • +1

Use to buy these back in the 90s. I don't know the name but it had the word Deli. It was like a dessert or closer to a cake. You'd find this in the fridge section near the dairy products in a corner. They'd be packaged in a clear square plastic container and a little clear plastic spoon on the inside, with a film lid you had to peel off. The top had a couple of cherries with whipped cream below it and two layers of chocolate sponge cake.

if anyone knows if you can still get this let me know. I haven't seen it for a long long while. Never saw it advertised on tv either.

    • They were called Deli Cups and were awesome.
